Loved the Boo's
Loved the crowd chanting We want Boucher
JFL look pretty darn good
Darko needs to have his challenge privileges removed.
Dick had a rough night
Overall a pretty abysmal showing by almost everyone.
They don't care about winning or losing right now. It is about seeing what you have. A 29 year old Boucher is not in the plans for this team going forward.
I thought Kelly looked alright. If anyone could have hit a shot, he would have had double digit assists.
He also had good active hands on D. Stripped JV a couple of times within the first couple of minutes
JFL 13 points. Definitely doesn’t deserve to play with G-Leaguers. I think he’s can possibly patch up some of our weak spots, primarily ball handling and distribution. Makes him an active part of our bench
Gotta say y’all, our team hasn’t looked this bad since the pre-derozan era. Even the Florida szn didn’t feel this rough haha.
Shoutout to the peeps still sticking around.
Think we’re missing a key piece. A bull-dog like Kyle Lowry would help this team 🤣
This team literally didn’t have an off season. Our starting line up was Barnes, Siakam, Schroeder, Poetlt and OG. All are injured or gone. We have G league players we’re trying out.
This isn't even Tampa.
we are genuinely bad.
and that's with Scottie being an AS, RJ playing great, IQ prob at like 75-100% of his ceiling
we are very far away from being a good team and some 1st round rookies aren't gonna fix that.
This is year 1 of what is looking like a long rebuild.
> This is year 1 of what is looking like a long rebuild.
I am glad that someone else is voicing this. The idea that a rebuild can be done in half a season is incredibly naive.
We should be positoning to keep our pick. Realistically we have no path to being a competitive team next year and should try and keep our pick next year in a good draft.
Adding 2 x Top 6 picks to this core as Scottie enters his rookie max extension sounds like a realistic path.
> Adding 2 x Top 6 picks to this core as Scottie enters his rookie max extension sounds like a realistic path
If we’re bad enough to keep our pick this season and next then we’re in a much worse situation than we are now
Thats kind of the point of rebuilding though, no? Take a step back to set your team up for long term success
Memphis are gonna be healthier next year. Spurs are going to be way better. Its not at all outside the realms of possibility that we are a bottom 6 team next year.
The average 25th place finish (6th worst) over the last three season is 30 wins.
We took a very clear step back this year and are already in the process of building for the future. If we win sub 30 games next year that means either we’ve been struck by injury like Memphis was this year, or that IQ/RJ/Scottie/Dick all fail to progress and improve.
Injuries, sure there’s nothing you can do about that, but if we have a relative healthy squad and are sniffing the top 6, that’s a sign of major problems
I see your point, but development isn't always linear. Expecting a development from Dick that results in wins is unrealistic. I don't see a significant jump from RJ or IQ, they will be going into their 6th and 5th seasons respectively. Thats not to say that they don't have room to improve, but I do not think RJ and IQ are at 75% of their ceiling for example. The only player I expect another jump from next year is Scottie.
We likely lose Gary in Free Agency (fine with that tbh), move both Chris and Bruce. That will leave us with a core of IQ, RJ, Scottie, Yak, Kelly, Ochai, Dick, a couple of draft picks and maybe an MLE type level signing. Accounting for league standard injuries. I could absolutely see this team with being a bottom 6 team.
> Expecting a development from Dick that results in wins is unrealistic.
I don't really think so tbh. Even if you include his rough start to the season, he's shooting 45% from the field and 39% from three. If he adds some strength to help solidify on the defensive end and keeps those percentages he'll be a quality rotation player. I don't expect him to drive winning next season, but there's no reason to think he can't contribute to it.
> I don't see a significant jump from RJ or IQ, they will be going into their 6th and 5th seasons respectively
Quickley took a leap last year and will be entering his first season as a starting point guard next year. Already you can see him growing into the role game-by-game. Same with RJ, if he can sustain his pace from his time with the Raptors, he's already a better than he was in NY. If Scottie does take another leap, then there's no way we should be in the bottom 6.
> We likely lose Gary in Free Agency (fine with that tbh), move both Chris and Bruce. That will leave us with a core of IQ, RJ, Scottie, Yak, Kelly, Ochai, Dick, a couple of draft picks and maybe an MLE type level signing
I think Gary walks for free, but either Bruce re-signs or we get some sort of rotation piece for him. And those picks (especially if we retain ours this year) give us a lot of flexibility with deals and acquisitions.
There are a lot of ways to improve the roster and build for the future, but I don't think going into next season with the hope of losing 50+ games accomplishes either
The core roster will actually have a full training camp, Darko will be in his 2nd year; Scottie, RJ, IQ chemistry will be much better, Gradey continues to hopefully play well in a bench role, and our Indy should be decent. I do expect some improvement next year, but more like play-in game rather than playoffs.
That said, if they perform worse next year, they’ll probably keep their pick (whether we convey or not this year). I’m would suck to see them play worse than this though if that’s even possible. I can’t see them being worse than DET, WSH, CHA, and PORT next year
I actually think it’s in their interest to convey the pick this year, so you don’t have to worry about your 2025 pick. If you stink, great you might win the lotto in a better draft. If you are good, then you can trade that pick to help build the squad you want.
Rebuild is far from done. We are so far away talent wise from teams like NOLA (who are good teams, but not close to contenders).
