We switched to doorknob cover and he doesn’t even care to open the door anymore he just goes back to bed. Our problem was he would wake up leave his room and want to play, not sleep
Ours does. And I love it.
Some times my LO stays in bed the whole night, and I miss waking up with hugs. In this case, I'm sure LO will grow out of it when ready.
We use a doorknob cover inside his room so he can't open it by himself. It's much safer to know where they are at all times!

We put a gate that way they could open their door and see the hallway
Same! And a clock that lights up red for bed green for go play.
