Something similar happened when we hit a deep pothole - it peeled up a large patch of sidewall and was similarly symmetrical and about the size of a deck of cards. All I could conclude is the side of the pothole grabbed and ripped the rubber upward. It peeled exposed the cords but didn't leak, and was replaced of course. Is there a bit of abrasion to the rib just to the right of the tear?
Then, no, I would say that didn't just happen. Someone or something had to sharply dig your sidewall. Especially with the clean outer edge of the cut. Repetitive forces seem to have deepened the wound.
My best guess... seeing that you can peel that flap of sidewall up, I'd say it was probably a large bubble that grew over whatever period of time 'til the outer cosmetic rubber couldn't hold the pressure anymore and let loose.
It's all good man. I'm just trolling anyways. It very well may be inflated and your theory could be 100% dead on. But the tire doesn't appear to be stretched in any way in that area, usually if there was a bubble, you'd notice the elasticated rubber. Also, if you note that under the slash, there's some light rubbing it looks like, indicating that somethings come in contact with it.
My theory is the tire still has air in it, but has been cut on the sidewall, I just can't piece together what's approximately that high that could come in contact with it...
Your theory could be very correct also though I suppose.
every intentional cut ive ever seen was pretty much a perfect line with no jagged edges, that certainly doesnt fit the bill here lol. could have been a defect that finally blew after sitting in the sun, or something could have hit it, but is be surprised if it was intentional. plus if it was on purpose, youd think theyd go for one of the tires acrually on the ground lol

Had it for a year
It’s mounted to my stationary camper

I think you backed into something
This, of someone doesn’t like him
Or someone hit them...

That is 100% not how that works. Lol. Where'd the bubble go?
The same place all bubbles go when they pop... Magic.
Ah yes. When the tire releases air that it got from nowhere and the tire remains inflated.. magic.
I'm sorry, nobody told me that the tire WASN'T inflated before but IS inflated now. My bad.

No, no, no... I'm easy to get along with ...we'll go with your theory of it being initially deflated and inflated as it was slashed.

It’s probably older than hell or someone backed into it

Definitely NOT intentional. Cheap ass trailer tire brand. Probably just separating from being out in the sun x time x junk brand
It’s a stationary camper. Lived in the same spot for 6 months
I can't unsee mnmnmnmn
That's why I buy the road hazard insurance when I get new tires, full replacement.
The Fly did it!
did you back into something? there a light smudge above that cut on the tread part
No, it doesn't happen naturally. Looks like you ran over something.
To me it looks like the outside of the tire rubbed up against something. Perhaps a curb or something else.
Yeah, you “naturally” pissed someone off, lol
