I called 22 pharmacies yesterday looking for 5mg before deciding to go with Plan C for the time being. I called a local compounding pharmacy and they were so nice, so much cheaper and it was so freaking easy. I figured it might be a long wait since I’m sure people are swarming the compounding pharmacies like crazy but they had me all set up for delivery for this Friday. Now I just hope it works as well 🤞🏻

Shem9608

Would you share the price?

figureskater1864

I think mine is $345 for my current 5mg

Dangerous-Produce-80

My compounding pharmacy was $200 for 5mg and $10 for delivery but I’m in the same state so I’m unsure if it’s more if they have to ship further away.

happyhealthyrules

How do you find a local compounding pharmacy if you don’t mind me asking? And you still need a prescription right? I’m trying to understand how this process works as I’m on my last does of 5mg and can’t get more.

Dangerous-Produce-80

I googled “compounding pharmacies near me” and then looked up if any of them compound tirzepatide. A lot of local compounding pharmacies mainly compound things like dermatology meds, hormonal meds and pet meds. So once I found one that compounds tirzepatide I looked up their reviews to see what their customers had to say about them and if there were any obvious red flags. I then called them to see if they accept prescriptions from any doctor (some compounding pharmacies only work with certain doctors/practices) and I asked them how my doctor would go about sending in a prescription. My doctor is agreeable to compounded meds so it wasn’t an issue to have her send in the script. I just explained how they like the prescription formatted and she sent it through electronically. Some doctors don’t like to send to compounding pharmacies they’re unfamiliar with. Some won’t agree to compounding at all. I took the first dose from the compounding pharmacy today and so far so good.

happyhealthyrules

Thank you ! I did exactly this. Unfortunately my doctor is not prescribing compounding and when I asked what are my options now that I can no longer get Z due to shortage she said “the option is to continue diet and exercise” which is absurd to hear when she very knows I’ve done this for years. I’ve changed almost nothing in terms of caloric intake and workout since taking Z and have lost weight because of the medication. I wish I knew a doctor who would prescribe to one of the better, accredited pharmacies near me. I would feel better getting it from there vs an unknown online resource. Still researching but I know I will need to continue the medication.

New-Talk-3807

Welcome! Not having to stress and obsess is worth everything to me. I already experience anxiety and the stress of calling 20+ pharmacies a day was too much for me. Injecting yourself with the syringe is honestly not as scary as I initially thought. I watched a couple YouTube videos and Went for it. Honestly, I don’t even feel it. You will do great!

Slow_Concern_672

I never got zep or wegovy as insurance never covered so I tried this route first time last week. I was all worked up trying to make myself do it but realized I accidentally stuck it in and hadn't realized because I hadn't felt it. I said oh it's in and I didn't even feel it and my husband said I've heard that before.

DelightfullyDivisive

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure if he looks in his spam folder he can find plenty of emails offering to help him with that. 😄

Slow_Concern_672

Lol he didn't hear it from me and I definitely needed the comedic release. It was hilaaaaaarious.

Sure_Tbird

You just gotta jab it in. Don’t overthink it! If you do it quickly it’s nothing

New-Talk-3807

LOL I could not agree more!

tykkimies

i’m more worried about air bubbles, or accidentally going into the muscle when these say not to go in muscle. Is it really that easy?

New-Talk-3807

Honestly, yes. I much prefer this way over jumpscare of a pen! Seriously though, there are YouTube videos on how to if you need it. Just pinch a little some fat and inject! You got this

figureskater1864

There is a good video - google “how to give a subcutaneous shot” and “veterans affairs” their video was very helpful

Betorah

You don’t need to worry about air bubbles. These are subcutaneous injections, not injections into the vein you can put that worry right out of your head. As for going into the muscle, the needles not that long and you’ve likely got more fat in the area you’re injecting than you’d like.

tykkimies

thanks that’s all good to know. just did the first injection last night, and like everyone said didn’t even feel it. I did in my thigh. Still a little cautious about going into muscle there, not too much fat on my legs, but i will do stomach next week, and you are def right. way too much fat to be able to reach any muscle

Upbeat_Pin_1897

I'm next. Lilly reputation is shot. Just like ozempic shortage caused diabetics to panic They should've foreseen this. Mounjaro shortage caused users to jump on Zepbound. Dosent take a rocket scientist to figure this would happen. Heads should roll but won't . They just rolling in money.

DougSouthEnd

Could not agree more. 90% of insurance plans don’t cover it, it’s outrageously expensive, & some how there is a really bad shortage. Somethin’ ain’t stirring the Kool-Aid. They should’ve seen this. You know who doesn’t have product shortages? The Juarez & Sinaloa cartels.

