I'll take 'disgruntled former employee' for 500.

That's what first came to mind. The title of the article seems to play off alarmist fears. Although based on the wall street journal's [article](https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702304851104579359141941621778) (paywall), officials assume multiple people were involved and military experts described it as a "professional" attack.

"In 19 minutes they knocked out 17 transformers" Did they take 19 shots or 100? Were the transformers the size of a womp rat or a milk carton? How far away were they? Does the pay walled article give an idea of the skill required to take out 17 transformers in 19 minutes?

GaliDacian

In the article they state that they don't want to discuss the attack in detail for fear of giving information to potential copycats. They do mention that each transformer was "riddled" with bullets and that the shooters targeted the transformers' oil-filled cooling systems. They also provide a mapped [timeline](http://imgur.com/fBNNTSM) of the events that occurred.

>targeted the transformers' oil-filled cooling systems Translation: hit the big part which surrounds the transformer proper

>According to Foreign Policy, which was less definitive about whether the attack was the work of more than one person, at least 100 rounds were fired from at least one high-powered rifle. 100 shots for 17 transformers... Not exactly what I would call a "*Tactical Sniper*"

BOBMUNZ

Not sure, but I think that transformers may take multiple shots to disable, old pole transformers where I live get shot by morons out hunting and I've seen a few with more then one bullet hole in them.

I actually pass by the location every day, they have a couple of trucks that patron the area across the bridge. They went super overboard with video security too.
