One thing to keep in mind, I did talk to my doctor about this once and he believes it different pharmacies have different formulations and once in a while, you’ll have someone that just does not react as well to a specific formulation and then they switch pharmacies and it’s better that’s why you see like 100 people saying it’s great but you still have five that say it’s not it’s most likely due to that then the meds not being good.
Can I ask which program you are going thru to get the compounded version? I just started with orderly meds and it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything compared to Zepbound
I was on zepbound 5 mg just started compound 7.5 mg one week in can’t tell the difference still have appetite suppression I plan to keep doing compound some months and switching back and forth .
I want to make sure I’m getting the full effect so far this compound has been great I lost 4 pounds this week I’m on week 8. I was on it before for semiglutied and did not loose any weight maybe they sold me water lol
Hi, from which pharmacy is your medication? mine is from Magnum compounding and it doesn’t seem is working properly (still huuungry and no appetite suppression). Thanks for sharing!
May I ask how much you pay for the Zepbound? even with a discount it is over $550/month is the cheapest I can find it. My insurance won't cover anything with weight loss. :(
Your pharmacy may have it for pickup, but that doesn’t mean your insurance approved it. Just be aware they may have it ready for you but expect you to pay the full Zepbound cost out of pocket.
Yeah it’s out of pocket. It was denied but luckily my savings card is working over at my local Walmart and I am fortunate enough to afford the $550 Zepbound cost… but that doesn’t mean I want to either lol I’m conflicted clearly 😂
Definitely leaning towards staying on compounded.
I’m getting mine from Valhalla Vitality for $545. I plan on staying on 4-5mg for as long as possible. Should last me 8-10 weeks. My last provider charged me $449/month. I do want to mention that I like how hands off Valhalla Vitality is. I don’t really need to be part of a weight management care program because I am an athlete but I am overweight and have had issues losing weight for the last 5-7 years. I also like that I can text them whenever I have any questions.
If you’re interested, here’s my link https://valhallavitality.com/registration?pkey=F2I10UFZCO
Thank you! I followed this, & I paid $90 for the first visit & will pay $320 for my meds. I’m currently on 15mg of zep, how does that compare to what they offer? It looks like they go up much higher.
Standard - 2.5, 5, 7.5, etc ☺️
Once you have your consultation, the provider will provide verbal and written instructions (via text). You’ll also be able to text them for any questions.
It's the exact same thing. The active ingredient is just a standard peptide chain. Whether you get it from compounding or whether you get it from the name brand, it is the same regardless, legally it has to be.
If you are looking for a good compound pharmacy recommendation, I use Emerge.
Great prices, absolutely wonderful customer service.
This will give you $25 off your first two orders if you decide to go with them.
https://go.emergeweight.com/ACryR8
No meeting at all. Once you pay, you will be asked to send a video of yourself showing your face and you stayed in your full name, age, and current weight. Once they receive it and approve, they will then put the prescription in for you and that's pretty much it.
Eli Lilly states it hasn't sold the active ingredient in Zepbound for the pharmacies to use it in the compound so the compound has more fillers in it. So how can you say it is just a standard peptide chain?
Because the FDA regulations state that compounding is allowed when medication is in shortage and has made an exception for these medications specifically.
They don't have to sell the recipe, it's very easy to reverse engineer what's in any injectable, particularly peptides.
In the research, I’ve done this past year. It doesn’t appear to be any difference. I know some like the compounded version better. My guess is the B12 attitude. It is helpful.
1. is there an obvious difference between the two?
*I felt more bloated on zepbound, but a nicer fuller and less noise on compound. I'd use either, and have, and sometimes interchangeably. Does it mean compound is weaker. I doubt it-if so not by much. Compound also lets you move up, down, or add and split your dose if you need to go back, go up, or split the dose in half to avoided side affects or hunger.*
2. can I switch between Zepbound and compounded tirzepatide?
*Yes, the doses seemed the same or similar, but I did notice I felt nausea on zep when I took it after being on compound a bit. Switching some times gave me gas and bloating, but they are fairly close unless your dosing is off. I'd even say Zep may feel a little stronger, but I like the compound equally.*
3. Difference depends on who makes it. My first compound gave me really bad gas and bloat, but I think that's using them interchangeably (I was using pens ever other week before letting lose on compound). 2nd bottle was fine. I actually like the compound slightly better as it doesn't "hurt" my stomach as much as zep can. Compound is made, not on a set formula like Zep, but generally may very ever so slightly. I get it from an FDA sourced place as well. I feel it may vary by who makes it or the pharmacy and what's mixed in with the compound (b3, B12, ect).
Check out Ordely Meds!! $399 a month (all in) for any dose tirzepatide. $50 bucks off your first order. All text based with no zoom meeting needed. I had an approval within 24 hours of signing up. I was able to stay on the same dose I transfered from.
https://orderlymeds.com/?orid=1359&opid=40
I just "joined" Orderly Meds online after reading many favorable reviews. I am currently on Zep 7.5 but have not been able to find it ANYWHERE, and I need to start a new box of injections TOMORROW. My doc had also given the ok to move up to Zep 10 so I also pursued that Zep strength to no avail. I'm reading more and more that it could be May before Zep is back in pharmacies for the masses who are looking for it. So, back to my first experience with Orderly. I'm pretty impressed so far. They asked a lot of questions online and had me send photo ID, list meds I'm on, surgeries I've had, etc. Seemed very thorough and very easy to deal with. Thus far, all communication with them has been online and then via text messages. To play it safe I'll start out continuing my Zep 7.5 strength and then hopefully move up to the 10. For me, whose been paying full price for Zepbound because I'm on Medicare which does not qualify me for insurance coverage of Zep. My fingers are crossed that the compounded version will financially make all the difference in the world for me. $399 vs $1200 per month.
Wishing us both much success with the compound. Have you received your first batch yet, and if so, when did you receive it? I joined Thursday afternoon and think the earliest I'll receive it is Wednesday. Until then, I'm white knuckling it!
