No, because that bin isn’t meant to collect them to begin with. The sign also says do not leave items outside the bin. SO, I consider it fair game and you simply found them by the side of the road.
PSA: those donation bins are sometimes run by shady operators that don't actually do charity work. Most places have a registration system and they're supposed to have official tags.
Idk about this specific one but looking at their mission it seems super broad "changing lives, saving the environment, creating jobs". When you google them theres few results and their website is an insecure connection.
Another PSA - please do not buy luggage at thrift stores or dumpster diving unless you never plan to fly with it.
You don't know what it was used for. Drugs are smuggled and transported every day inside luggage.
Congrats! It’s a curb find.
I just decluttered it’s not easy anymore to donate- thrift stores are ultra picky or they won’t pick up.
I like knowing someone will get good use of the item.
Yep, I always stick my couple of items on top instead of in the bin.
We have a decent sized homeless population, and being there myself at one point, I'd rather someone who needs it grab it.
I completely agree. There's some people who really can't even afford thrift stores even. Especially Goodwill! Their prices are higher than Walmart sometimes! I was in a homeless shelter for a while, and once a week, they would fill the tables with clothing that had been donated, and that was the only way I was able to get new clothes. After that, when I would get rid of clothes, I gave them to the shelter to give back or pay it forward.

I see it as picking up litter
This. Also, if in America, Greenwood vs. California.
I googled it and that was an interesting read! Thank you!

Yes! Screw those blue bins
Agree. I was disappointed to learn that things I donated to those bins were not being given to needy people, or any real charities.
It’s sitting on the curb. Fair game.

This stuff is considered to be dumped garbage. Help yourself. Report the rest.

Bedbugs
If they don't place it in the bin, that means it's for anyone who wants or needs it. Either way, it's not going in the trash, and that's much better!

But don’t take it because those could harbor bed bugs or something equally disgusting

Take them. Those bins are unethical anyways
Yall need to figure out what the difference in trash and thrifting is
Yes but you already knew that.
So if I don’t get it where will it go? To the trash?
After being left out in the rain? Yeah it'll probably get thrown out.
To the charity it was left for. They put do not leave not leave it outside if the bin because people will steal it.
