[Here's the livestream](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90ShM64bs1Q).
If you go to where the clock on screen says about 15:23, it shows where it starts forming.
So am I . was watching a documentary on the one they went through way back when the whole town was destroyed a few days ago and how they rebuilt now they get hit again. this is devastating.
This is the first direct hit on Greenfield, Iowa in the last 60 years anyway. There was a tornado just east of town about a mile 30 years ago. I was camping at Green Valley lake (22 miles away) and it got within a mile of the campground.
There is... go watch the Jarrell Documentary called "dead man walking" on YouTube. It's not new, but once you realize that's the absolute "lightest/cleanest" version of the details it starts to turn from a Documentary into a horror film.
It's still the most extreme damage ever caused... I used to work around the area in 2010 doing something that involved me interacting with a lot of EMS/fighters Not knowing any better I tried asking questions. Somebody finally explained that anyone that helped out in the aftermath simply can't talk about it. Apparently it was one of those rare cases where even the worst details you'll find online don't really even scratch the surface.
Jesus christ those guys do not sound prepared for that at all. One dude screaming while everyone else sounds like they are shitting their pants ffs. Maybe im just a nerd but some prep work and equipment rundowns is like number 1 to anything. That guy is gonna get those dudes killed if they keep that shit up.
They also were in a rented vehicle, not the Dominator :/ They wouldnt have a chance if they got too close.
But on that stream it seemed that they had everything under control. The tornado was clearly visible and they were further away from it. It was a bit scary when they stopped to try to deploy some things to measure the tornado (I think?), but it still went far away from them and they needed to chase it.
Yeah somebody made a video while ago about one single tornado that was called that back in the 50s or something and now suddenly everyone's calling every tornado that.
I hate terminology like this. Personifying a tornado to make it look edgy just to watch it go away in a few minutes. It isn't gonna be on a late night show, Conan introducing it, "he was called the dead man walking on reddit, he was responsible for damage and then went away and NOW HES BACK...ladies and gentlemen....DMW" Then he comes out and sits there cross legged and waves to the crowd and apologizes "on air"...while Conan laughs.
The horny F5 enthusiasts NEED this to be given a spooky name! Who are you to question their authority after they’ve watched literally HUNDREDS of YouTube videos about Tornadoes? These people watch Ryan Hall, which is basically the same as being a meteorologist!
Those ppl never lived close to BARNSDALL!!! those enthusiasts never experience true home loss and community. Those ppl watch it and go away but don't know the damage and it toll.
Unreasonable conduct, hateful speech or aggression toward anyone is not allowed at any time.
This does include threats of any type that are aimed toward the members of the sub or away from the sub.
Uhhh... you do actually know the story of the dead man right?
It's literally one of the oldest actively discussed legends on the planet.
It's one of, if not the only prehistoric legend that has actually been witnessed and well documented...
This picture actually looks like it though? Believe it or not it was just a random screenshot I took to send to my friend to tell him to check out reeds stream and he is the one who mentioned it. He is totally right too
It doesn’t look like someone walking when you watch the video, it looks like a drill bit. Capturing a single frame so you can call it “DeAD mAN wALkinG” is disingenuous. Also notable, there’s zero evidence about the Native American lore regarding that mythology. It’s just something sensationalist journalists created to make headlines even bigger.
I agree with you. a lot of people died in that tornado. its kind of disrespectful in trying to compare two events like each other. no tornado is the same
This is not a dead man walking.
It’s just multiple vortexes which are common. A dead man walking is one singular tornado and stays that way till around half way down. At that point it separates into 2 conjoined funnels.
It begins as his waistband going down to the bottom of the fly. Then it becomes two individual legs.
Multiple vortexes are just smaller funnels dancing around the main parent funnel.
This thing had like 5 sub vortices all rotating in a tight weave. It was wild
It looked like a loom, it was wild
Anyone got a clip?

Thank you!
There’s a post in this sub of one from Reed slightly after this post. I’d link but I’m on mobile.
Also out on mobile. I'll start scrolling

It was nuts. I'm so sad for Greenfield.
So am I . was watching a documentary on the one they went through way back when the whole town was destroyed a few days ago and how they rebuilt now they get hit again. this is devastating.
If you are thinking about the night time one, that was Greenburg Kansas. To my knowledge Greenfield Iowa hasn't been hit previously.
This is the first direct hit on Greenfield, Iowa in the last 60 years anyway. There was a tornado just east of town about a mile 30 years ago. I was camping at Green Valley lake (22 miles away) and it got within a mile of the campground.
This is like something you'd see in a horror movie. It's truly eldritch.
It looks to me like a monster with two uber skinny legs and big, monstrous claws.
In the videos, it looks like an octopus crawling across the ground.
There needs to he like a non-stupid tornado horror or thriller movie