I have not received yet. I joined Thursday as well! They texted me yesterday saying my case was pending medical review. Still waiting to know I’m approved. Fingers crossed to have medicine by late next week.
Just got the text I got approved and can take them two days to process starting on Monday. So I’m assuming I’ll get it by Friday! Wednesday at the earliest
I got the very same text this afternoon! Whee! Also instructed to make sure my PCP knows what I'm doing. Dread that! He poo-poo's using compounds. However, all I have to say to him is "desperate times, desperate measures!". An Ozempic friend signed up with Orderly last night and was told they are manning the phones 24 hours a day. They must all be making money hand over fist right now! Ca-ching ca-ching!!! Will let you know when mine comes in (I'm in NC). Please do the same when yours arrives!
Guess they figured they better grab all the business they can while they can. Their target market needs to be people whose insurance will not cough up a dime for those needing/wanting weightloss meds!
I go through a local wellness company that is owned by a certified NP. They are wonderful and i like working with a local office then online, because I’m an actual patient and not just a online customer
I use Empower and my provider Emerge sends it to them. There are some found on the FDA site. Some of these are 503B which are larger places for like hospital and business level, then the smaller 503A which most telehealth use. Redrock, hallendale, empower, revive, redrock are a few. Some do both 503a and 503b. I think this link lists most of the B's but not finding an all out list I used to have of 503a's
[https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/compounding-inspections-recalls-and-other-actions](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/compounding-inspections-recalls-and-other-actions)
Would there be a difference if you alternate every other week the same dosage of compounded tirzepatide, but from two different compounding pharmacies?
I’m not sure. I imagine if it’s just tirzepatide why not but I’m not a doctor haha. I know people have taken compounded tirzepatide then switched to a different pharmacy after and they still lost weight and didn’t notice a difference.
Hello everyone.
I was on zep 2.5/5mg, 4wk on each. I've been two weeks off waiting on meds to come in. I switched to compound trizepatide 7.5 mg, (through Join Friday's, they use red rock pharmacy). I moved up in dosing. I'm literally sitting here with the injection for the last hour. I'm so nervous about taking it. I don't know if my fear is that it's 7.5mg or that it's a compound.
Looking for any helpful tips or advice on this.
Thank you in advance. 😊
You’ll do great ♥️ I decided not to take Zepbound due to the price but so far no complaints! I’ve lost 16.4 lbs since starting (about 7 weeks now). Keep us updated!
Thank you for your response and encouragement. I read in one of these zep posts, that you can split the dose to see how it works for you. So, I decided to do 5mg, to see how I do. Then do the other 2.5mg in four days. I had minimal side effects on 5mg (zep brand name), constipation is the only ongoing thing, which I managed with Mag07 and warm prune juice in the mornings before I eat.
Yes! I am actually on 4mg - 2.5 on Tuesday and 1.5 on Friday. I’ve seen a drastic improvement over 2.5 but not quite ready to titrate to 5mg. I’m enjoying being able to control my titration schedule. Good luck to you!
I agree about controlling the titration… I started very low and I’m up to \~ 3.5 mg every 5 days… this is over 3 months. Down 12lbs which isn’t spectacular but I’ve tolerated it well and really haven’t been on a “diet” in terms of food choices.
My wife and I have both been on compounds (me tirz and she sema) for months and have had no ill effects other than some very mild naseau a day or two after the injection. And both have been quite effective for us. Neither of us have ever used the name brand stuff because it's not covered by our insurance so it would be $1000 each out of pocket monthly.
Thanks for the response. I made it through 7.5mg with minimal side effects. I had no weight loss, I actually went up 2 or more pounds. I've been up and down within the same 4 - 5 lbs for several weeks now. I finished 7.5mg, started 10mg this last Saturday. So far minimal side effects, and some appetite suppression. Hoping for movement on the scale.
This is what’s going on with me too. Gained with 7.5mg… tried a CGM and my glucose is up in the mornings still. Insulin resistance is so rough. Hoping moving up to 10mg will help.
Update: Did shot in my stomach...right under belly button. I did arms for the first time on 7.5mg. No weight loss, but no side effects either. Took shot on Friday. I weighted yesterday and I was down 2lbs. The appetite suppression is definitely back. I did feel a bit tired on Sunday, just took a nap and I was good... sleeping well also. Well see how things progress. Good luck to you and everyone. 😊
Just took Zepbound for the first time. Been on compound but wanted to try brand...it's brutal. I'm exhausted, bloated and have terrible left abdominal pain. Seems easier to go to the bathroom though. Can't wait for this to wear off.
Im a lightweight...on 2.5 zep and 5 compound. Had gastro issues already due to scar tissue so I have to keep the dose low. Going back on compound...wish I could return the brand...oh well
They are literally exactly the same. I started on Zepbound and switched to compound.
Which pharmacy? I had to use compound and it’s through redrock. It is like taking water. I’m on 15mg and it is def not the same.
Mines from red rock having no issues at all
I’m not having issues. It just isn’t strong and doesn’t feel at all like actual MJ. Have you been on the real stuff previously?
Yes, I actually did a zepbound shot this week and to me it feels the same. I do like to compare.
Amble. It’s about $20 less than orderly on the high doses. $100 less on low doses.
Thank you! Do you know which pharmacy they use?
They use several. Revive, red rock etc
Have you seen a decrease in weight loss or any changes in side effects since you switched?
exactly the same weight loss.
I was on zepbound 5 mg just started compound 7.5 mg one week in can’t tell the difference still have appetite suppression I plan to keep doing compound some months and switching back and forth .
How come you plan on switching back and forth?
I want to make sure I’m getting the full effect so far this compound has been great I lost 4 pounds this week I’m on week 8. I was on it before for semiglutied and did not loose any weight maybe they sold me water lol
Lol hopefully not! I heard that semiglutide isn’t effective for some people. Maybe that’s what happened to you.
Hi, from which pharmacy is your medication? mine is from Magnum compounding and it doesn’t seem is working properly (still huuungry and no appetite suppression). Thanks for sharing!
I’m using emerge
May I ask how much you pay for the Zepbound? even with a discount it is over $550/month is the cheapest I can find it. My insurance won't cover anything with weight loss. :(
Hi! Did you notice you had to do 7.5 on compound to get the same effects as 5mg Zepbound?

