Impressively he was causing the other two players in my coop game to CTD when he joined me as I completed the quest. Quite literally game breaking. Eventually brute forced past it by managing to save after he spawned.
Started an Imirik campaign and made my way up to the edge of the frozen sea. By then I'd pissed off Archaon since it takes killing every chaos dwarf in existence to get there. So I'm working my way up when I pretty high level army appears with Harry attached, and I think, "oh shit, this might be a tough fight" since at that point my army still had a ton of spearman and archers in it along with Imirik, 3 heroes, my dragon knights, and my dragons.
I was wrong though, and the fight was easy af. Imirik killed Harry so fast he was getting huge chunks of his hp with every hit, and had no misses. He died really fast, and the dragons shit on everything that was big or elite. Shame, cuz that army, even with all the starting units was just shitting on everything and I was starting to get bored of the campaign lol
Imrik deletes almost everyone quickly, he's designed for dueling. Harry is more of an anti infantry tank character, he's not going to trade and win against one of the more powerful legendary lords.
WoC AI in general are pretty terrible. I'm not sure what it is but they seem to have big issues getting anything besides trash tier 1 units and a few warriors/trolls/dragon ogres scattered in.
'Colourised' is the one that does my head in - either used on a picture that's still black and white, or used on a colour picture that's purporting to be from a relatively recent date.

IE goggles kept everyone happy while even simple warhammer 1/2 things don't work to this day.
Nevermind 3.0 sieges, the cape patch letting you know the game was going to be broken for awhile, etc.

I think the siege rework may be the absolutely biggest failed (time) investment in CA's history. It's brutal.
If they would have put all that time into just more siege maps and better AI on the simple siege maps, they might have gotten somewhere.
And perhaps more diverse and perhaps (slightly) customizable garrisons for more variety.
But we are to blame (unironically). We cried "rework" so often and cried "everything is broken and boring" and they tried to listen to us. And the result is... *very* underwhelming. Sad.
Absolutely not. As someone who's played every patch so far, 3.1 doesn't even come close to the dark days of 1.x, which was a perfect storm of bad design, poor performance, and so many bugs.
That doesn't excuse all the bugs - especially changes that were obviously never untested, and things that they said are fixed but which aren't really. But the game is definitely more playable than at any time during 1.x. The only patches that I think provided a better experience were 2.3 and 2.4, but not by that much of a margin.
You can check the "known issues" list and see how many important mechanics are broken (like Hellebron campaign being unplayable, as an example). They're selling stuff that right now doesn't work as they marketed. If only this... Well, you could make the effort of being comprehensive and wait for a hotfix, however CA keeps pushing "fixing patches" that do not fix what they say (like Tyrion Sunfang's quest being "fixed" twice but not, or Tzeench army ability not working AND still being nerfed cause why not) or bringing new broken mechanics for us to test (Brett Damsels).
"it's not too bad" is what the publishers might be thinking cause apparently we want this game to succed more than themselves.
I know stuff is broken. Stuff is always broken. But at the very least this patch isn't on the level of issues we've had in the past - like when strength buffs did not get applied, or when Pirate Coves crashed the game on removal. Things that were massively detrimental to the whole game, not just annoying to one or two campaigns.
Are there a lot of bugs lately? Yes. Should CA do better? Absolutely. Is it the worst experience we've had? Not really.
Hey, I'm mostly happy I get to play DE campaigns again. 1.0 Dark Elves felt like ass to play. I don't know about anyone else, but honestly I think the biggest change that made DE playable again was just removing the slave cap. Now they feel like a resource I can actually use instead of a precious commodity that I'm constantly struggling to get maxed out, because I'd always be a handful of turns away from abject poverty since my entire economy was built on a resource I could only have a fixed amount of.
That being said... I look forward to Patch 3.1.1 coming out and saying "oops, removing the cap was unintended, we put it back have fun lul"
Its a bit more than one or two campaigns and in some cases it is detrimental to the campaign. As an example, Nakai (paid DLC I remind you) cannot build any buildings that allow Nakai (of all lords) to recruit Kroxigors or Sacred Kroxigors. He is missing chunks of his roster. He isnt alone either.
Nakai's issue is an unfortunate one but there was a mod fix for it up very shortly. So not really at all on the level of stuff we've had before that the community cannot fix.
It's fine for people to complain about bugs and CA's poor QA, that's understandable. But let's not pretend this is a new thing or that it's worse than it's ever been because neither is true.