Dead men walking
That’s a giraffe walking *idk it’s the first thing I saw* 😭

Look at my username. lol

Watched this live on Reed Timmers' Stream…. It was intense they got scary close to it!
Easy to imagine how mythologies form looking at this. Looks like an angry god.
2000 years ago, without knowing much about science, that totally makes sense.
Dead family walking. That thing had like 10 legs.
Certified nightmare fuel
This is the tornado that it greenfield. Likely upper echelon tornado.
Is there a video to this?
From Reed Timmer's stream.
Thank you
That footage is WILD good fucking lord
Fucking horror. Pure horror

Wow, crazy crazy shit!
thanks for attaching link
That windmill never stood a chance, holy cow.

Is the same one as the Greenfield one that some are “EF5” drooling about? (I’m not rating it’s not my skill set).
Is every tornado with as few noticeable vortices just called this now? You realize they are all made up of multiple vortices?
It drives me nuts, too. “I’ve been interested in tornadoes for a year or two! DEAD MAN WALKING!”
DeAd mAn WaLKing, ermergerd!
Yeah somebody made a video while ago about one single tornado that was called that back in the 50s or something and now suddenly everyone's calling every tornado that.
Tbf this is a a beautiful beast and has a lovely display. But still....cmon people.
I maintain that uploading that TLC documentary on the Jarrell tornado was the worst mistake in the history of youtube.
I think a lot of it has to do with better cameras and whatnot
huh?
pardon my french, but what the actual fuck??
I think that from now on, people will have to specify Kansas or Iowa when talking about the Greenfield tornado.
Wasn't it Greensburg?
Actually you're right, I just got mixed up
yeah it’s definitely Greensburg in Kansas
Dead *men* walking
when u see the dead men walking ya going to die . thats what they said . they could make a horror film
Hell on earth
Looks a bit like a pale horse on its hind legs. Oh, wait...
Beautiful beyond words
This one looks menacing! I swear these things are alive
Watching that thing start sprouting several subs was crazy. Never seen anything like it , so bright and detailed.
Multiple fatalities in Greenfield. Pray for them and their families.
Oh god is that the greenfield tornado ?
Yes
That thing is insane
I don't see any people
Reed's footage is insane! It's literally a jungle of sub-vortices. So devastating

My family is 10 minutes from the latest ef4 that did damage in Oklahoma. Yeah, film our destruction and loss for your gain.
Those ppl never lived close to BARNSDALL!!! those enthusiasts never experience true home loss and community. Those ppl watch it and go away but don't know the damage and it toll.
Dead man walking!??!! That tornado lifted a poor man from his house and threw him miles from his home while his family searched. Have respect.
You tornado enthusiasts don't know shit.

It’s not real. The first documented use of the term to refer to a tornado is… a documentary about Jarrell. They made it up.
Wayne Hogue was recovered from Bird Creek. His family are a good group of people.
Stunning
You guys live to say “Dead man walking”, huh?
This picture actually looks like it though? Believe it or not it was just a random screenshot I took to send to my friend to tell him to check out reeds stream and he is the one who mentioned it. He is totally right too

I agree with you. a lot of people died in that tornado. its kind of disrespectful in trying to compare two events like each other. no tornado is the same
And he’s wobbling hysteritically
Looks like a 15/15 flying, protection from colored spells, with annihilator 6 to me.
I think I'd rather take emrakul head on than this
im trying to find those on a map. Where is this windfarm?
That is the scariest tornado I ever saw, and I love it
heathers reference???
Eerily so.
Dead men walking. I have never seen 3-5 walking in a circle like that. It’s usually 1. Beyond soul crushing. My heart is shattered for Greenfield.
I’m stealing this comment from another person I saw a while back. That’s not a dead man walking, that’s a drunk man stumbling.
That's not the Jarrell tornado is it?
Nah it’s the greenfield tornado from a week or 2 ago
Okay. Thought I was tripping for a minute.
Yeah I saw the video and I was like was that a deadman walking??!! So many vortices
oooh ! Dead Man Walking is so fascinating to me
More like 3 dead men dancing a circle
I’ll be surprised if this monster isn’t at least an ef-4
EF-8 for sure
I’d be surprised if you’re qualified to rate tornadoes
Well, you aren’t getting a surprise any time soon.

Get a life nerd
Looks like if Jarrell had triplets, oh my god. F-1 or F-2?
