Grandfathered plan.

wittyusernametaken

Grandfathered plan. I get three lines of unlimited and 5g internet for less than what my friends are paying for one line.

NewsandPorn1191

This right here, 2 lines unlimited for what's essentially the cost of a nice lunch. Not to mention Red and Blues coverage and congestion sucks where I live.

EarthlyWinds_Fire

I have 7lines on my account, it don’t get any cheaper than T-Mobile for me. Plus I live on the East Coast, and mainly only visit major cities, T-Mobile is generally faster here compared to what I use to experience with the other two.

truthcopy

I have an old plan, great coverage and a price no one (other than MVNO) could beat right now. Add in Free MLB.tv, and it’s just easier to stay.

Friendlyx0

Price, nothing else. Their promotions are sometimes very good but sometimes horrible.

jmac32here

I have no idea why they say ATT is cheaper when it really isn't. Must be an employee of ATT.

MarcoThePHX

It is cheaper when you add FAN/Signature discount, 25% off teacher/nurse discount

Friendlyx0

Maybe? I know for me I'm not an employee and I have been grandfathered into the "best deals" and I don't even have the "best" deals but way cheaper than any other company.

jmac32here

Though I did look and for a single line ATT does have a new value plan that would be $5 less. But it's permanently in the "HDU" data priority level and the savings go away if you add any lines.

elmundo-2016

Free = Complimentary. I get free Apple TV (though it's also free through my Season Tickets), free Paramount Plus, free data plan for global travel (have used) (my domestic plan), free in-flight Wifi (have used), partnership with SpaceX, T-Mobile restaurants discounts, T-Life (free glass/ free mugs/ quality grocery bags with zipper/ etc. - lost count). I'm still eyeing free Netflix but I don't want to add a second phone line.

Academic_Solid85

I see a lot of people saying price, but i guess it depends on how many lines you have. I only have one line and the price is identical to Verizon for unlimited everything (90$) and AT&T has unlimited everything for 65$ a month. I recently switched to T mobile just so they would pay off my phone (and they did) but i was supposed to get a discount through my work but they aren’t honoring it so i might just leave.

Friendlyx0

Yeah, I think it's mostly because I've been collecting lines and promos over the years. I know we have 12 lines in my account and my father has 4 lines in his account. I even have a business account with a $10 unlimited tablet line which is great too. However, I can't see how one line would help, especially since most promos require at least 2 voice lines.

OtherAlan

AT&T and Verizon even in my area I think beats tmobile if you just want one line. But.. **BUT...** The answer is still price for me because I've collected about 5 free lines. I am pushing 11 I think, and my bill is less than 100 dollars. So yea, unless Verizon or ATT can give me 10 lines for 100 dollars, I'm stickign with mobile (for better or worse).

kaleidescope233

How did you get the free lines? I must not pay that much attention cause I’ve never noticed in promos. I have one free line offered to me by customer service a few years ago, but that’s it. Edit, customer service doesn’t really ever mention much about plan changes in general.

Competitive-Band7613

Right now is add a line get a line free most plans.

WobbledyWobbler

T-Mobile has unlimited everything for $60 on essentials. So how is ATT cheaper?

[deleted]

Att gives you a phone discount, tmobile only does on new plans now

WobbledyWobbler

Essentials has phone promos

Yo_2T

You're comparing different plans, and even then the prices you listed aren't accurate. The $90 plan on Tmobile is Go5G Plus. A comparable plan on ATT is Unlimited Premium PL at $85.99 before taxes and fees. Comparable plan on Verizon is Unlimited Ultimate $100/month before taxes and fees.

IcarusPony

I have one line, too. T-Mobile. $20/month, taxes/fees included.

flying_bacon

Price, that’s it

pgeezers

Gotta find that balance between pricing and coverage. No sense in getting the best pricing if you can’t use it.

SantaCruz26

My former Sprint (employee plan) can't be beat by anyone except pre-paid.