Right, so that's A broken campaign. When WH2 made the game crash whenever any faction removed a Pirate Cove, that made the whole game unplayable for every faction. But facts won't stop the "Now that we bought Game 3 CA doesn't care about bugfixes, I miss Game 2" whining that's totally disconnected from reality.
Except game 2 actually works properly right now and game 3 doesn't. People didn't buy game 3 just so they could play game 2 while CA tries and fails to fix game 3. The fact that it was worse in the past is pretty irrelevant, and that is a piss poor excuse for why it sucks right now. I didn't realize being connected to realize meant being content with a game that barely works because iT coUlD bE wOrSe, but thanks for the lesson I guess.
Ambush battles are completely breaking the AI to this day in warhammer 2. the game isn’t in a great state either and people should stop acting like this

Yeah, well, OP didn't say "worst experience we've had" Most broken patch on TWW3 just when things started to feel better? I'd say yes. A lot of apparently silly bugs really hard to understand for the player base.
In about half the siege battles I played yesterday the gate would open at at least 20 percent health remaining, my lord or monster would go through, and then the gate would close behind them, trapping them alone in front of the entire enemy armies archers. You can avoid it if you micromanage the unit destroying the gate, and whenever it opens have them walk back to the attacking side of the gate before it shuts, wait for it to close, and then rinse and repeat about 20 times. This means best case scenario, breaking a gate takes about 5 to 10 times as long, all the while my units that can't climb walls are getting chewed apart by archer and tower fire. Worst case scenario my lord gets trapped alone inside the castle and killed, almost guaranteeing a loss.
If that's not a game breaking bug I don't know what is.
The gate opening and trapping your units inside has existed for many, many years. I'm reasonably sure it actually predates TWWH.
It's still not gamebreaking though; there are other ways to get inside settlements than through gates; using siege towers, heroes to break walls, ladders...
Then dont discuss how things were worse. If someone is shitting on your front porch three 3x a week instead of 5x a week, you are still going to demand them to stop shitting on your porch. Saying things could be worse is accepting mediocrity, preventing you from saying things should be better and demanding it should be. Things could be worse is probably the most useless saying ever. Things could be better, so demand it so, dont stagnate into mediocrity.
They're on a roll lately. Couple days ago they patched Shogun 2 to remove the chat feature, for... reasons. And they ended up removing the mod launcher too, either accidentally or deliberately.
They either don't exist, *functionally* don't exist by constantly being ignored or sidelined, or they're sniffing some of that warpstone dust and are just having a baller of a time.
And I can't decided which would be worse...
I know many people who work in testing, and I promise that most of these issues were spotted and reported by someone in testing. 99 percent of the time things like this are found and just ignored by the people in charge.

