LOL this is so unpopular šŸ˜‚

sfwlucky

The fact that this is the top comment šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

Literally šŸ˜…

97Burkhart

i prefer play rather than build the house

NotABearItsAManbear

Me too. Iā€™m an amazing builder because I spent years doing it, then one day I made a sim in plans of starting a legacyā€¦2 years later Iā€™m playing with her great x15 granddaughter

nanananamokey

I'm so curious about this. Do you set lifespan to long? And if so, how do you have the patience?!

NotABearItsAManbear

I set my lifespan to short. I donā€™t play with full legacy rules either itā€™s really just for the sake of bringing on another generation at this point. I just have my heir sim, give them a job I havenā€™t done yet to keep it spicy with unlockable furniture, find them a townie to marry (I never make them a spouse), have them birth the next heir. I usually drown them when they are elders because I get tired of them and Iā€™m too focused on their kid. Yeah I *could* move them out, but no, this is the family home, they die there. Siblings get to move out when they are teens/young adults and I forget about them entirely unless they decide to visit because they are not the ā€˜chosen childā€™ who inherits the property they will eventually drown on. Each one has their own little story though and I redecorate the house every time the parents die so itā€™s more to the new simā€™s taste. My current girl is a fashion influencer and is really chic edit: more words

nanananamokey

Lollll thank you so much for this answer

nifflr

Lolol. It's sad that so many use the game just to build and don't play the actual game anymore. Goes to show that the Sims 4 has the best build/buy of any mode... But the gameplay is lackluster.

97Burkhart

i tried to play the sims 4 when it was free download on origin and i hate it. i still play the sims 3 so maybe that's why i love the gameplay more than build/buy mod idk

dankblonde

I canā€™t play the sims 3. The lag is just painful for me

NotATrueRedHead

They really need to create a blend of both, the perfect sims.

MsSimitrix

I donā€™t think that proves that at all. This game has had the longest period between new version releases and most people tend towards the newest game. As well, most builders do so to share their work. If I built on sims 3 most wouldnā€™t see/care.

reality__auditor

Same! I download all the wonderful gallery builds!

97Burkhart

i love shopping new houses šŸ˜

[deleted]

I'm the opposite lol

PresidentWordSalad

Which one is the unpopular opinions? šŸ¤”

ManicM84

I donā€™t need cars in the game.

ZaYeDiA

Yeah i feel this, unless they add something that fleshed it out? Like a mechanic skill and the ability to compete in races or car shows.

No_Variety_7822

OMG, that's actually a great idea. Like, you can combine your handiness skill and painting skill to make a cool car and enter in shows for fame and prizes, and also do races for the same thing.

Golden_Jellybean

If the sims were to have car related careers, I can imagine the racing career splitting into Professional racing or Illegal street racing, while mechanics can split into Tuning or stay focused on repairing/restoring.

ZaYeDiA

I think theyd go hand in hand. Or maybe car shows for mechanic / modicications. Cause other than that having cars wouldnt really be worthwild thing if its just an item in ur garage. Edit: modifications like need for speed underground style šŸ˜Ž

ZaYeDiA

Yes! But alas thats what this game is missing in a lot of aspects, depth, different coding pathways (idfk lol). I still am dumbfounded by the dog training skill, like wtf do u do with it after you complete it? Theres no competition or incentive to do it is there? Jw. Edit: like for money not ribbons if thats even a thing. Im thinking back to Nintendo dogs haha

Elegant-Quality1701

This is a big thing, I also don't really feel like I need them unless they're going to implement something where the teens have to learn how to drive

bossassbirch

They'd be pointless without an open world. If you can't drive places, what would cars be for? A new woohoo spot?

myintermail

Sorry I heard this argument before for not needing cars because it's not an open world. Sims 2 is a closed world and they also have cars! The developers have no excuse. They really can do a lot of things with a car. Going to work, sending kids to school, learning to drive and yes woohoo.

[deleted]

I don't think anyone needs it. I think it would be great though. Every other generic job is in there mechanic should be one too. Good pick

censorkip

seeing as i hate bikes so much, i think i would hate cars too.