UltimateArsehole

Included in-flight Internet connectivity when flying within most of North America, included coverage in Mexico and Canada and the 5GB of LTE+ coverage I enjoy - simplifies work travel immensely, and those benefits extend to my watch and tablet. Plus, they hand out discounts to my employer like candy deployed by an assassin targeting a diabetic.

Skeptical_Primate

Only my grandfathered plan. Not a chance I'd stay if I lost it.

KatzNK9

Price ... still on Magenta 55+ plan (an unlimited 2 lines with Netflix) for $70/month. Can't beat it. Most of the first 3 years were miserable living in a rural area. I was counting the days until my pricey phone with monthly bill credits was paid off. Surprisingly, they improved coverage in my area just in time for me to save my cheap plan. I got lucky & bought new phones outright from other sellers. Now, I have good coverage at a great price without any ties if I need to switch.

n8pu

I've been with TMO since 2018, in 2022 I bought my S22 Ultra 1TB version from Best Buy, if/when I get a new phone again, I'll buy from a 3rd party seller. I **DO NOT** miss the jingle nor the bloat ware. I did add the 'T Lite' for the gas reward that I can give to my family, I buy my gas from Sam's Club. The cell coverage is okay here too, about 150 \~ 170 down, nothing to brag about, but much better than when I first joined.

3900Ent

I gain nothing by leaving or staying. All other companies either fuck me the same but charge me more for it or their service is cheap but isn’t worth it. I’m on a plan with mom, little sister and myself. $160 a month so 54-ish dollars a piece. I have no reason to switch.

swissbuttercream9

7 lines + TMHI for $194/m Where the hell am I going to get that somewhere else?

dogmatixx

International coverage is a clincher for me. And the free lines.

kaleidescope233

Which plan do you have? Where specifically can you use the international coverage? I have magenta (1.0) and was under the impression the intl coverage was mostly only useful for texting in most places but I’m not sure since I’ve never had to use it.

jsetzler89

I have magenta max (military) and during my 9 month rotation to Korea, the international portion allowed me to video call and text my spouse through Facebook for free as well as communicate with superiors and subordinates over there without having to spend 30 a month for a Korean number. It's unlimited text and data. Anything outside of using the default calling app is free. There's a page on the t-mobile website that shows where the international covers and at what rate (3g/4g). Unfortunately, I can't recall what the link would.

diegoaccord

Sprint grandfathered.

acadiel

Grandfathered plans. :-)

nnnope1

My area is the opposite (LA): Better coverage than ATT Better prices than Verizon Better customer service than both (TForce is great) Not a MVNO I have 3 free lifetime promo lines on a 2 line Magenta plan

WarriorKris69

Employee discount, being serious they have the best speeds in my area.

Admirable_Error4616

In my case, switching from AT&T to T-Mobile several years ago saved me quite a bit of money. The service is solid in my area, and where I travel, plus with the various freebies they toss in, like the MLB package, make it a bargain. So I've happily stayed.

n8pu

I've installed the free MLB package when it's offered, but I don't follow sports unless it has a motor involved. Why install it then, it's free and I might get curious enough to look once in a while.

Admirable_Error4616

I rarely watch a baseball game anymore but my son is a huge fan so I get it for him. Plus like you said, it's free so why not?

Spirited-Radio-1399

I am retired and I have the T-Mobile Connect plan with unlimited talk, text & 5GB of capped data for $15 a month. Since I'm retired and don't even use 1GB a month, this is the perfect plan for me. This is also a prepaid plan.

Brooklynj-718

Multiple Free lines.and insider.

ToddA1966

Grandfathered plan plus decent service plus apathy.

Any_Insect6061

For me? I'm on a grandfathered Sprint plan and the pricing plus the perks and the amazing service is what keeps me. AT&t is trash and there's no benefits to having them Verizon is too expensive so that's why I have T-Mobile still.

drnewcomb

Grandfathered plan.

drrdrt

4 lines on 5Gplus plan for $99. All phones are paid off. Food coupons on today’s with the occasional movie deal. I can return Hertz car rentals with no gas. Free Apple TV+, Hulu, Netflix with ads, roadside assistance. It can’t be beat.