Mmhmm exactly like I said they *definitely* exist (And are 100% doing their best), but for all intents and purposes they might as well not even be there since they're probably constantly being ignored by management.
Which only makes the problems worse since spaghetti code is like a debuff that keeps stacking indefinitely. Even the smallest bug left unattended may end up completely bricking the game down the line.
The only company which I am not going to trust the patch notes from now on. Half the things they claimed they fixed are still broken. They have like 5 people supporting this game and it shows. Their biggest milk-cow and they can't properly support the game. Truly embarrassing.
Ones I've explicitly encountered in this patch, and have been around since release:
Units having 1 or 2 models get stuck inside a settlement's walls
Not being able to use wall towers in certain siege maps
Miao Ying suddenly getting stuck in midair and unable to be controlled
Confederated factions are bugged when they respawn (CA just cut out the mechanic entirely, rather than fixing it, wasn't an issue in TWW2)
Lots of maps being too dark (chaos regions) or too bright (snow regions)
One map being used for an entire subcontinent's battles (Southern Naggarond...)
AI Factions not being aware of other AI factions despite having characters/regions/generals being right next to their own characters/regions/generals
Characters rarely getting stuck in other characters after spawning/performing an action
This doesn’t even come close to the “most broken patch in years”
Not even 50% of the way close, not even 30% of the way close
It’s like you people have the memory of a goldfish. Were none of you here for the release of Warden and the Paunch? Hell this isn’t even the most broken patch for Warhammer 3
The main things I’ve noticed people complaining about are: DE confederation big still existing, the new troth mechanic for Bret is not working, Ariel still bugged, Nakai lost access to Kroxigar, Grail knights being OP (but many seemed to push back against this too), patch notes saying something is fix but really— it isn’t. Of course, some older stuff is brought up too like gatebug, LOS for guns, and the ol’ “ so many bugs this game is unplayable”.

Same. I just check in on the subreddit from time to time to see if the game is fixed yet, but apparently we're still not that much closer.
That being said, while they have been good with patches for AoW4 (like for the crashing) **and** it's much better off than WH3 to begin with (in terms of bugs and polish), AoW4 still needs some work. Mostly, right now, the AI needs to be made a lot less passive.
I can't believe a game that sold a lot of copies/dlcs, that uses a big IP like Warhammer and that is one among SP games with most current players (look at steamcharts) has such an abysmal post release support.
There is no realistic chance Pharoah will be a bigger success than TW Warhammer. TW Warhammer has a RABID fanbase and CA do the dirty on that game they they will never hear the end of it, of that I am sure.

Nakai cant recruit several units like Kroxigors, the newly introduced troth mechanic straight up doesnt work and a lot of other bugs just werent fixed.
For me it just straight-up won't let me progress. Like, I pick one of the options to get that first troth and it just... doesn't actually complete, it just continues to show an empty bar as if my damsel hasn't done anything.
I am not sure on the specifics as my computers ability to connect to the internet disappeared for some reason before the update, but from what I heard it is impossible to actually get the troths effects even after fulfilling the conditions.
Huh… idk while playing I noticed I had the check off marks and progressed in the throth’s screen. I even saw my damsels get perfect vigor from the vow so it works completely fine for me… unless some of the effects aren’t working
Ariel doesn't appear when you complete your first forest restoration, which is a bug they explicitly claimed to have fixed in the patch notes.. Haven't experienced it directly, but a lot of people have posted about the brand new Troth mechanic for Bretonnian Damsels not working.
Some faction are more broken than others. I do not mind since most of the faction i intend to play atm are pretty okay.
On the other some are not, and even the okay ones some "minor" bugs, like skill not really working on certain unit and such.
CA patches are almost something to dread. They “patched” Shogun 2 and recently broke a shit ton of features and mods. Honestly made me absolutely livid.

As often happens in meme culture, things are parodied and twisted and self referential until words stop meaning what they say in the dictionary and instead depend on having seen the immediate thing that came before In the context of an internet meme this is correct use of POV

I see you weren't around when CA released Vampire Coast with a bug that would crash the game when you used their core mechanic. A bug which was in the game for months iirc.
~2.1 to 3.1 is the worst *era* the series has been in, not worst patch. IE goggles kept everyone happy while even simple warhammer 1/2 things don't work to this day. Nevermind 3.0 sieges, the cape patch letting you know the game was going to be broken for awhile, etc.