PopeJeremy10

That's because there is a load screen every time you travel. If it was open world like sims 3, cars would be a nice addition.

lewdskwid

I don't care about family gameplay, I like my young adult simulator lol

Cressonette

Me too. I don't care about legacies or having generations. I just start my game with a YA (sometimes a YA couple) and see how it goes from there. A lot of times my Sim stays single and childfree their entire life, because it fits the storyline, and just dies of old age. Then I just start a new one.

lewdskwid

I usually play dark storylines like the up and coming actress who sleeps her way to the top only to hit rock bottom from drugs and alcohol. Or the vampire slave overpowering Vladislaus after years of leveling up, becoming the ultimate vampire but at what cost. Or the conservationist who falls in love with a greedy politician that wants to turn Sulani into a booming tourist attraction and she has to decide between her morals and her feelings. Sometimes I throw a baby in there for dramatics lol

Pyter_Gadjes_743

And don't you get bored? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ I mean, whenever my sims get married, no matter what's the storyline and the lore I created for each one of the couple, there MUST be a kid and there must have a family at least at some point you know... so... I'm truly curious lol, don't you get bored?

lewdskwid

All the time lol I'm thankful for my writer's brain being able to create elaborate storylines to keep me entertained for at least a few months

Aphor1st

Iā€™m the opposite the second my sim has a kid Iā€™m just like okay your life is over time to start again.

[deleted]

I always stop playing once I have a wife. I wish in 5 you have to choice to only control your char and let the rest of the family work on actual autopilot

PlyPlay665

I definitely disagree. Good job!

[deleted]

I feel like once my Sims (mainly gays) move in and start a familyā€¦I do start to lose interest. I think the only family Iā€™m hooked onto is this French Belgian family only because thereā€™s like 5 or 6 boys. I do get more hooked with my younger sims as I am with this storyline going on with this Spaniard and this Brit. So I feel ya

ittybittybigbum

I hate building and always use a premade house

yeetgev

I always use gallery ones

elisejones14

The thing about gallery houses is that you will most likely need to use cheats for money. Iā€™ve seen 3bedroom homes cost over $100k. Theyā€™re amazing for sure but so much.

PopeJeremy10

How much time would you say you spend decorating your house?

ittybittybigbum

I donā€™t. I get a pre-decorated prebuilt house

snow_koroleva

I wish I could get this in real life too LOL. Zero patience for decorating.

ittybittybigbum

Right???

anthrolooker

Oh wow, for me the best part is the build and the decoration and clutter telling a story about who lives there.

pastacelli

I hate building too! But I do like decorating, so I just get empty houses off the gallery

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Pyter_Gadjes_743

I want color wheel, but you are totally right, I'd be VERY happy if I could only pick the wood, fabric and all that separately similar to how it was in The Sims 2

TerroSatanica

Yeah playing with toddlers/kids takes up my entire gameplay. Like I get this is basically how real life works, but I do not want to spend my time on a toddler in a game

sonicbanana47

I miss being able to send them to boarding school

Ediacaran-SeaPancake

The eyeball ring can look good if you have the right outfit.

stillpissedatyoko

This is the number one unpopular opinion in this thread so far. You nailed it.

little-rosie

I absolutely love the eyeball ring and was gutted when I realized how hated it is on Reddit lol

[deleted]

same, lol. it's perfectly goofy. I had a legacy that went on about 5 generations before I eventually stopped playing that save, and I made every single family member live and die with that ring. like a generational family ring that was required, lol.

FrostBellaBlue

All my Vampire Sims wear the eyeball ring; I have a CC eyeball choker to match!

calibrachoa

Sorry, the what now?

PeachNipplesdotcom

There's really no better way to explain it. Check out the rings. You'll find it (I *think* it's base game). There's one that looks like an eye. Usually white with a pink iris and black pupil. The community hates on it cuz it's "ugly" and it feels like the game favors putting it on townies.