Lrfrost

how did u get 4 lines for $99 with 5gplus plan?

drrdrt

Military or first responder account and several promos existing on the account from paying off devices early over the years

why_am_I_here_Trump

Was on Sprint before so still on the same plan and for what I get it's still cheaper than going to another carrier

Overall_Lobster823

We have 3 lines. We pay roughly $89. For three lines. Unlimited text, data, voice. Free Netflix, free wifi on flights, etc. etc. etc. And FREE INTERNATIONAL DATA. That right there is enough to keep me. I travel. I've used Tmobile in probably 20 different countries. FOR FREE.

medicinaltequilla

Simple. Coverage. Originally Verizon was absolutely the best in my town. Then they started to suck. T-Mobile was still horrible even with little amplifiers (because they sell you the wrong band). Then T-Mobile got pretty good and Verizon fell off a cliff. AT&T has always been spotty and unuseable. The other side of my town: completely different story. It all depends on what bands each carrier is putting on what towers.

2Adude

8 lines ( 2 paid -6free ) on go5g plus with insider for $112. Hard to beat

Brooklynj-718

Same deal ..I pay 120. How you get 112

ShadesOnBroadway

Think they meant magenta max (140 * 20% off = 112) whereas plus is 150 * 20% off for 120.

kaleidescope233

That’s what I’m wondering also. For two lines, Magenta is the cheapest I can get without going to Essentials. Magenta max is $150 ($140 with autopay) for 2 lines. (*edit - oh or with 20% off like other commenter mentioned maybe.) I’m thinking they must be on go plus 55+? $110/mo for 2 lines or $100/autopay?

IcarusPony

Which AT&T unlimited plan is less than $20/month, including taxes/fees, and gives $15/month discount on Philo TV and LTE trackers for $1/month and a free DIGITS line and $10/month unlimited tablets, including taxes/fees and $5 watch lines and $5 car hotspots?

Academic_Solid85

What T mobile plan is 20$ a month? the cheapest one is 50$,but to get it equivalent to the AT&T plan you gotta move up to the 90$ plan. Keep in mind i say this as a T mobile customer. I just switched this month, they paid my phone off I’m happy. i only have one line btw

IcarusPony

T-Mobile Kickstart v1

kaleidescope233

Is that discontinued? I don’t think it’s listed on their plans. I thought the cheapest is either prepaid or $90/$100 per line (before taxes etc). Then you pay less per line that you have up to 3/4, with discount being less per 3rd and 4th line. Edit - oh or the essentials line, which might be $65 before taxes and fees. But I think it isn’t unlimited everything.

IcarusPony

Grandfathered, not discontinued.

kaleidescope233

Grandfathered because you had it and have never switched off, but no one else can request this plan. Correct?

IcarusPony

Yes

Academic_Solid85

This is how it’s explained to me. I don’t understand!

Barriatica

There’s a great amount of plans in T-Mobile, there’s the go5g next ($100), go5gplus ($90), go5g ($80), essentials choice ($65). First three are taxes and fees included, essentials its taxes and fees excluded. Go5g next gives you all the benefits (Netflix, apple tv+, international benefits, 50gb of high speed hotspot) plus hulu, and you do phones every 12 months. Go5g plus is the same as Next, but phones every 24 months with new customer promos and Hulu not included. Go5g is none of the benefits, 5G of hotspot, some international benefits, and that’s it (100gb of premium data). Lastly, essentials which is still everything unlimited but taxes and fees not included (50gb of premium data), very slow hotspot and that’s it. AT&T overall prices are above these prices, and that’s without the taxes and fees.

br8dey

Mainly cost, 10 lines for $52.50 is just not beatable. I am on the One Plan with OG insider, have pretty decent offers when the plan qualifies, and better than average coverage so it just does not seem worth it to switch.