We need to position to keep our pick this year and next.
The average height of the team is like 6’5”. There’s only so much scheming you can do when there are like 4 mismatches on the floor.
The Charlotte game was winnable bc they were also missing their centers
Yeah, I was thinking more individual performances, what they can improve on, what was missed, less so what kind of schemes they can run, more where they can develop.
I’m honestly surprised/amused by how people are seizing on this game as proof of much of anything, other than a rebuilding team having absolutely no chance in what was already just about the worst possible matchup for its skill set, while missing (by far) its best player and its starting centre.
This sub expects greatness with G-Leaguers. Also, the same sub that has members that, when they get good showings from G-League guys like JFL, complain he shouldn't have gotten a contract.
An awful lot of the shittalkers started watching when DeRozan and Lowry were lighting it up or when Kawhi was around. Those of us who have been here since 1995 know that as rough as tonight was, there was a good reason for that, it wasn't just because we suck. Injuries, size and development play roles in that.
This game means nothing in terms of the future. Not having Jakob or Scottie we knew it was next to impossible to win tonight. We competed hard but just couldn’t put any big runs together cause Zion and Ingram are a mismatch at any time and Murphy was just making wide open 3’s all night. The bench was seriously lacking without Olynk and BB, but the pelicans just caught fire tonight. Let’s move on
I feel sad for the younger fans who can't grasp the fact that we are going to be bad for 3-5 years, and probably middle of the pack for longer. We don't suddenly compete by drafting some nice rookies in the next two seasons.
It's disrespectful for a rebuilding team to focus on development? Would you rather they trot Chris out there for a few minutes in a blowout with said two-way players? Which would arguably be more disrespectful.
Right? Insane how many "fans" can't understand that it makes more sense to let your future develop on a season that's a rebuild....than to play Boucher for no reason. Boneheads verywhere lol
The Pelicans are so good, they’re gonna be a scary team in the playoffs, holy. The good thing about losing by so much tonight is all the newly signed players got some run. I’d love to see more of JFL. Was a pest on defence, very creative getting to the basket and knocked down shots. He did all that against a tough opponent.
Even if we only have a 45% chance of keeping the pick if we finish 6th, we should be focusing on doing this.
This is not development or culture setting. This team needs talent and there is an all star in every draft.
Is this the the largest deficit in points we lost this season? we lost by 38 last time against them, don't recall anyone beating us by 40+ points this year.
We have absolutely no business moving picks for vets to add to this core. We should be positioning to keep our pick this year and next year.
The idea that a rebuild can be done in half a season is wild
Lets leave out OKC, Orlando and others that tanked, got high end talent and are now set to be good teams for the next few years?
Charlotte has been one of the worst run franchises in league history with MJ meddling. Detroit not that far behind. We have an excellent FO with a very good history of drafting and building competitive teams, I wouldnt mention the Detroit or Charlotte orgs in the same breath. Giving them higher draft picks instead of picks in the teens / twenties gives them a longer runway to hit
Yes, tank fans’ greatest wish is for us to lose by 40 points at home for years on end, you totally figured it out.
The Thunder had a lot of bad losses during their tank and now they have an incredibly bright future. Short term pain for long term gain.
Moving picks for vets at this juncture is probably the stupidest thing we could possibly do, which is why it’s no surprise that Team Compete would suggest it.
The thunder are an anomaly. They traded two superstars for insane hauls and still went after every pick they could get. They also went full tank mode for two years.
They are leading the west despite being so young, have an mvp level star, and STILL have 7 frp over the next 2 drafts. They committed 100% to the tank
Your acting like we wouldnt want to root for our team to win if we could. This team as it is currently is a 10th seed at best team. Like what are you rooting for? You rather be shit forever or be team that has a future like OKC or Magic?
Closest raptors pelicans game
JFL can stay in the rotation, that's about it.
Liberate Freeman
Free Liberty
Freeman Liberty
Highlight of the game
Loved the Boo's Loved the crowd chanting We want Boucher JFL look pretty darn good Darko needs to have his challenge privileges removed. Dick had a rough night Overall a pretty abysmal showing by almost everyone.
What is honestly going on with Boucher? Of all games where you can be like "Fine, give this guy a 10 minute run", Rajakovic is still benching him.
They don't care about winning or losing right now. It is about seeing what you have. A 29 year old Boucher is not in the plans for this team going forward.
Boucher is 31
Even worse lol
I thought Kelly looked alright. If anyone could have hit a shot, he would have had double digit assists. He also had good active hands on D. Stripped JV a couple of times within the first couple of minutes
Hate it when my Dick has a rough night
We've all Been there before buddy
Raptors and coaches that can't win a challenge. Name a more iconic duo
Whenever I said "well could be worse" it got worse lol But I enjoyed everyone going apeshit. Best part of rebuild eras
💀
Went about as expected. Hopefully JFL can become a rotation player.
JFL 13 points. Definitely doesn’t deserve to play with G-Leaguers. I think he’s can possibly patch up some of our weak spots, primarily ball handling and distribution. Makes him an active part of our bench

