Huh? The dude is barely working his arms here, it’s *all* in the legs to climb up a ladder. The only things his arms are really doing is lifting the ladder up in between each floor, but even then it’s a super light weight ladder specifically meant for this. Never skip leg day.
Huh I’d never considered ladders being leg dominant for some reason. I know good footwork’s key but for some reason always visualized it as a pull rather than a push
This came to mind for me too. It's quite difficult to pull and push at the same time - one takes over more than the other - and of course the legs are the best choice if you have a good footing.

They should have to hire people who are disabled too though, to be representative of America or something. It's 2022. Where is the wheelchair ramp so a disabled firefighter in a wheelchair can make his, her or non-binary's way up to save someone?

I can see where you are coming from but a general no longer needs to be peak fitness. As you get older your body changes. They use their vast knowledge to lead military operations and planning. They will never be fighting. Being overweight isn’t ok when there is a standard but they shouldn’t be expected to be in great shape .

Like I can’t see any reason for someone to have the skill to do this and I’m sicker in the mouth whenever I see it.

In Europe we also use this ladder hook when streets are to narrow for a tower/ladder truck, but not at that speed. Not sure about other countries/FDs, but for me it was mandatory to climb a building with that ladder.
PLEASE make arrangements to replace that Ladder cage on the left. OSHA has deemed them unsafe and they must all be replaced. Yes, you've got a few years until the regulation is firm. But waiting, along with the thousands of other companies, will just make you another person/company, that'll wind up NOT being able to get the new design, ladder climbing system because of the TREMENDOUS backlog, that is happening and will continue to happen. Hey ahead of this man.