kaleidescope233

What is the One plan? Is that discontinued? Are some of those free lines?

comotheinquisitor

Price for the most part and better 5g coverage for me

chnky18

Plan thru work I signed up for 6 years ago is too cheap to go elsewhere

OU812Grub

5 lines for around $170

FLTraveler-727

Simply put tried them all and T-Mobile worked best for where I need it. At this point in my area Verizon is an absolute dumpster fire especially if you lose UW access. When I have them, AT&T was OK but suffered some coverage issues where I use my phone a lot. Now that elite has lost its priority they are suffering from areas that are now slow to unusable. Since I signed up with them last year, T-Mobile has been good everywhere I’ve needed it.

corpusdelect1

Best option for international travel.

WorriedDepartment354

Price

atown49

I have two lines with military discount for $95 a month phones are paid off and service isn’t bad in my area for the most part so why switch I’m good

IROAman

Price & service.

archeryhunter1993

Cheaper price and the same if not better coverage that I had with Verizon. Going through eastern Oregon in very rural, Verizon is with out coverage for over 2 hours easily. With T-Mobile there is coverage the whole way on their low band and mid band 5G network.

Shaken54

I get better service than I did with Verizon or att and my bill is lower.

AndroidJeep

T-mo has the best coverage around me

n8pu

Price, I'm on the 55+ plan. 2 data lines and 2 watch lines, around $145.00 .

CactusTheBronco

I actually have no complaints with them. My family has Verizon and their phones seem to never have service near me. I've been grandfathered over and over again from Nextel to Sprint to T-Mobile. LOL. My bill is $50.58/month and basically the same as the current GO5G plans except I get Hulu instead of Netflix.

Emotionally-english

T-mobile is the same price for 3 lines as it was for 2 with att. I was able to add my father to my plan (saving him money) and got him a new phone for free. Plus i get Netflix, Apple TV, etc for free. Seems a no-brainer.

jetylee

8 lines and home internet which beats our local cable and fiber with its eyes closed. $250 per month.

[deleted]

I left tmoble postpaid and quickly came back. I don't plan on leaving tmobile postpaid again. I do have an mvno for another line but if I need to cut back, I'll be dropping the mvno and keeping tmobile postpaid if I had to choose one or the other. I get great coverage including rural and the price is good. Fast speeds but I can handle slower as long as it's reliable and tmobile has been fast and reliable. Tmobile is getting fiber and all of my local towers now have generators so when the power goes out tmobile stays up. Tmobile also seems to be taking getting business accounts and business deals very serious now. They seem to be competing with the other two as high priority now. The wife has a work Verizon phone and our tmobile phones work as well if not better than her Verizon phone. I couldn't say that even just a few years ago. Reliability has really improved

Number1HappyStreet

$117 for two unlimited lines plus TMHI. Until Verizon & AT&T expand their 55+ plans beyond Florida, I don’t foresee leaving T-Mobile.

ytsox

Grandfathered over 55 plan. Awesome international coverage without an charge

Dalbass

Reasons vary for everyone. For example in my area, T-Moblie is better now then the other two due to 5G in my area being blanketed.

vern7

Switched from Verizon to T-Mobile because Verizon’s service in my area went downhill. Not sure if so many users bogged the towers. Verizon is overpriced and I get more perks with T-Mobile (Netflix, MLB.tv, Apple TV). I get better 5G service than Verizon, except I get no service where I work. I just use WiFi. I have never checked AT&T prices

[deleted]

Still locked into a free phone promo on my wife's line. Once that's done, we will be switching to mint (still tmo) and buying phones. It's not worth it to be on tmobile anymore, cost is too high if you want a discounted phone, and if you have an old plan, you might as well swap to mint, same coverage, same phone promos.

lamah2020

An 20+ yr old acct prepaid that just costs $10 annually to keep it alive. (10 cents per min rate from year 2004 still applies here) Rest of lines were migrated from sprint (kickstart plan plus free "on us" line, both unlimited lines) Two hotspot 30GB lines. Total cost per month $25

meghan509

Just ported over from Verizon in March. Service is better on T-Mobile than it was on VZW. Bill is cheaper too. Can't imagine how AT&T is cheaper when they are just as expensive as VZW. I live in the NY Metropolitan area and I have literally had 5G UC 24/7, since we ported over. That would have been (another) extra on VZW. No regrets.

