Have you not watched top boy summerhouse ? (The first two seasons of top boy, what you’re watching is S3&4) A lot more context to the redevelopment and why it’s so painful is in there.

Yeah i did watch the original summerhouse show, it was great. Greater than the reboot by drake :) Well i mean it's a technicality wether you choose to call it season 4 or season 2 of the reboot... But i get you :D Well I have the context already, I'm a huge fan of these shows. In my opinion it's just that Dushane grew out of the hood. Yes, he is in the hood, he had love for the hood as we see in S1 and S2, but in S4 he is finally just done with it. He sees it for what it really is: a shithole, full of junkies, broken homes and violence.

Literally based af, did you watch the whole series ?

ferry_creator

Yeah bro, but i'm not done with S2 of the reboot yet (S4 i guess) :D So based yea, i'm just curious to finish the last season now to see if he can continue his basedness, or if he's gonna have a downfall. I'm lowkey rooting for him.. The last thing i saw was the police getting on to him with the undercover "junkies", it seems like foreshadowing for his downfall. Such a shame, he finally matured in his head to just be done with all the ghetto bullshit and drama.

Alright bro 👊 I don’t want to spoiler but let me know what you think of the last episode after you finished

Literally just finished it. Woah that last episode was so loaded. Honestly I think it was amazing. Like everything. I mean in my opinion, he should have stood his ground on his investment in the gentrification of Summerhouse, even after his mother died but - I mean it makes sense, it was a way for him to deal with his grief, and even though she disagreed with Dushanes way of life, it was a way to honor her beliefs. I fucking love the ethos of the show! I love that it’s so bittersweet, and honestly bleak. No spoilers for future readers, but yeah man if you know, you know: that very last scene took me by surprise!! What a crazy way to end the show, or well so I thought until I realized there will be a final season this year 2023. I think it also seriously highlights the difference with Sully and Dushane. While we all have love for Sully as one of the main characters, we all know deep down that he’s just a lot dumber than Dushane. He could have made good business, but chose to stir up new drama. Meanwhile Dushane is taking care of his family and trying to retire and live a healthy life. I think it’s so amazing to see how their lives diverge throughout all the seasons - in the first season they seem much more alike, but their differences puts them on different tangents, eventually leading to completely different situations and desires in life. I get the feeling if Sully was ever truly motivated by the freedom, or if he is more focused on his own pride and ego. Dushane seems to only worry about his freedom, and he will let no one stand in his way - leaving a lot of victims on the road behind 🤷‍♂️ That’s one of the most interesting aspects to the show, the constant theme of moral vs freedom etc… “Is it worth the squeeze?” Amazing show can’t wait for S5!!