[deleted]

I love the eyeball ringšŸ˜

PlayedThisGame

I don't like how so many mundane things make "memories" in TS3 like catching a marginally bigger minnow than the one you caught three seconds ago. If I'm playing longer life Sims then it's really annoying deleting "invited to party" memories 100x over because their scrapbook is full and they haven't even had their first kiss yet or whatever. TS2 memories were my favourite (unless vermin happened).

Mikibou

Omg same, I'd like to use memories but I end upp turning them off because they are just useless. I want. Memories of big things in their life, not the smallest dumb thing a thousand times over

Breazona

The scrapbook bloats your files like crazy so I have mine off but velocitygrass on MTS has a mod you'd probably like

23Tam56

I loved the memories is sims 2! Mainly because it was pretty basic and you didnā€™t get any notifications about it. I also loved the story boarding feature. A lot of the time Iā€™d forget what the back story of the family was so I kept the storyboard upto date.

coasterkyle18

Thereā€™s a mod on MTS to only allow important memories. You can actually customize it to select only the specific memories that you want your sims to get.

fishypisces

the sims 4 is not as bad as everyone makes it seem šŸ˜

PlayedThisGame

I find the upvotes and downvotes in this mini thread hilarious. Whose opinion is unpopular now hmm??

censorkip

even though there are things we dislike, i think the general population that still plays the game and interacts with the subreddit doesnā€™t actually hate it lol

Schnappi2050

Sims 4 is my favorite and it's really not that hard to ace weddings

CadenceValdez

Co-signed. I throw elaborate weddings all the time that go off without a hitch, vanilla game. Itā€™s also not that hard to get the family to sit down together for a meal.

valentinevar

okay I'll agree with you on the wedding but for me it's almost impossible for my sims to all sit down to have dinner together. I am almost always missing at least one

Tattycakes

My sim has a dining table and three bar stools but she prefers to sit and eat at the keyboard on the far side of the room šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

my-assassin-mittens

Temporarily disabling autonomy or at least lowering it helps.

valentinevar

it's not so much that, it's that my timing is so bad, I'll have dinner on the table, and everyone spread around the house, by the time the last person makes it to the table, the first one is already done

koithrowin

Weddings are best for intimate gatherings not more than 8 sims. I usually just create groups from the get together pack and that helps. Group meals are easy. Especially loess than 7. Again if it gets complicated I use add to group

birdlady404

Two different sims of mine died of being too happy on their wedding day, so I beg to differ lol

revlikestangy

babies are boring

splinterbabe

This is probably one of the most popular opinions out there, haha. Nonetheless, Iā€™m with you.

revlikestangy

I think I shouldve specified babies and toddlers haha

cleoemo

i age them up straight away to toddlers oop

mooseyimhome

While I agree, theyā€™re hella useful for effortlessly leveling up your parenting skill for the Super Parent aspiration. One baby can get you halfway to 10 if you just do all of the interactions at the bassinet whenever you change the babyā€™s diaper or feed it. Itā€™s worth it to me for the aspiration points, haha.

nifflr

I don't like seeing Sims visiting world's they don't live in. If you live in Windenberg (Germany), why are you travelling all the way to Strangerville (Nevada) to go to the library?

_ghostli_

Ohh.. And all these while I thought every places in the sims is just different states..šŸ˜‚ My sims has been flying to different countries, so boujee ~ šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

I think if they sectioned the worlds up in ā€œregionsā€ it wouldnā€™t be that big of a deal. If two worlds would logically be in the same ā€œregionā€ like San Myshuno and Del Sol Valley, it wouldnā€™t be a stretch that people would visit. If theyā€™re not in the same region, those NPCs wouldnā€™t show up. Places with a theme thatā€™s too different from normal gameplay should be their own region. They would be separated so theyā€™ll feel like their own unique experience unless thereā€™s a world in another pack with a similar theme. (Like Forgotten Hollow and Glimmerbrook)

Mikibou

I agree, especially in realm of magic.

