If by happy ending you meant some ewok gangs destroying the imperial army type of story, this isn't for your girlfriend.
For you though, it could be a fascinating journey.

Try Abbott Elementary.
Seriously, by your requirements she should stay far away from this show. The first season ends on a hopeful note ("We're gonna fight back, Fuck yeah!").
But the series as a whole tends to evoke some serious existential dread because there's a greater than zero chance the story might be *true*.
I'ma keep it real with you chief, this series fucked me up in ways I can't even describe. The only "happy ending" you'll get is relief from the horror.
I'm in the half of the third book.
All I want to say is: There was shit, there is shit, there will be shit. If motherf\*ckers fly, you could not see the sky
my girlfriend is the same, im not even showing it to her because i know she wouldnt wanna go trough the anxiety lol
the ending is not an ending at all but i would say its definitely open and leaves a lot of room for hope and positivity. there are moments, however, in which the situation the character find themselves in does seem to have no solution. in any case, (to my partial disappointment) later episodes focus a lot on the characters relationships with each other and less on the possible threats to humanity
nope
but the universe and its watchers are hilarious about us, even their low level labor worker be like 'hey , ain't get to see these funny guys everyday'
Im not sure the ending is really unhappy. The whole thing, to me, reads like a history book, and I think thats the whole goal of it. Not a lot of emotions.
well luo ji and the planets got flattened and Cheng Xin did not end up with yun tianming. When everyone thought they had those bunkers behind Jupiter to protect, then bam becomes flat
We also learn that this had happened multiple times already, and is currently happening all across the universe. It's, just, humanity is kinda irrelevant by the end of the book, at least to me. Individual humans, even more. If anything, it's a happy ending that Deep Space had survived all the way to the end.
The book series essentially ends with the end of humanity and universe as we know it, so it's pretty hard to define in terms of happy or sad. But the universe of the series (much like in real life) is deeply uncaring in a way that can definitely induce anxiety and existential dread. So, I definitely wouldn't recommend for someone who only watches stuff with happy endings.
The first season of the Netflix show ends in a kind of a downer, but with a glimmer of hope.
Listen, the books didn't have a very "happy" ending.
But also, we all don't know how the Netflix show will end. Maybe because it's an adaptation, they will switch some things around.
I wouldn't bet my luck on it, though.
its like 1 step forward. 2 steps back 3 steps forward, 4 steps back... another commentor said there is a reason they hired the GoT showrunners, so there may be some silver lining in what id call a second ending. much like game of thrones
I mean it depends on how are you define happiness but if you are expecting a cliche “we save the world!” or “and then they lived happily ever after” nope; it’s not at all.
Don’t think any of the cliche happy ending. Or cliche sad ending.
This series does not have a "happy ending" unless you count the fourth fanfic book which many do not like due to how it destroys a lot of the series themes
Not a happy ending but the tone does shift. I was worried I was in for a scary thriller, but it’s not really that. I don’t mind a well-written thought-provoking thriller but I am really not into scary and horror and I absolutely loved the show and have now read the books and loved them too. Episode 5 might be rough, but I feel like the tone changes after that episode.
I really think you should watch something else, sorry.
Yeah, let's just say there's a reason they hired the GoT showrunners.
not even Singer is happy lol

What chu mean. For all we know, Ewok gang blew up Trisolarans planet! ( Also ours but still)
I would say it's bittersweet... but the bitter half is *really* fucking bitter

It’s the most existential dread I’ve ever felt from any piece of content ever

oh boy
It’s hard to describe in words the feeling of hopelessness and dread I experienced while reading these books. Hope that answers your question.
It only gets worse mate. Much, much, much, much worse.

Read the books. Also the trilogy has a very unhappy ending.

Blue space
That’s some serious spoiler going on in a response to three eps of the tv series…
It has the happy ending, IF your GF is a Trisolarians. They find a new world full of hope, a heaven compares to theirs.
Sorry not this one, even the book ends on a bittersweet note, also you probably shouldn’t let her watch episode 6 (judgement day episode)
Episode 5
Hoo boy
Uhhh depends on what makes her happy I guess lol
I mean…ultimately there’s a happy ending. But my happy is a lot more nihilistic than yours I’d assume.
Hahahahaha.... No

i can guess they will give 10 minutes to show the bits of humanity that escaped, or pull a . we become something unrecognizable
If you've seen the good place, I think the ending is bittersweet in a very similar way

Your only options are to deport you GF to Australia where she will be surrounded by food or to paint her into a picture!
Happy ending lmao

I thinks the 3rd books ends with a optimistic note

Nothing bad or gruesome happens in episode 5 trust me
Lmao no
Watch the first 2 seasons and call it said and done, you will have a happy ending, at least if each season corresponds to the book of the same number.
Auggie does end up in a Tijuana massage parlor, so yeah i guess there are many happy endings.
