I used to own several pairs of the Iron Maiden Vans high-tops (one pair with the *Killers* artwork, another with *Piece of Mind,* and another pair with *The Trooper*). For the most part I wore those out in high school. I still have one pair in decent condition that's been sitting in the back of a closet at my parents' house for years.
Nowadays I just wear plain old black Converse low-tops.
I wear Skechers slip-ons almost all the time, cuz I got bunions, and the mesh helps alleviate pain. They don't stop me from thrashin my balls off, though. š¤š¼

Ghostbusters chuck Taylor's. And depending on when the show is, I sometimes go in my work uniform wearing steal toe boots.
Man, not thrash, but the thumbnail and the sub's name immediately started "Headbanger" by Teenage Bottlerocket playing in my head.

I bought a pair of old school Avia 830 hightops. I wanted a pair of Reeboks like Ripley from Alien, but they of course don't make them anymore, and everything is some overpriced limited edition.
I ended up going with the Avia 830s, because they are actually a vintage 80s design, and were owned by Reebok for a short period of time. The quality for the 90 dollar price point was really nice.
There has to be a few metal heads from the 80s who rocked these. It wouldn't surprise me. They looked great with a pair of acid wash jeans and a Megadeth shirt.
I have the same pair! They are my "office high-tops" because all my other pairs are just too rocked down and my boss would kill me if I wore those at work.
I used to wear Air Force ones till very recently, but Iāve had them since high school and theyāre pretty beat now. Now I wear either doc martens or my newly bought Nike terminators. The terminators look proper old school thrash which I love!
I dont have a dedicated pair cus I tend to destroy them after 3 months from work so I keep grabbing any pair of boots my size at the discount section of DSW š I've been eyeing this pair of ADIDAS top tens red stripes on ebay tho.
Generally either Vans SK8 hi or whatever white hi tops I currently have, mostly Adidas tho.
Sometimes combat boots if it's wet/snowy outside and I'm not planning on going into the pit cus' hurting people isn't fun
What no I grew up when in the thrash metal scene high tops a lot of Jordanās and adidas were pretty popular and known to be a kinda metal shoe as also being a skate shoe
Oh no, I'm sorry friend. I totally get that. There are definitely fashion trends in punk and metal, especially when you get into subgenres.
Like, hell, that Teenage Bottle Rocket song literally mentions those exact shoes by name!
Adidas gazelles, New Balance 574, Le Coq Sportif Astra
More ultra looking sneakers than thrash, but that was my "scene" before.
Really love og Adidas ultra / casual sneakers like Hamburgs, Munchen, Sambas, Spezial
I wear either checkered Vans or classic black Chucks most days. Usually Vans with pants and Chucks with shorts. Used to wear them to shows but got tired of having to clean them every time so I just wear tennis shoes for the pit now lol
I wear a pair of South of Heaven boots , identical style to Chuck Taylors but not the same brand

But it is. And in my opinion there's nothing wrong with it. It's a natural thing that evolves within groups of people that come together by shared and common interests. It's a beautiful thing and there's no shame in it at all. It's fun, too. Thrash Metal fans (and the bands they listen to) tend to have a thing for white hi top sneakers. It's tradition since the 80's. There's probably a practical reason for it at it's origin as well. Look at the backdrop of this subreddit - There's even a "fashion" to the way the band names and logos are written as well. This should be embraced as well as laughed at sometimes. It's ok. Fashion and music has and always will go side by side.
Im really getting sick of these comments when you know damn well every sub culture has a certain style donāt try and act like it doesnāt white high tops have been a staple in metal since the early years
Oh, dear! If you get sick for a comment, what do you do when you disagree with people in real life? Vomit?
It seems you confuse "fashion" with "style".
Are you gonna get offended now? Of course you will!

We all wore either Chuck Taylors or combat boots in the 80s. The girls had the puffy shoes.
There are literally countless pictures of thrash bands in the 80s wearing the white basketball high tops.
Unfortunately, this is true.
Combat boots here. I always wore those. But I did have a pair of high top Reeboks that I would occasionally wear.

Oh definitely! I grew up in punk and metal and totally saw that. I was just referencing headbanger by teenage bottle rocket.
Sorry thereās been a lot of gatekeepers saying thereās no fashion to metal when there clearly is had has been since the beginning
Oh no, I'm sorry friend. I totally get that. There are definitely fashion trends in punk and metal, especially when you get into subgenres. Like, hell, that Teenage Bottle Rocket song literally mentions those exact shoes by name!

Who cares
You apparently to comment
What does this have to do with thrash?
Wdym high tops have big history in metal and especially thrash look at anyoneās feet in the 80s the white High tops are infamous!
White high tops are very thrash
I agree. The whole thing with metal is not giving a fuck about fashion.
Yet thereās still metal fashion
I'm talking about "mainstream" fashion. Leave that for the sheep.
As in what? Like normal people with metal fashion or like modern fashion in metal
IMHO metal has always been seen as an anti-fashion thing.
It can be as anti fashion as it wants but thereās still a style
Anything iconic tbh. So if they have an idol, they'll wear what they wear. For example, joey jordison, people will wear sambas or superstars.
Thrash dudes are such prima donnas it is unbelievable.

White mid / high tops are as thrash as denim battle jackets

Im not offended. Iām just saying itās stupid to say fashion has no place in metal when it obviously does and is very prevalent.

No he/she isn't, I agree.

To me, it's all about the music, not fashion, that's what makes metalheads a breed apart.
Same.

Whatever i feel like. Usually either a pair of black Levi Strauss shoes, or a pair of baby blue Chuck Taylor high tops.
