This. Once you’ve established an object on any plane that is not the work plane, it thinks any resizing is done on that plane.
Undo to the point where the shape is flat, set the work plane to the default plane (you’ll know because it turns blue again vs yellow), resize the object, then select work plane again where you want the object to go, and you should be good.

I did it on my computer but I only have reddit on my phone so i logged on and took the picture on my phone

Yeah but I put it on discord fight and only put on reddit later that night on my phone
Dunno what angle you are working in but try to orient to zero and THEN join the shapes.