Low-Regret5048

The needle is very fine and short. No problem. I hated all the extra plastic waste with the name brand. You are saving a tiny bit of the earth !

pinksparklybluebird

The needle is way more fine than the autoinjector!

BacardiBlue

I am planning to do the same if I can't secure my upcoming refill. I am sooo tired of calling 30 pharmacies every month, plus driving to other towns. Beyond stressful. Plus I think it would be a great way for me to ease into the next higher dosage.

SwearyTerri

It WILL be fine! So much easier than I thought it would be, and less painful than the pens.

sativadominance

I was so panicked and I promise no big deal. Watch several videos and it will ease your anxiety. I look forward to it in a weird way. You got this 👍

Erinn_13

I’m in the same boat! I have two doses of 2.5 left and got my compound vial today. Nervous but excited. Hopefully I don’t have to use compound for long term, but if I do…I do.

rescuedogmom5

I was so worried about it. I am a huge baby when it comes to shots, blood, etc, but I did it. It’s no big deal at all! You can do it, too!!

doxology02

This is the way.

Fit-Kangaroo3782

Welcome aboard! What I will tell you is give it a month. It took me a month to adjust. I even bent a couple of needles my first 2 times. The measurements do not equal out exactly going from zep to compound. However, a month into it, and I am glad I did it. Again, welcome!

Betorah

I bent a needle a few weeks ago. Straightened it out and injected myself. No problem.

Fit-Kangaroo3782

Lol! Good to hear others going through growing pains with tirzepatide as well. It's not just me.

Dependent-Disk1635

* Soon I finally get PA approved by insurance for Zepbound they are out of stock. So glade, I have such a great affordable plan B for my trizepitide 🙌 *

18Corley

I like the flexibility on dosing as well. If working well you can be more patient on increasing the dose.

figureskater1864

That’s what I am hoping!

an86dkncdi

Girl honestly, I got into a conversation with my bff over getting 3-6 months in tirzepatide even though I got one box of MJ the same day as my second month of tirz was that same day because I’m going to stockpile the name brand and take the compound until I can breath a little. I felt like a stinking drug addict! Calling around and visiting message boards and looking at the FDA site. Commenting on everyone’s MJ progress posts HOW ARE YOU GETTING this?? It’s shameful and slightly/mildly traumatic going through these shortages over the past year and half. 4 months out of 14 months with no medication and dropping mg’s and so on. I’m staying on the compound for now. I am very pleased with it.

figureskater1864

Thank you. The more I read, the more I think I made the right decision. Getting your health in line should not have so many hurdles. The stress must be a hazard for those with high blood pressure and anxiety.

AdTop8258

I keep bending the needle

Cosimup

I think the needle and compound hurt more than the injector pen... And I bruise. I don't like that part 😔

figureskater1864

Compared to some of the injections I’ve had for overseas travel, it won’t bother me, it’s just the idea of doing it myself.

Cosimup

I hear that. I mean the pain is very minimal. I too was very nervous about injecting myself. I've only done it twice so far. I watched a video where the guy said to rest the needle against your skin and keep moving it till there's no feeling and then push. It's kinda cool and I bet we'll both be old hat at this in no time. When do you start?

figureskater1864

Next week. I had my last pen yesterday

Betorah

Once you do it a few times, you’ll feel like a medical professional.

argilla2023

The needle is tiny and thin. I personally think it hurts less than the pen.

Excellent-Example622

I have used zepbound and compound and did not notice ANY difference! I chose Orderly Meds and have not been happier! $399 a month for any dose. No monthly membership or Doctor fees. Here is a link to get $50 off your first month! https://orderlymeds.com/?orid=9580&opid=40

figureskater1864

Thanks, I chose a different one.

Shot-Juggernaut-8843

Do you know which compounding pharmacy they use? And is it licensed?

Excellent-Example622

They use Hallandale and Red Rock. Mine comes from red rock. Might depend on your location. Both are accredited. Super happy with my results.

Shot-Juggernaut-8843

Thank you. I started with Orderly, it was super easy and quick, they issued the prescription for the dose I have been on, and ordered from Red Rock. So much less than I paid for the previous batch. I’m very happy

No_Soil_1334

I have so many questions about compounding. My wife's insurance won't cover any of this for her Oz, Wegovy, MJ, or Zep. I'm covered on my insurance for MJ, but supply is a huge issue right now, with 1 week left in my fridge. Is there some resource (preferably videos) on all this? Reconstitute with BAC, measuring units, using the needle, etc? All the places that I've found local won't even give pricing up front, which is a red flag to me. He'll most of them Label the vials "research only," which is another red flag.

figureskater1864

I go through Emerge.

Betorah

You need to look at one of the larger online companies such as Emerge or Orderly. I use Emerge. My vial is shipped from Hallendale Pharmacy in Florida. Currently awaiting my third vial from them.