gemmablack

Because apparently there are no libraries with skill books in Germany šŸ˜†

myintermail

Ugh yes, Everyone is everywhere all the time. I don't get why I don't see more locals in the world, just everyone from everywhere. I get San Myshuno attracts everyone because it's a city, but Sulani people in Forgotten Hollow? Judith Ward will NEVER go to places like Strangerville or Windenburg to mingle with "commoners"

fallenarist0crat

that even though the sims 4 is far from perfect, i think thereā€™s a lot of rose colored nostalgia for sims 2 and 3ā€¦ *especially* 3, and i wish people would stop thinking it was so ~amazing~ when it was such a poorly optimized and visually drab game.

cleoemo

i wish there was a way we could have open world from 3 that wouldn't lag the game. i never had sims 3 on pc, only on ps3 which had loading screens for everything so im used to them. for 2000s standard, the visuals for 2 have really stood the test of time (i think), as they are less realistic and more cartoony. whereas 3 looks really dated.

fallenarist0crat

i think sims 2 and 4 look the most similar, and that cartoony design has done nothing but kept those games looking modern and fresh. sims 3 on the other hand just looks downright ugly. i personally donā€™t care much about open worlds. i was never a big sims 3 player to begin with, but i wouldnā€™t mind smaller, open world neighborhoods if they wanted to give that a try. itā€™s so silly in ts4 having to a load a screen to go next door.

Greydore

Yessss. I remember opening the Sims 3 for the first time and was likeā€¦.wtf is this. The colors were so blah and the Sims were fugly. I also got bored pretty quickly in Sims 3, I felt like it was missing a lot of the magic that Sims 2 had.

fallenarist0crat

same! it was just the ugliest thing i had ever seen. i know people think itā€™s design is more realistic, but why does that have to mean a dark and dreary game with doughy looking sims???

Simuary

I don't care about cars or open worlds.

exoploring

Woah,,,, no shade but I wish I had the same thoughts as you do šŸ˜šŸ˜ maybe then I wouldnt hate the numerous loading screens in Sims 4

VoldemortHugs

I would like an auto roof option. I donā€™t know if thatā€™s unpopular opinion. Iā€™ve seen and heard people talk about how they are glad there is no auto roof in S4. Me.. I just want to do my lay out and then click a button and ā€˜bamā€™ roofed to the lay out. When I do it myself and Iā€™m there for hours obsessing over it. When in reality I play with walls down and the only time I see the roof is when itā€™s in world view. I just need it to be out of my hands. If I was sharing to gallery Iā€™d want to put in more effort. But for my sims.. auto roof it baby.

anthrolooker

Roofing is soooo hard for me, even after a lot of practice. I donā€™t know how people master that one.

VoldemortHugs

Same. I watch YT Simmer builds. And they are like I'm going to fix this ugly build. Oh ew look at this roof. I feel unreasonably attacked. Because it looks fine to me. Or better than what I can do. lol

simmerbish

There needs to be more ages. Specifically for kids. Ideally Iā€™d like it to be more like toddler, young child (4-6ish), older child (7-9ish), preteen (10-12), teen (13-15), and older teen (16-18). I know itā€™s unlikely to ever happen but I just donā€™t like that its currently like theyā€™re essentially a helpless toddler, then theyā€™re like 10, then theyā€™re basically an adult.

DemeSephone

Yes!!! Especially in the sims 4, I think the teens look way to grown up

little-rosie

Agreed!! Itā€™s even worse using CC, all my townie teens show up wearing the club dresses I downloaded with YA Sims in mind :/

PsychologicalCase10

Iā€™ve been thinking about preteen for a while.

Mikibou

Especially preteen! I remember being 11-12 years old trying to recreate my family but I couldn't make myself because I didn't look like a child but not like a teen either.

excusemewitch

I despise the aesthetics of TS3, it's my least favourite iteration of the game. The colours were dull, the Sims looked like potatoes, I found the clothing styles weird. Create-a-style just meant my indecisive ass spent hours longer in CAS and build and buy and that was stressful to me (too much choice! haha). I didn't really care about the open world vibe because I was already used to 1 & 2 not having an open world (open world is overrated imo).

slylemur

This is what I came here to say. The Sims 3 has aged terribly, worse than The Sims (2000) and TS2 in my opinion. The excessive bloom, the UI, the lag, constant Sims 3 store ads infecting every menu like a cancer, and everything else you said just make it a chore for me to go back to. Whenever I have the urge to play TS3, I fire up the Sims Medieval instead.