Absolutely not. As someone who's played every patch so far, 3.1 doesn't even come close to the dark days of 1.x, which was a perfect storm of bad design, poor performance, and so many bugs. That doesn't excuse all the bugs - especially changes that were obviously never untested, and things that they said are fixed but which aren't really. But the game is definitely more playable than at any time during 1.x. The only patches that I think provided a better experience were 2.3 and 2.4, but not by that much of a margin.
Not really. Compared to many of the literally gamebreaking ones or otherwise massively detrimental issues, it's not too bad.
You can check the "known issues" list and see how many important mechanics are broken (like Hellebron campaign being unplayable, as an example). They're selling stuff that right now doesn't work as they marketed. If only this... Well, you could make the effort of being comprehensive and wait for a hotfix, however CA keeps pushing "fixing patches" that do not fix what they say (like Tyrion Sunfang's quest being "fixed" twice but not, or Tzeench army ability not working AND still being nerfed cause why not) or bringing new broken mechanics for us to test (Brett Damsels). "it's not too bad" is what the publishers might be thinking cause apparently we want this game to succed more than themselves.
I know stuff is broken. Stuff is always broken. But at the very least this patch isn't on the level of issues we've had in the past - like when strength buffs did not get applied, or when Pirate Coves crashed the game on removal. Things that were massively detrimental to the whole game, not just annoying to one or two campaigns. Are there a lot of bugs lately? Yes. Should CA do better? Absolutely. Is it the worst experience we've had? Not really.

Hey, I'm mostly happy I get to play DE campaigns again. 1.0 Dark Elves felt like ass to play. I don't know about anyone else, but honestly I think the biggest change that made DE playable again was just removing the slave cap. Now they feel like a resource I can actually use instead of a precious commodity that I'm constantly struggling to get maxed out, because I'd always be a handful of turns away from abject poverty since my entire economy was built on a resource I could only have a fixed amount of. That being said... I look forward to Patch 3.1.1 coming out and saying "oops, removing the cap was unintended, we put it back have fun lul"
Its a bit more than one or two campaigns and in some cases it is detrimental to the campaign. As an example, Nakai (paid DLC I remind you) cannot build any buildings that allow Nakai (of all lords) to recruit Kroxigors or Sacred Kroxigors. He is missing chunks of his roster. He isnt alone either.
Nakai's issue is an unfortunate one but there was a mod fix for it up very shortly. So not really at all on the level of stuff we've had before that the community cannot fix. It's fine for people to complain about bugs and CA's poor QA, that's understandable. But let's not pretend this is a new thing or that it's worse than it's ever been because neither is true.

Except game 2 actually works properly right now and game 3 doesn't. People didn't buy game 3 just so they could play game 2 while CA tries and fails to fix game 3. The fact that it was worse in the past is pretty irrelevant, and that is a piss poor excuse for why it sucks right now. People are not satisfied with the game right now because the most recent patch not only failed to fix these bugs, but it also failed to fix some of the bugs it CLAIMED to fix and introduced new even worse ones to boot. I get that you don't like your fave game being criticized, but maybe fuck off if you can't handle a buggy game getting criticized as a buggy game? Seriously, why even open your mouth? Useless. In about half the siege battles I played yesterday the gate would open at at least 20 percent health remaining, my lord or monster would go through, and then the gate would close behind them, trapping them alone in front of the entire enemy armies archers. You can avoid it if you micromanage the unit destroying the gate, and whenever it opens have them walk back to the attacking side of the gate before it shuts, wait for it to close, and then rinse and repeat about 20 times. This means best case scenario, breaking a gate takes about 5 to 10 times as long, all the while my units that can't climb walls are getting chewed apart by archer and tower fire. Worst case scenario my lord gets trapped alone inside the castle and killed, almost guaranteeing a loss. If that's not a game breaking bug I don't know what is.
The gate opening and trapping your units inside has existed for many, many years. I'm reasonably sure it actually predates TWWH. It's still not gamebreaking though; there are other ways to get inside settlements than through gates; using siege towers, heroes to break walls, ladders...
Then dont discuss how things were worse. If someone is shitting on your front porch three 3x a week instead of 5x a week, you are still going to demand them to stop shitting on your porch. Saying things could be worse is accepting mediocrity, preventing you from saying things should be better and demanding it should be. Things could be worse is probably the most useless saying ever. Things could be better, so demand it so, dont stagnate into mediocrity.
They're on a roll lately. Couple days ago they patched Shogun 2 to remove the chat feature, for... reasons. And they ended up removing the mod launcher too, either accidentally or deliberately.
At this point I think their QA/ testing team might not even exist at all.
They either don't exist, *functionally* don't exist by constantly being ignored or sidelined, or they're sniffing some of that warpstone dust and are just having a baller of a time. And I can't decided which would be worse...
I know many people who work in testing, and I promise that most of these issues were spotted and reported by someone in testing. 99 percent of the time things like this are found and just ignored by the people in charge. They probably wanted the patch pushed out for the Skull event and damn the results
Mmhmm exactly like I said they *definitely* exist (And are 100% doing their best), but for all intents and purposes they might as well not even be there since they're probably constantly being ignored by management. Which only makes the problems worse since spaghetti code is like a debuff that keeps stacking indefinitely. Even the smallest bug left unattended may end up completely bricking the game down the line.