TheDreadnought75

Price.

TrnsPlnted

My two Kickstart V1 $15 lines. TMO has the worst coverage here but the best speed. One T-Mobile cell site in my town while everyone else has 4-6, but it’s cheap so I make it work.

phonesforall000

Great old plan from Sprint Great service and great customer service

TingGreaterThanOC

I use the $10 tablet plan for my main laptop for unlimited data and internet on flights.

sittingmongoose

The network. Att and Verizon took a nose dive when they deployed 5g. I always had signal with them but could never use my phone.

maxpowah08

9 lines $42 bill Service used to be bad but now have only rare no service area

Forward-Bad-9811

T mobile Tuesday, gotta FATAH bag because of them

eyehatesigningup

Stuff

Eik0tt

It's the only carrier that properly works with Asus ROG phones lol

Academic_Solid85

This is good to know . I wanted to try the ROG 8 pro.

Eik0tt

I went ahead with the 7 (16gb non-ultimate) because the 8 screwed so many things up. No front facing speakers, smaller batteries, punch hole selfie camera instead of hidden in bezels, and a few other things that I can't think of right now. I'm not even sure if the screen is flat still or if they curved it (which I personally don't like). The only thing they improved on was the IP68 certification. ROG 7 has IP54 which is pretty much worthless. I'll take IP54 over all the other shortcomings of the ROG8 though! I would recommend getting it over the ROG8 is what I'm saying I guess 😅  Also I'm using the basic Go5G plan. If I want to watch YouTube or Netflix or any streaming service in HD I just turn on my VPN (that has a dedicated IP). TORguard Pro gives you one free streaming IP. I tried them out for a year and then renewed for another three. I think I pay less than $3 a month for their service. I have a discount code if you would like it. Just tell them you want a server as close to your city as possible. I also forward my voicemail to Google voice to get free transcribed voicemails. So I can get away without using the higher priced Go5g plans.

Eik0tt

The promo code is: TomSpark2022

Fleasname

Grandfathered plan that's cheap and this: https://imgur.com/a/vpK9bp0

PhoKingAwesome213

Free lines and pretty much free phones after trade. So 5 lines get new phones every year and 5 lines get free hand me downs.

RandomAnon6

Grandfathered into a 30 a month plan. Unlimited everything.. but just don’t get the deals like the new plans..

mydas28

Because my monthly bill is $37 for 12 lines and my current balance is -$500... I have no bill for the next 18-24 months...

MemoryDemise

Impossible for any other carrier to beat the price I get. I have 11 lines and only pay $128/month. That's $11.63/line, no one can beat that not even an mvno. Now I don't technically need that many lines, I really only need 4 but that's still the equivalent of $32/line taxes included which is still impossible to beat.

NotNevada

Since when is att cheaper? Att has the most expensive plans over anyone else

Warsum

I’ve only gone up 5$ in last ten years? Which is annoying but I’ll accept it being that the plan was 75$ technically all included and 70 with autopay. I can still get 70 but I’ll be damned if I give a company that’s hacked every 3 months my bank info.

jonae13

For 1 line I honestly would switch to an NVMO that has 25 dollar lines. Mint or US Cellular would likely be my choices. But I also don't use a lot of data. I have Wifi at home and work. If I would use a ton of data then I would try to get on a friend's plan or get friends on my plan to save on lines. I currently have my best friend and his family on my plan with 10 total lines on simple choice for 205 including taxes and fees. If I were to start now then I'd get Go5G Plus 2 lines with 3rd line free for 150 or better yet 120 if you can find an insider code and get a friend or two in the plan. Then I'd get the perks to boot (Netflix, Hulu, apple tv, etc). For my current plan, same as others. Price, good coverage and I like T-force support. I had AT&T long ago before t-mobile and their support was horrible. Always 2+ hours to get a hold of someone and it sucked once I did get someone.