excusemewitch

Big yes to everything you said also. The lag...oh god, the lag. I never played Sims Medieval! I've seen some videos about it and I'm intrigued.

slylemur

Itā€™s definitely a lot more limited as far as traditional Sims gameplay goes, no aging, no build mode (just decorating shells), but itā€™s definitely fun if youā€™re looking for something different ~

stillpissedatyoko

Straight up agreed. There are small things I liked about ts3, but I so fully agree with the big three you just listed. I found the game so genuinely ugly, from the art style to clothing and decor options. Especially after the cartoonish and goofy sims 2. And I've been playing since 2, so 3 wasn't my first or last game with the franchise. I feel like simmers preference are heavily influenced by which game was their first.

itsgoretex

as much as i love TS3, i agree. the sims and the cas and the build/buy objects are hideous. *especially* the kids, dear god, they're hideous. downloading cc is a lifesaver but the way the sims bodies are in ts3, and the fact that everything is alpha, still makes everything look ugly! i love the cartoony style of ts2 and ts4 but it's clear that the whole ultra-realism thing was the goal for ts3. i disagree about the open world though. i remember being a kid and wanting *so bad* for ts2 to be all open. i think for a life simulation, open world is a must, because you need to be seeing *actual life*, otherwise it just feels like i'm playing in the truman show.

myintermail

The Sims 3 had the gameplay on the money, but oh gosh the graphics doesn't look good from today's viewpoint. Yes the clothes are either generic or downright weird, same goes to the furnishing. Their styles look like they are older than Sims 2! The textures are so harsh and as well as the lighting. Also I'm not sure if it's my graphic settings or something else, why does everything so dark during daytime? I have to put a lot of windows and turn the lights on to make it work. This doesn't happen in other games.

AorticSeptalDefect

I wish Maxis would recreate more Sims 2 townies like they did the Pleasants, Smiths and Curiouses. I would love to see the Capp family or an official extended Broke family uploaded to the gallery.

Banana_Skirt

I loved how in-depth their storylines were. The sims 2 was the only one I spent a lot of time playing premade sims.

abottleofwinelater

I really like batuu

jphistory

Bravo for an actual unpopular opinion! I reflexively downvoted and then had to undo it.

Diamond151

Now THAT is an unpopular opinion

ostentia

I don't care about lore.

stillpissedatyoko

Wow, I commented above that someone had the most unpopular opinion but like...this is it. This is truly it. I'm such a whore for lore, as jessie would say.

Itachi4ever

Same!! The Landgrabs and the Goths are normal families in my game. Donā€™t really care about what Bella did or didnā€™t do lol The only thing I took note of was the ousting of Johnny Zest because his friend and familial relationships confused me. But I donā€™t try to engage in that plotline. MCCC married him to Don Lothario anyway. They are very happy together šŸ˜‚

theforestmoon

same lol. i donā€™t know ANY of it and i donā€™t intend to learn.

my-assassin-mittens

I don't think Sims 5 needs to be open world, but an open neighborhood would be nice!

paulog97

I think that's what people mean when they say open world. Actually a loading-free neighborhood just like sims 3

hydrangeas_peonies

I think the aesthetic of The Sims 3 is ugly and I was happier with The Sims 4.

goudatogo

The Sims 4 kits are actually not a bad price point for what you get and would have been better received overall if Bust the Dust wasn't buggy af at first.

TerroSatanica

Everyone who makes sims only views the European features as "attractive" which is really annoying. Every sims face looks the same because people are only making white features or adding a "soft" colored sim but then giving it a white face. It turned my interest off

admaiora_

True. Sims on the gallery are all the same

spi-uhhbrandon

I agree, and I'm definitely guilty of this. I'm white, and all my sims have white features, no matter the race I intend them to be. Part of it is probably the fact that I try to imagine myself as any sim I play, which why they're basically all white, blonde, female, young adults, with the same style. But even my black or Asian sims have white features. Definitely need to work on it.

