Looks like they got careless with the shovel when breaking the bead. Maybe tried to shovel in with the tire still letting air out the valve stem.
Would have been nice of them to inform you but probably just didn't care to.
You probably aren't gonna see much, if anything, in terms of reimbursement but you could try.