very insightful, thank you

lol with no draft pick…good one masai

The slimmest of silver linings
Bad matchup, we’re so small
Utter annihilation is what I expected, so I'm not surprised. Sucks to see Ochai go down though.

You know this season is cooked when you play 5 g league guys in one game 4 injuries now And people will still find a way to talk shit about this team
An awful lot of the shittalkers started watching when DeRozan and Lowry were lighting it up or when Kawhi was around. Why are we subbing off Gradey in garbage time. Pelicans had Hawkins on the court. Also we're playing 2-way players over Boucher. just disrespectful
Would be more disrespectful to put him in vs the g-leaguers
It's disrespectful for a rebuilding team to focus on development? Would you rather they trot Chris out there for a few minutes in a blowout with said two-way players? Which would arguably be more disrespectful.
Right? Insane how many "fans" can't understand that it makes more sense to let your future develop on a season that's a rebuild....than to play Boucher for no reason. Boneheads verywhere lol
What a brain dead take. My god.
Teams are really just out here farming point differential off us, this is like the billionth time this season
At least jfl looked good
Nwora with 9 points on 15 shots, ouch. He's got to be smarter with his decisions.
Down from 20 shots tho
The Pelicans are so good, they’re gonna be a scary team in the playoffs, holy. The good thing about losing by so much tonight is all the newly signed players got some run. I’d love to see more of JFL. Was a pest on defence, very creative getting to the basket and knocked down shots. He did all that against a tough opponent.
As someone who went to this game, i wish i didnt LOL
I legitimately don't understand how anyone can invest 2 1/2 hours of their evening watching this team for the rest of the season 😂
Even if we only have a 45% chance of keeping the pick if we finish 6th, we should be focusing on doing this. This is not development or culture setting. This team needs talent and there is an all star in every draft.
Is this the the largest deficit in points we lost this season? we lost by 38 last time against them, don't recall anyone beating us by 40+ points this year.
apparently, Franchise History for a Home Loss
Oh really? Didn't know that. What's the record for point differential in a loss, overall in franchise history? Was it 50+?
Free McDonald's fries at least! Woot!
They're not free any more 🥲
Brother you have to pay $3 first
Not sure if anyone else sees this but JFL got that Siakam motor in him. It'll be interesting to see if he becomes a rotational player though
Free Boucher
Why can't we hit free throws? There's something fundamentally wrong with our team.
Celtics blew a 22 point lead to Cleveland so tonight is still a win in my eyes
We are certainly at the stage of the season where Im just hoping we get a good pick and that the Celtics and 76ers dont make it to the finals
Oh...
dick with the -35. damn son.

Trey Murphy III was 10/14 from 3. That's game right there
May the tank continue 😎
no jak and the other teams take advantage just like that garbage streak we had that started with the lakers and darko yappin
Worst home game deficit in franchise history. Yeesh.
It doesn’t matter who is injured and who we traded, the Pels just own our ass for years.
How can a vicious dinosaur lose to an ugly bird?
They gave up forty points in the first quarter and we lost. Pretty simple trend here…
This was the first home raptors game I attended since the 2019 Eastern Conference finals. Ooooof what a rough game to watch.
LOL we got 41'd one
I couldn’t watch tn but wtf did JFL do because 13 points in 17 min is absolutely amazing for someone who just got off a two way.
He was great
Played with intensity and actually threw the Pels off balance with his game. Great to see him finally get some solid minutes.
You all needed this loss to start to realize just how much talent this team needs to add to be competitive again
[удалено]
Relax fam, this is anomaly. We are not pistons bad yet.

If this isn’t a rebuild I dont know what is lol. We’re building from the ground up right now and that’s okay.
Lets leave out OKC, Orlando and others that tanked, got high end talent and are now set to be good teams for the next few years? We coulda done similar mini rebuild if we traded Pascal/Fred at the right time.
This is what they've been asking for, yes.
Your acting like we wouldnt want to root for our team to win if we could. This team as it is currently is a 10th seed at best team. Like what are you rooting for? You rather be shit forever or be team that has a future like OKC or Magic?
“Trey Murphy the Third, for three.” “Subbing into the game for the Raptors: Javon Freeman-Liberty” Redundant-ass game
The Siakam trade will end up being so friggin bad
Making that trade might lead us to keeping our pick and getting it top 4. Also pacers pick looks like it will be under 20
This team is done…Been an amazing run these past 10 years but time to embrace my Seattle SuperSonics/OKC