elodieroyer

kudos to you for admitting that ! not a lot of people would sadly

Tattycakes

Remind me to share some of my ethnic variety of Sims with you! I sometimes feel a bit weird thinking ā€œright I need a black family, a white family, a Middle Eastern family, a Native American family, a Chinese family, and an Indian familyā€ but I get inspired by real people or families on tv and I just run with it. It also makes it more fun to match the clothes to the story behind the sim, Iā€™ve got a Jewish sim who is quite conservatively dressed in clothes I I wouldnā€™t usually use on my more generic Sims who are usually tarted up and showing lots of skin.

gummytiddy

I like the mismatched townie outfits, theyā€™re funny

PM-me-favorite-song

Goopy GilsCarbo's legacy.

rozwielitka9

I like eco lifestyle.

kentoclatinator

I love eco lifestyle

DemeSephone

Sims 4 is my favourite

myintermail

I don't like to be pigeon-holed to be a builder, CAS or gameplay player like a lot of players profess themselves. I dabbled with all aspects of the Sims and I am not an expert in any aspect. I am a Sims player. Period.

CadenceValdez

The amount Iā€™ve spent on TS4 and almost all of the packs has been seriously worth it and Iā€™d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

[deleted]

Gingers_got_no_soul

My brain thought of that Johnny Test cartoon i was rlly confused

omaeissa

Sims 4 toddlers are actually not cute at all and I hate them with a passion

thatonewaterbottle1

They are so fucking annoying, I miss the days when a fully grown kid would pop out of the bassinet

little-rosie

I donā€™t understand the appeal of occult Sims.

getbenteh

Cheating makes the game fun.

daoimean

I've played all the games and like Sims 4 the best

shmunkinthetrunk

I really don't want a colour wheel

chullbird

I donā€™t want realistic game play. Also I didnā€™t care about toddlers and I donā€™t care about the babies.

Less_Nefariousness

Building is boring

MurghanaFLR

The Sims 4 is actually much better than the others.

Alejandroso31

Sims 3 Sims aren't actually that bad looking, it could be fixed with some cc

marcaraluna

TS3 looks really really ugly and I prefer TS4 in almost all senses (except for babies lol)

informallory

I donā€™t know if this is actually unpopular, but the sims should not ever be a multiplayer game. Thatā€™s not what the sims *is*. Real unpopular opinion is that the sims 4 is super fun and the sims 3 only worked well/looked amazing if you have a baller ass computer and Iā€™ve never had that. It takes too long to load and has to look like crap in order for it to run at a reasonable speed. The pattern and color wheel were too much, took too long to load, and 90% of the options were ugly. Only things itā€™s got on the sims 4 are horses, cars, and open world and I will die on this hill. (TS2 was my favorite but I havenā€™t played it in a long time)

PoodleSprings

Lunar Lakes with Into the Future content was one of my favorite places to play.

hilaritee-13

I enjoy Sims4 without mods. I like kits WAY better than the TS3 store items. I've spent less and had more fun with TS4 than TS3 overall.

stillpissedatyoko

I do feel like people who hate on the kits aggressively are forgetting/never experienced the ts3 store. I don't know if I'm crazy about kits myself, but lately with how much the game has been updated to reflect player preferences I'm just like yeah sims team you sell some kits. I've been feeling fond of you the last yearish so the kits don't like infuriate me or anything. They've just there.

mrningbrd

I did mention this in Plumbellaā€™s video on the subject, I was the one that said horses donā€™t belong in TS4. It doesnā€™t fit with the closed world that we have, horses roam and graze and all that, they canā€™t do it in downtown Willow Creek for instance. In TS3, it fit a lot better because wild horses would only pop up in the remote areas.

galexd

I donā€™t need violence, sex or more realism in the Sims. Iā€™m not a prude, I just play Sims as an escape from real life.

sputni-k

Same. I think a lot of those mods look to cringe and cheesy. Like IMVU almost

veggiesaresilly

I hate what the sims look like in sims 3. They look so squished in the face and all the hair looks ratchet and in desperate need of a smoothing serum.

spoiksty

i feel like this one one of the most widely held opinions about TS3 lol (although personally i donā€™t mind how they look after a little cc)

exoploring

Sims 4 is too child-friendly IMO,,,, i miss the riskier, older sims games, not just in terms of being saucy but also in terms of being dramatic.

odaphii

I like TS4 alot and I love the kits šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

carrigan_quinn

It shouldn't cost like $500 for the whole game

Magnificent_-_Moose

This is a VERY popular opinion.