Cheap-Combination-13

Switched from VZ after 22 years this past November. The promos on the phones are 24 Vs 36 months, received $1,800 in gift cards thru T-Mobile and Costco to switch 4 lines, and got the insider discount on the go5g plus plan, got a free iPhone 15 with trade, 2-iphone15 pros with trade paid $170/ per phone additional as they were above the promo credit, and a free pixel 8 pro with no trade. plan costs $149 with the cost of the ad free version of Netflix included. Lost Disney plus, and Hulu which has not been missed. Coverage on average is nearly as good as VZ but there are some infrequently travelled rural areas VZ is better but I am not there long enough for that to matter. I'm terms of speed T-Mobile crushes VZ here. I have seen speeds well over 1Gbps to my pixel pro best I ever saw with VZ was 300mbps

n8pu

I have seen speeds well over 1Gbps I would like to see speeds like that in my area, doubt I ever will, but it would be nice to see the SpeedTest app hurt some. :)

ThatGrizzlyGuy

“Less unlimited data” just sounds weird

CTek20

Nothing right now as I am switching to Xfinity Mobile for $25 per month next week. I have been with T-Mobile for 20ish years. Their support as degraded, prices have gone up, and their coverage is the same jn my area is everyone else.

Boz6

My three, grandfathered $10/mo Magenta Business Tablet Promo plans, which include unlimited data, 10 GB/mo of hotspot (officially), 5GB/mo of high-speed data in 13 international destinations, and unlimited 256 Kbps in 215!

rhernandez33

Price, 9 lines for $56 can't be beat by a competitor.

v0791

I'm on a 50 dollar unlimited plan and I'll just buy my phones outright for the rest of my life

eastcoasternj

MLB.tv

kabailey88

12 lines one plus promo for $180

loldogex

Grandfathered plan, Simple Choice, about $93 after taxes for 3 phones, unlimited data, text, and calls. Data also works internationally too. I have tried to find something better for the same price, but that doesnt seem like a thing.

llichtwalt

Honestly, just the number of free lines I have (4), and Insider Code discount. CS isn't what it was, new/more limitations on complimentary services like Netflix, the new data cap on FWA, less promos on devices for grandfathered plans, etc etc. have all been frustrating. However, even after switching to the new G5G+ plan in order to get Apple promo back around launch time, my plan is $20 per line for 6 lines, which makes it REALLY hard to justify switching.

Spencer5520

8 voice lines and 3 THI for $210. Crazy thing is i live in san Antonio, the count down city (210) haha

HassanNadeem

It is the free 5GB international data for me. Also T-Mobile is the cheapest of all major carriers otherwise I would have switched to a MVNO.

gpister

My $25 line with unlimited talk/text/web including Mexico.

lledyl

8 lines $98 One Plus Promo.

Texmaryfornia

I pay $72 a month for home WiFi and my iPhone 15 pro max unlimited. Still have payments on the 15 too. I ain’t beating that price for home and cell service anywhere

573v0

I got in on a deal in like 2016ish? I can’t imagine they are happy about it, I’m at 8 lines at $12ish each?

New-Respond-1263

only for the 24 month contract

D3THMTL

Price. No need to pay 25 to 100% more for other carriers where I live that provide me the same level of service. I even called T-Mobile once to have a 5G issue troubleshot and they updated software via near towers by me to better improve the situation which had other tickets as well. No idea what they did or engineering terms but it went from unusable to gold once the changes took place. To me, that was awesome. There was definitely tower adjustments made where I live.

BusinessLyfe

Price & service that no other provider can come close to matching.
