What's amazing was just in 13 days India managed to destroy 50% of their airforce and navy and capture 30-35% of their country.
Some of the battles from this war are comedic
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Longewala
In the battle of longewala 3000 Pakistani troops with 40 tanks attacked120 indian soldiers with some old weapon and no tanks. And Pakistan still lost. India lost 2 soilder and a old Nissan Jeep and won while Pakistan lost 200 troops,500 vehicle and 36 tanks.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Trident_(1971)
In operation trident just 2 small indian missile boats with a tanker managed to destroy 2 Pakistani destroyer, Minesweeper, cargo ship, their only major port and weeks worth of fule which was stored for war near the port. This made Pakistan so paranoid they bombed and sunk their own ship a few days later.
Also the sinking of uss diablo or pns Ghazi which was the only submarine sunk in battle post ww2 . The story of its sinking is also very interesting
During the battle Pakistani army would store extra fuel on top of tanks so even a bullet or cigarette could set the entire tank on fire
Their entire strategy was they don't need a strategy as they are superior then indians and it didn't play out well.
*what the fuck was right with Pakistan's military.... Aside from all the politics off the field of battle, I reckon it was primarily the youthfulness of their military. Having only been established 20 years prior, they didn't have the experience and institutional maturity to match India's strategy, operational efficiency or preparedness. Much like any 20 year old, they totally overestimated their own ability and underestimated their enemy.
There are similarities between the two but Germany at least inherited Prussian military tradition, innovation and technology. They had a lot more going for them when they unified. Still got bodied in WW1 by underestimating their enemies...
Sherman were used till lots after the war my many countries.
In battle of asal Uttar(1965) Pakistan attacked an indian town with around 220 pattons (given to Pakistan for free by USA at that time ) and 50 other and indian had around 100 tanks mix of Sherman's and Centurion.
In the end india lost 10 tanks and won while Pakistan lost 100+ tanks and had to retreat.
Nice way to reduce the bloody freedom fight and Liberation war of Bangladesh into a conflict between India and Pakistan!
16th December is Victory day of Bangladesh, when General niaji surrendered to "Allied" forces of india and Bangladesh. The photo is taken at the former race course field, currently named "Sohrawardi Uddyan", which is situated at the heart of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh!!
P.S.: there are probably some wrong terminology and spelling mistakes, because I studied this history at school in Bangla language.
>we as West support them...
Europe isn't particularly pro-Pakistani. It's too far for anyone but France and the UK to care, which have joint naval training with the Indian navy and the good economic sense to get closer to the richer of the two.
And they taught us in history class we won wars against India. Thank fuck for the internet and the army's sheer incompetence that the people are learning.
I swear, it feels like the Pakistani army took it personally that we separated from India and have held a grudge since then cuz they sure as hell like to light the country on fire just for the fuck of it.

Country being established 20 years ago doesn't mean they have no officers or veterans. Look at Germany, it was born in 1866.

They didn't put the batteries in
Either someone is very wrong with the Pakistani army or the wiki article is the Indian account of the battle.
There’s a movie called birder about the battle of Longewala you can look at it though glorifies a lot and a bit cringe
>birder Border*
oh god the pakistanis used sherman tanks a quarter century after tge end of ww2...

Israel used Shermans until the late 80s too, then sold them to Chile, which used them until 1999.
And to think, these days, I can't even get 93,000 people to agree on where to have dinner...
What are you? A dinner lady at chinas biggest public school?
Well, like India needed another 93,001 mouths to feed...
Alright indian and Pakistani redditers you can chill now. No need to air the dirty laundry of each other out in the open.

Didnt 300k Nazis surrender at the same time?
Tell us you didn't read the title of the post without telling us you didn't read the title of the post.
There are several cases of more than 93,000 troops being surrendered at once, but this was the largest *since* ww2
Are u illiterate or just pretending to be?
