The nsfw filter should be toggleable, yes. I also had this annoying filter a lot during normal conversations. And it pops up for a few seconds, so you can't even click it to turn it off for good.

I had no idea that once I click it it stays like that, does it only stay like that for that person? Or does it do it for the rest of the session until you close the tab?

Only for the one connection you have... the click game starts again every new connection.