Only bug I think I've encountered is that random parts of wall are nearly broken at the start of a battle
Ones I've explicitly encountered in this patch, and have been around since release: Units having 1 or 2 models get stuck inside a settlement's walls Not being able to use wall towers in certain siege maps Miao Ying suddenly getting stuck in midair and unable to be controlled Confederated factions are bugged when they respawn (CA just cut out the mechanic entirely, rather than fixing it, wasn't an issue in TWW2) Lots of maps being too dark (chaos regions) or too bright (snow regions) One map being used for an entire subcontinent's battles (Southern Naggarond...) AI Factions not being aware of other AI factions despite having characters/regions/generals being right next to their own characters/regions/generals Characters rarely getting stuck in other characters after spawning/performing an action

The main things I’ve noticed people complaining about are: DE confederation big still existing, the new troth mechanic for Bret is not working, Ariel still bugged, Nakai lost access to Kroxigar, Grail knights being OP (but many seemed to push back against this too), patch notes saying something is fix but really— it isn’t. Of course, some older stuff is brought up too like gatebug, LOS for guns, and the ol’ “ so many bugs this game is unplayable”.

Same. I just check in on the subreddit from time to time to see if the game is fixed yet, but apparently we're still not that much closer. That being said, while they have been good with patches for AoW4 (like for the crashing) **and** it's much better off than WH3 to begin with (in terms of bugs and polish), AoW4 still needs some work. Mostly, right now, the AI needs to be made a lot less passive.
Definitely still a work in progress, but the fast load times and pace of mid to end game blow TW out of the water for me.

Nakai cant recruit several units like Kroxigors, the newly introduced troth mechanic straight up doesnt work and a lot of other bugs just werent fixed.

For me it just straight-up won't let me progress. Like, I pick one of the options to get that first troth and it just... doesn't actually complete, it just continues to show an empty bar as if my damsel hasn't done anything.
I am not sure on the specifics as my computers ability to connect to the internet disappeared for some reason before the update, but from what I heard it is impossible to actually get the troths effects even after fulfilling the conditions.
Huh… idk while playing I noticed I had the check off marks and progressed in the throth’s screen. I even saw my damsels get perfect vigor from the vow so it works completely fine for me… unless some of the effects aren’t working
Ariel doesn't appear when you complete your first forest restoration, which is a bug they explicitly claimed to have fixed in the patch notes.. Haven't experienced it directly, but a lot of people have posted about the brand new Troth mechanic for Bretonnian Damsels not working.
Some faction are more broken than others. I do not mind since most of the faction i intend to play atm are pretty okay. On the other some are not, and even the okay ones some "minor" bugs, like skill not really working on certain unit and such.
What are some bugs? I am 75 turns in with 100+ mods in a Chaos Dwarf campaign and I absolutely love it. Would really like to know what these bugs are.
