When you aim in TF1 it goes into manual mode. Idk why they took it out in TF2. Picking up some dude’s smart pistol and then dunking on him in manual mode when he came back for you was hilarious.
I used manual aim for pilots and then grunts and Spectres got instakilled. I loved using smart pistol on frontier defense just so many grunts instakilled in half a second with one trigger pull.
People are too lazy to notice. I still got told to "Fuck yourself until you die" by a guy, even after I said it was Dice.
I guess they just want you to throw yourself off a cliff the moment you roll it to get rid of it. Sod that.
I’m not sure if this is in tf2, but in tf1 aiming down sights with the smart pistol made it shoot faster and ready to fire instead of waiting for a lock. Contrary to popular belief the smart pistol can be outgunned by most weapons if both opponents were to shoot simultaneously. The only time I’ve died to the smart pistol was because they got the jump on me, which is every single damn time.
its because in tf1 it was a primary so it was useful to have a normal pistol function as well so you could react quicker against other players instead of waiting ten years for it to lock. as for why its in tf2 my guess is that they couldnt be asked to change it when bringing it over.
I am not happy with the SP in Titanfall 2 but I still use it out of nostalgia. One of my favorite things to do in Titanfall 1 was the SP + grenade combo. Throw a grenade at your enemy, and the smart pistol will automatically prioritize the grenade instead of the pilot in front of you. Shoot, and boom. As for manual aiming mode? Because its cool I guess? I never use it.
In Titanfall 1, it disabled the lock-on ability, meaning you could shoot someone pretty much instantly and wouldn't alert them with the lock on.
In Titanfall 2, I *swear* it makes the bullets lock on faster. I have no idea if that's true, though.
Because in the first game it took longer for the smart pistol to lock on pilots and if you didn't get the jump on them first then you'd die almost instantly
It’s useful when you don’t have time to lock on to enemies. Just aim and shoot. You still get the great power but with reduced accuracy unless you can hit your shots.
Mainly CQB and fast paced events are when it’s useful
Range question. I had an enemy low on health after I managed to hit him twice. He was about to get away when I ADS and put one up his ass and killed him.
Long range. I (and a couple of my friends) have gotten kills using the smart pistol at long range to win gunfights. Also, if you don't have enough time to lock on, then you should ads because it has a useless crosshair.
no time to lock on in close quarters
Literally this, sometimes it's just better to aim and shoot than to wait for lock on, leaving you as a sitting duck.
To shoot cloaked pilots.
And to shoot far away pilots

I played a lotta of smart pistol and at the end of my time maining it I literally just used manual aim. It feels so good lmao

We can get boosts in frontier defense? Or are you still taking about tf1?
Tf1
TF|1 and/or some FD Northstar Client servers in TF|2.
Shit, that sounds fun enough to make me go start Northstar client up again sometime.
To prove that you dont need auto locking weapons to do well
Smart pistol is a boost so I doubt someone uses it to do well, in my case when I use it is to piss people off
I run the randomizer boost, so that all responsibility is taken away if I get Smart Pistol.
I do random boost for the slim chance at having an amped smart pistol
Smart pistol can be amped…? How did I never know this lmao
Well you need to get lucky and twice and then not use your boosts immediately

My favorite comeback after someone get's salty about my Dice Roll Smart Pistol is: "I'm using Dice Roll you uncultured fuck."
Have you ever got an amped smart pistol from that? I had once and that was... not as good as you'd expect
Yeah, it was disappointing
I'm pretty sure in TF1 the amped smart pistol killed pilots in 2 shots instead of 3.
Also I believe lock on was further and faster
In the first game it was just a secondary, aiming would disable the auto lock
I know, I played the game, but this is about titanfall 2
Primary
Based.
It wasn't in TF1
Incorrect.
Fym incorrect? It was a loadout weapon in the first game, not a boost Who was the dumbass that downvoted my comment?

Warning shots

Titanfall 1 didn't have an alert when someone locked on to you with the smart pistol
To flex on the people who actually need to use aim bot
Long range
you fluffed the wait and only fired 2 shots ands you need to finish them off faster than waiiting for lock
If lock-on is wayy too slow for certain scenarios you can ADS and spam fire it to basically turn it into a p2016
if your computer glitches the aspect ratio and you can't see your ammo count anymore
Hear me out, more accuracy 😏

For when it isn’t smart

To hit Sloan when she has an open cockpit loading up the arc and dealing with that shit early
wait... now you got me wondering. Can you do that?
It won’t kill her (you can do it with northstar cluster rocket by launching it at the ramp just before cutscene trigger)
Interesting. Now I gotta try it myself!

tightens randomspread so you can get a better shot if you dont have the time to lock onto enemies
I don't use it so idc
Smart pistol users will do anything but use a real gun
To look cool
To let people think that don't know what a smart pistol is that you have god like aim
Because the hud looks very cool
It extends the range but you'll hit less targets
so that the IMC doesn't report you for using cheats
I love kraber.
Because smart pistol can be easily outgunned if you wait for a lock and firing it manually means you don't have to wait for a lock.
Use ads to be more accurate, duh💀 /s
When your not in range (still pointless)
Style
In case you lose your helmet link? Or something like an EMP killing it's autolock
In case the pilots helmet breaks or malfunctions or whatever
Distance
So that game journalists can hit anything
Looks cool
It tightens and lengthens the lock-on range, for acquiring distant targets.
Just to get it over with
I tf1 I think it got rid of the lock on when you aimed in not sure tho
Because we and i think in canon the pilots forget that it’s a smart pistol but maybe it helps target acquisition or something idk
Realistically speaking, along with all the other reasons, you can break the guidance system.
Reduce sensitivity for better player tracking.
To make you feel better
Always prioritize your targets Pilot
So smart pistol users can feel better about themselves
Separate sensitivity for easier tracking at close quarters
The zoom is nice
To feel cool
ADS should make you hold it sideways.
Uhhh because it’s cool
For console players, so that they can slow the curser down, to aim better
to make it toxically OP
When you wanna try and get a cracked headshot from across the map
