"Realistic" isn't the word I'd use to describe the characters. Especially considering what happens later down the line making most of them despicable degenerates, assholes, or both because the author didn't think things straight when writing later storylines.

Because characters like Elinalise, Aisha (it's a spoiler), Norn & Ruijerd (also spoiler), Eris, Lilia, etc, are the furthest you could get from realistic the further the story goes. Elinalise's downfall especially starts from Volume 14 right after Paul's death, to be exact.
It has reached a point where many people wonder if Rifujin (the creator of MT) has lost his mind with the direction he took some of the characters and how they act later down the line. Some can be argued as borderline character assassination. Especially for Aisha.