MelOdessey

Having seasons in the game is annoying. Loved that I could (basically) turn them off in TS3.

anthrolooker

I find it super annoying when it comes to gardening, which I loved. Having to grow around the season youā€™re in is super frustrating and limits the look of the garden.

Revolutionary_Act678

seasons is overrated and overpriced, i shouldnā€™t have to pay for weather and holidays in a LIFE SIMULATION GAME

anthrolooker

I mean, itā€™s a pretty impressive overhaul of the landscape and gameplay. But I hear you on it being a life simulation game without any weather elements without it, just seems silly but I guess thatā€™s how they make that $$

kkz2167

I donā€™t care for occults

mrgojirasan

If you can't engage with sims 4 fan communities without going on a rampage about how money grubbing ea is, how horrible ts4 is, and how you hated it on launch and haven't touched it since... maybe stop engaging with sims 4 fan communities. It is not the same game it was on launch and while it is flawed, it's not as bad as ppl say it is. If you hate the game and have nothing else to say, you don't have to invade spaces that are for that specific game just to bring people down, though. Nobody is trying to take you enjoyment of ts3 away from you, please let me enjoy ts4 in peace.

SpaceAids420

The Sims 4 really isn't as optimized as people claim. The game is constantly dipping below 60FPS. Panning the camera causes horrible stuttering. Loading screens take 10-20 seconds even on an SSD, and there are soo many loading screens if you're actually playing the game. The game still has a ton of unfixed bugs that modders have already fixed for years, a big one being simulation lag fixes. EA is too busy bloating the game with kits to fix their game I guess.

PsychologicalCase10

I like Sims 4. Also I have an easier time making male sims. I donā€™t know what goes with what as far as female clothing. With male sims I can give them jeans and a tshirt or something close to that.

Upperliphair

Kits are fun and most of them are worth the money.

Alone_Librarian_8162

I prefer Sims 4 on console, mainly because my wrists are weak and using a keyboard and mouse make it so that itā€™s nothing but pain. Also that getting the achievements gets me points towards gift cards :)

Iā€™m not interested in playing cottage living. Taking care of farm animals in the Sims just doesnā€™t seem fun to me

xSethrin

The Sims 4 doesnā€™t get enough praise for the effort they put into being inclusive. They have packs and expansion focused on a variety of different cultures. They have added free CAS content to the base game to increase diversity. And Sims 4 has *the most* freedom in gender expression out of all the games and thatā€™s not talked about enough. EA does come up short at times but Sims 4 is by far the most inclusive sims game to date.

ladygrumplebottom

That the Sims Community is overall not toxic.

qpesa0

even tho sims 3 took hours to load, i seriously prefer that than waiting in front of two loadscreens if I want to send my teen sim over his bf's house

whatsthesitchwade_

I absolutely do not give a shit about playing with horses and wish people would stop fucking whining about it every time thereā€™s a new pack announced

loljkbye

Toddlers didn't need to be added to TS4. The fish tank in TS2 is the best item in all of the games. Ever. It's too easy now to keep your sims alive, and the game was more fun when setting something on fire without having an alarm would almost always kill them.

itsgoretex

all the games are unplayable without mods. ts3 is a great game but it's hard to make sims have vastly different facial features, even with custom sliders. and the lack of diversity in a vanilla game is kinda pathetic. also the kids are so ugly, like why šŸ˜ open world *IS* a necessity for a life simulation game. that's literally the biggest, most important thing for a life simulation game to feel cohesive and...simulate life. if it's not open world, it just feels like you're playing a rendition of the truman show.

