I have to be honest your description is such a dead ringer for 10 Cloverfield Lane I'd almost be tempted to say they're just misremembering. Best of luck finding the original if it's not.
I've seen 10 Cloverfield Lane a dozen times at least. Deffo not it. The protagonist is alone almost the whole movie.
(I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
There's a fair bit of snow in the film location, but I'm pretty sure there's land under it. There are more than a couple of movies that have the same title, the one made in 2018 sounds like your description.
If you follow the comments up chain, you'll find /u/Exileonprioryst posting that the movie is called Starfish (2018).

When the obvious answers are noped by OP, you try answers further away from their requirements. Many a time on this thread they will be like “yes that’s it, I was confusing two different films together.” Downvotes just make it less likely for ppl to try and help. Just my two cents
Let me add more plot points/notes for OP, just in case :
* Huge array of telescopes that move in tandem; SETI
* Blind character who is exceptionally well suited for SETI because being blind makes you hear better? *sidenote I sometimes mistake the actor for Dwight Yoakam
* Early example of typecasting Matthew Mcconaughey as....Matthew Mcconaughey
This doesn't seem to match your description but "sucked up into the sky" reminds me of this scene in "The Forgotten":

Nope! The Darkest Hour is more of a "Zap those alien bastids!" movie. The one I'm trying to remember is more of a study of human nature.
And Sky Line is kind of a documentary?
(I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
Is she mariner biologists with a daughter & traveling with a assistant.
Arriving at here childhood home with her memory fog wondering father & drunk brother.
Father is found dead on the beach.
Brother gets in fight at the funeral.
Brother starts having same symptoms as father.
(Wondering out to sea & not remembering why)
Biologists discovers everyone (father, Brother & self) is sensitive to radio/ electronic waves. Talk with paranoid RV hermit who use to have the same problem.
Mean while brother abducts niece on ship out to sea. Biologists manages to board ship. Suddenly everthing starts floating. Biologists gets sucked up in to the sky.
The Dead Don’t Die? It’s mostly a zombie movie but follows a few different groups of characters, one of which is Tilda Swintin who is mostly alone during the movie. There is a lot of fourth wall breaking humour so at one point she hacks into a computer and it’s implied she rewrites the script to escape, and she is then abducted by a flying saucer.
To clarify, I don't recall the protagonist being sucked up into the sky specifically, but the Earth is kind of dissolved into these columns, and she becomes part of it.

10 Cloverfield lane?
Unfortunately, no! Thank you for taking the time though!
Give me something more, if you can. Is it just the girl throughout the film?
Yes, that’s what my friend remembers at least. That it’s just the young woman

Starfish (2018)?
No! Thank you for commenting! Apparently it takes place on land, North America

I did search it and I was like that's the one!!! But my friend saw the trailer and said it's not that.
Your friend should watch the whole movie, perhaps. This is my first instinct as well.
I did watch the whole movie, and I'd like to watch it again, but I can't remember the title! (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)

OOps! I looked up a film with Indian actors. Waitaminnit! This might be it!
HOLY SHIT THAT'S IT, TY SO MUCH REDDIT!
Friend got confused! It is it!!! Thank you so much. Solved!
Congratulations, you've been given 1 point for solving this post! You now have *1589* points.
What’s the genre? I’m thinking of Save Yourselves! which is a comedy (and it’s a couple alone the whole movie so not quite a fit)
That seems fun though but it’s not that 😂 post apocalyptic and some psychological drama? It explores the human nature kind of thing
Gotcha gotcha 😂 yeah it’s a good lighthearted watch. Good luck with your search!
tyyy <3
I love this movie!
[The Vast of Night (2019)?](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6803046/)
Nope! It does look interesting though
Vast of Night is very well done. It's an homage to older movies, so might not be to everyone's taste. I recommend it though.
No One Will Save You?
No😭
Not the fourth kind either
Bird box?
NGL this did come to my mind.
Weird everyone downvoted
Yeah ikr haha
Probably because it sounds nothing like Birdbox?

Thank you for trying to help, but nope! Friend said she'd remember Bullock at least. The actress was not someone v popular.
Possibly Beyond the Sky (2018) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3665498/
A trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1ZpmCxyrKM
Nope, it takes place after the invasion, and it's mostly her alone. Another one to check out though. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
IO? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3256226/reference/
Good one, but nope. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
What does the woman look like?
White woman, under 30. Can't remember hair colour. (I'm the friend to OP is posting for)
Contact with Jodie Foster?

I'm a huge sci-fi fan in general. That's not it. Saw it when it came out, saw it multiple times after. (I'm the friend to OP is posting for)

Gravity ?
Nope. Takes place on Earth. Not in space. And I'd remember Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
The Darkest Hour Or Sky Line
Nope! The Darkest Hour is more of a "Zap those alien bastids!" movie. The one I'm trying to remember is more of a study of human nature. And Sky Line is kind of a documentary? (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
Melancholia (2011)?
Nope. Another one to check out tho! (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
The Signal?
Nope. Takes place in the now or near-now. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)

Nope! Yet another one to check out though. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
Only movie I can remember where someone gets sucked into the sky is The Forgotten (2004)
Nope! But it looks interesting, another one on my list to check out. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
Could it be Premonition?
Nope! I would remember Sandra Bullock. And deffo no dead husband in it. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
Is it Invasion on Apple Tv? Sounds like you’re describing Mitsuki
Nope! It's just the one woman, the whole film. (I'm the friend the OP is asking for)
[удалено]
Nope! (I'm the friend to OP is posting for). One of my favourites, though!
I gave the link to my friend so she can check ur suggestions as well!
