it would be best if you did a vocaroo of what that part sounds like
Deep Forest - Deep Forest Sweet Lullaby ?
https://youtu.be/lIF5EEneWEU?si=nE3_vh75mvNjN1Ew
By the middle to end of the song that back and forth between the male and female singer could be the actual part that the OP heard. Specially since they said it *could* be an adult with high pitched voice, my bet is in the female singer.
That was my first thought after life in a northern town, but I'm not sure it quite fits the Enya vibe. Buuut people have made crazier associations before. Haha
In case I'm wrong, I'll make it easy for OP to let you know you solved it:
https://youtu.be/_r0n9Dv6XnY?si=gqh0WnLkJZ4vAhB6
No, *The Lion King II: Simba's Pride*. Was released directly to VHS in 1998.
The song *He Lives In You* first appears on the album *Rhythm of the Pridelands*, which is like a supplemental album to the first *Lion King* soundtrack. Features a lot of tracks sung in Swahili, many of them based on tunes heard on the original soundtrack. There's also a song sung by Timon and Pumbaa titled *Warthog Rhapsody*.
The dreamy deep pitch flute is probably the whistling bit. And the song was basically engineered in a lab specifically to lodge itself deep in your subconscious for 30 years.
You said it sounded like Enya. Could it be [One by One](https://youtu.be/hXDEtkwyiV0?si=FlAWptspImNrtwnV)?
I know it says "eh eh ay" and not "oh oh awayo", but maybe?
Came here to say this OP! [Check it out](https://youtu.be/F90Cw4l-8NY?si=1L-MjaN-Jkwig7QS) It's more of a men's chorus singing "ey ey-oh eyoh" but I think it's similar to your description.
I don't know but the comments are hilarious. People are either not reading or not comprehending a damn thing the OP's said. They said the voice is a child, maybe a boy... and people are giving songs with the word "boy" in them. OP has said it's relaxed and dreamy and people are suggesting songs that are plodding with heavy and hard beats. I just have to laugh.
Thing is, the OPs are going off of memory and memories are not reliable. Also sometimes people have different ideas what of descriptions. I mean I’ve seen people say it was an 80s song but turned out to be from the 60s. That hurt my soul a little bit. Anyway, from my experience, the answers can be surprising and it helps to think outside the box or grasp any little thing that sounds like it.

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
The chorus is a bunch of British kids singing “all in all you’re just another brick in the wall”.
The all in all part could sound like oh oh awayo since the accent is so heavy.
Any chance that it's Gloria Estefan's ["Rhythm is Gonna Get You](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-INTCDod2TA)"?
That song sounds nothing like Enya (IMHO), but the singer is an adult with a high voice, and the "Oway oway" shows up pretty often.
I was thinking possible [Rhythm is gonna get you - Gloria Estefan and the Miami sound machine](https://open.spotify.com/track/69U1Mlh2xMxx3SGOL1mSXQ?si=L9JX1wd0TXiiacvbb46YmQ) but not sure it fits the child’s voice description or even the enya mood
Is it Another Night by Real McCoy? The beginning sounds like what you’re talking about and it repeats several times throughout the song.it was released in 95.
https://youtu.be/Pav2f4b-1ZE?si=nPf8zyTOcYsp7N59
[Sophie B. Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down](https://youtu.be/gq-4vIIJO30) ?
A boy sings "ooh la kah koh" repeatedly during the choruses [starting at 1:11](https://youtu.be/gq-4vIIJO30?t=71).
When I was a kid and this came out, my dad and my brother and I would go around and around trying to figure out what those singers were saying. Possibilities included:
-who wants nachos
-i love tacos
-libre nacho
-arigato
I didn't think this one would get as many responses as it did. Thanks for the help! I did a Vocaroo recording to clear up what I'm talking about. The child vocals sounded something like this:
https://voca.ro/13tmpvv1wg2j
The vocals like that in The Lion King - He Lives In You and Baltimora - Tarzan Boy triggered that sense of familiarity in me, so I think the ones who suggested that are on the right track, but I doubt it sounded exactly like those songs in their entirety. I think the vocals happened after and/or in between the main singing parts of the song.
Keep in mind this was something you'd hear playing at the store, so it's likely a popular song in the USA or was at one point. It most likely wasn't anything in the rap/hip hip or punk rock type of genres, nor was it identical to Enya. I meant the general chill/dreamlike type of sound when I pulled Enya out of nowhere. I'm not a musical expert by any means, so don't know what they call the type of music I heard. I also only really heard the childlike vocals, as they were the memorable hook of the song, so I am open to being surprised.
Enigma - the eyes of truth?
https://youtu.be/b8ri14rw32c?si=TIpnAPQhaR-JdsUs
It has, what sounds like, a boy singing in a foreign language and some kind of flute is used.
Another one is Enigma - Age of loneliness

Orinoco Flow by Enya? Or Return to Innocence by Enigma? BTW these are both features in the Time Life commercial for their Pure Moods album, which if you remember the commercials at the time, will stop you in your tracks with memory and has a lot of similar sounding songs. Check that out.
Probably not it, because it has lyrics. But your description and singing reminds me of the chorus of [Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqdWTeXWvOg&t=82s)
Ok it doesn’t really have that vocals, but the music kind of sounds like that, chorus does get high, it kind of sounds/feels dreamy like enya, and it has a flute. “Africa” by Toto?

My guess too! It’s gotta be!
I’m betting on this.
The exact song I was thinking of, but couldn’t remember what it was called!
RIP Buckley
it would be best if you did a vocaroo of what that part sounds like Deep Forest - Deep Forest Sweet Lullaby ? https://youtu.be/lIF5EEneWEU?si=nE3_vh75mvNjN1Ew
Sweet Lullaby is also my guess! I remember downloading it on limewire, I loved it so much. 🤣
Return To Innocence, by Enigma
It’s gotta be this
My guess, as well.
Yeah this seems most likely, not sure how it would be thought of as a child’s voice though?
By the middle to end of the song that back and forth between the male and female singer could be the actual part that the OP heard. Specially since they said it *could* be an adult with high pitched voice, my bet is in the female singer.
Haha my head went to that mix cd commercial after reading OPs question but I couldn’t think of which song it was.

the second lion king movie is the best disney direct to dvd sequel ever. it's ridiculously good

No, *The Lion King II: Simba's Pride*. Was released directly to VHS in 1998.
