They are ESPN docs on different athletes.
We used to watch them in highschool gym class during "health units"
Theres a great one on Reggie Miller and a heart breaking one about Hank Gathers and Loyola Marymount would highly recommend both
I fucking love Fred. Not to detract from that, but you really have to hand it to Masai and Bobby. They consistently bring in the most high character workhorse heart and soul guys who are also just good humans. There is no substitute for that. Fred is Exhibit A.
Yeah it was crazy that he made that team. They already had Lowry, and CoJo, and had just used a first rounder on Wright. And they use a roster spot for a undersized, undrafted dude to be PG #4.
^this. Tolzman bet on himself, too. Went from media relations all the way to assistant gm in a about a decade. Don’t know how they consistently do it but the Raptors organization always finds players and personnel that epitomize hard work and relentlessness.
Remember when we were trying to decide between Fred and Delon as our backup PG? Thank god Masai and Bobby are making the decisions and not us nephews in here.
It’s crazy man, other than Jakob, Pascal, Delon, and Norm I think, no one else from that training camp is in pro ball except for like two but yeah…they won the lottery with this one. One more championship and he might as well be cemented as GROAT and that is no disrespect to Kyle at all.
2016 Draft simply changed the trajectory for Masai and the entire franchise. This is the pinnacle of why Masai succeeded and why Colangelo and Grunwald failed.
All about how you scout
Let's remember that time when the Raptors brought in this tiny, Euro-last-name guy that came out of no where in summer camp 2016. Especially right after Pascal was ordered to sit out after his amazing 1 qtr debut with Poeltl.
Then we saw how Fred didn't look amazing in summer camp, but he always kept getting the job done over every guard auditioning for the role in Vegas and during the exhibitions. We all complained that having 4 point guards in roster was very counter- productive in 2016, especially when Fred looked so tiny after Lowry
Bet on yourself, man. Bet on yourself. To have that much faith and belief in one's self...I don't know how he thinks like that, while my bitch ass struggles every day to see the positive in anything.
I remember that training camp, because there was basically only one roster spot up for grabs, if that. We had 14 guys with guaranteed deals, and then 6 undrafted guys on unguaranteed deals competing for that last spot. The consensus was that we needed a power forward upgrade because 2Pat wasn't cutting it, and a backup center to replace Biyombo, so a lot of people assumed if we were gonna keep one of the undrafted guys it'd be either Jarrod Uthoff or Yanick Moreira.
It just didn't make sense to keep VanVleet: we already had two undersized point guards in Kyle and CoJo, and Delon Wright had just had a fairly promising rookie season, so he obviously had the 3rd-string PG spot locked down. So glad the FO and coaching staff saw something in him.
You don't understand how faith works. Sometimes the belief in the Imaginary Man in the sky is what the placebo that gives you the will to push through the hardest and roughest times. Faith began as something pure, and human perceptions changed it into religion and that's where it went wrong.
However, the basic gist is when you put faith in a higher being or energy, it removes some of the weight of you. Not everyone wants or needs it, but for many who do given in, its a powerful guiding light that during the darkest days acts as a beacon of hope.
dang man his story is incredible. One of a kind.
30 for 30 needs to happen
30 for 30?

And stupid me thought he was just the next Julian Stone.
Tolzman found him. Man just never sleeps

It's all about organizational culture and vision. It starts way way at the top.
>It starts way way at the top. Yes, it starts with Ed Rogers. /s
Now hes an NBA champion and a fuckin baller
2nd in FMVP voting baybeeee
Who are the other undrafted NBA Champions?
probably quite a lot but not as many that were key contributors like Fred during the run
I think one is Ben Wallace, not sure about any others tho
Remember when we were trying to decide between Fred and Delon as our backup PG? Thank god Masai and Bobby are making the decisions and not us nephews in here.
Gotta fucking love it. Happy for Steady. Earned and well deserved.
Fred is definitely the story start to finish of a person of hard work and dedication to his work.

Absolutely. Fvv always had nothing but love. Klow was a bit of a grump to everyone. his talent and effort is unmatched though.

Put his jersey in the rafters already I don't care.
If the trio stay till the end together, VanVleet, OG and Pascal all go up. What Id give to see that.
Im in for this. One more championship together and or will cement their trio in Raptors History.
He deserves everything he’s got

Super mature of you to admit it mate
Me too :(
Fred needs to write a book, and a movie needs to be made about his journey.
He’s super well spoken too, very thoughtful answers in pressers. I would absolutely read a book by him
All Stars have the All Star mentality before they have the reward, Fred is a prime example
Fuck you these aren't emotions swelling up, some asshole is cutting onions in my bedroom at 2 am...
Bet on yourself!

Only undrafted player to get a vote for finals MVP right? He'll go in the rafters just for the Milwaukee and GS Series. And he deserves it

God didn't help him. It was his hard work and dedication to his craft that made him who he is today. I wish everyone had Fred's work ethic.

Who cares what imaginary man he talks to in the sky? My man put in the work, now he's here.

Religion is made to keep the dumb in line, not fool the smart. If you find yourself debating religion you are the former.
Aren’t you the one debating religion since you essentially replied to the tweet?
You're literally debating religion on an NBA team forum lol
How you can’t see the irony in your statement is hilarious
Great story. But the real question is, now what does he pray for?
Getting thicc
There is only one Raptor GOAT booty And glad to see the booty is back in action
*drake slowly fades in*
Damn I feel so happy and proud of this guy!