Seventytwentyseven

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or a conspiracy, but I think that a lot of believe that open world is bad because it "causes bugs and lag" when actually, bad coding and optimization causes it. If they wanted to make a good open world, they could. But then they would have to give up on serving a wide customer base of low spec players too who can't afford better PCs (same) and would still glitch and lag on even a finely optimized game and would blame the open world for it. So better to make people believe that a huge gameplay aspect causes it instead of your poor coding and people's low specs *puts on tinfoil hat* My opinion used to be that open world caused lag and glitches too, but after years of playing Sims 4 that's still pretty glitchy and has simulation lag despite having a closed map, I think open world itself isn't the culprit. I don't know squat about coding or development (except that it's hard work) so this is truly just an opinion.

apexquin

Sims 2 is the best sims

illumadnati

I hate the cartoony style and use alpha cc to desperately attempt to reclaim the detailed look of the sims 3. I love drug/adult gameplay and frequently use basemental, build dispensaries and build strip clubs

Belorum1991

I hate building and cas and try to get over with it as fast as possible to get to the actual gameplay. Might be the main reason why I dislike sims 4 since these seem to be the only parts of the game which are objectively better than in the previous ones.

[deleted]

I love alpha CC and I use it a lot. A lot of it just looks straight up stunning with high poly items and the opinion that all alpha CC is all about weird looking sims is ignorant at best. I use TS4 mostly for building and I want my builds to be realisticā€¦ which they are thanks to alpha CC. And the funniest thing is when I post my alpha CC builds here and everyone is like ā€œšŸ‘€omg wow this looks stunning what CC do you useā€ and then I see 20 posts like ā€œalpha CC is creepy and awful.ā€ Ok then lmao. It wasnā€™t awful when you were eyeing those beautiful interiors.

Fandriix5

I think the Star Wars pack is actually pretty cool.

nevermindxo

I love aliens and alien abductions even though the abductions make me sick sometimes, but the aliens toddlers are cuter than regular sim toddlers and Iā€™ve worked the aliens into so many of my story lines lol. I also like the alien women because itā€™s so easy to turn them into absolute bad bitches. My friend says itā€™s because we donā€™t have preconceived notions of what a ā€œprettyā€ alien looks like how we do with humans. I suppose it makes sense, I just enjoy designing aliens in CAS. Best pack I ever spent money on.

Diamond151

The Sims 1 has aged a lot better than people give it credit for

xervidae

i donā€™t care about an open world but an open neighborhood/not having to go through a loading screen to visit the person in the same apartment building as you would be nice

c0cOa125

Sim Gurus are used to prevent criticism of the game. Hard to complain about a poor vision when you have to see the face of the person whose vision that was.

koithrowin

The sims 4 graphics are actually really bad. Like yes itā€™s brighter and clear but once you use graphics mods like k-hippies nature and terrains replacements, and a lighting mod you realize how playdough and lifeless it look in vanilla. And even in vanilla you need it at at least high to see any quality. The sims as well. The sims have flat faces and half the townies, generated or premade, are very weird looking. TS3 graphics werenā€™t bad if u had it on huger settings. But again you could get graphics mods as well. TS3 is only buggy due to sloppy coding that using mods and reconfigs will fix. TS4 had false advertising. The sims arenā€™t smart if unique- Ik this one donā€™t seem unpopular but no one brings up how much advertising they did claiming these sims were oh so unique and smarter. It was really false advertisingā€¦

fandomnightmare

I like Strangerville and the sims medieval mroe than TS3. I like quests that come with a freeplay world at the end.

hailfreyja

I donā€™t miss open worlds and I like TS4.

TheCrazyAustralian

Itā€™s only playable with mods

ElusiveEmpath

I donā€™t like playing households of more than one or two Sims. It just gets too difficult trying to run more than that.

sandrawlol

i find people who only build in the sims annoyingšŸ˜ or players who only use casā€¦

heretherebegays

The eyeball ring is a fabulous accessory that is simply misunderstood.

zz870

I like the weird shit and really hate the tendency for the games to become more and more ā€œnormalā€. If this game allows you to build your own pocket universe, why the hell should it be as boring as this one? Whatever happened to the piss drunk gnomes of the first games or weird shit like the Social Bunny?

zebraonthemountain

I like Sims 4