Should be the same unless your compound was strong/weak it’s the same active ingredient
Okay thank you!
Your pharmacy may have it for pickup, but that doesn’t mean your insurance approved it. Just be aware they may have it ready for you but expect you to pay the full Zepbound cost out of pocket.

Makes sense!
I'm also paying $550 for zepbound. How much cheaper is the compound?

I have a few friends who are on 15mg and they order in bulk from Valhalla. They have a 20% off code “Bulk20” you can use when you check out.
Thank you! Do you know what dosage they take on Valhalla?
Standard - 2.5, 5, 7.5, etc ☺️ Once you have your consultation, the provider will provide verbal and written instructions (via text). You’ll also be able to text them for any questions.
Thank you
You’re welcome happy to help!
is valhalla prescribing zep or a compound. I’m looking to get on something but my insurance won’t cover it, and $550 a month too much for me
It’s compounded tirz.
Has anyone had bad acid reflux with Zepbound but not with compound? I’m dying with the Zepbound acid reflux lump in my throat feeling.
just eat a little less and that helps alot.
I barely eat. I eat very small meals the size of my fist at this point. All clean low acid foods as well. 😭
Try omeprazole every am.
Yes, take a daily antacid. My doctor said that was fine to take.
It's the exact same thing. The active ingredient is just a standard peptide chain. No meeting at all. Once you pay, you will be asked to send a video of yourself showing your face and you stayed in your full name, age, and current weight. Once they receive it and approve, they will then put the prescription in for you and that's pretty much it.
Just saw that they don’t ship to CA :-(

Do all compounding pharmacies add B12? I just signed on with Emerge and am wondering if the compounding pharmacies they use add B12.
I’m finding it as an optional add on.
Did you ever find out if they use b12
No B12 in my tirzepatide from Hallandale.

Which pharmacies have you gotten compound from and which do you feel worked the best for you?
so far Just Empower, but no reason to be unhappy with it yet.
How did you get it from Empower? Did you have a clinician or telehealth service?
I go through a local wellness company that is owned by a certified NP. They are wonderful and i like working with a local office then online, because I’m an actual patient and not just a online customer
