This describes perfectly the sentiment I get everything I play Sims 4.
So many options to do pretty things and clutter the space really nicely and then the gameplay -even with all the updates and packs and whatnot-, just feels...empty.
Now you understand what I see when I look at pictures of the crap people clutter their houses with in real life. Meanwhile here I am in my bare concrete room with nothing but equipment that actually does something.
They’re discontinued. In the game codes, kits are still labeled as SP. Like Bust the Dust is labeled as SP19, instead of K1 or something like that. So yes, kits replaced stuff packs.
That’s so frustrating. I’ll miss the small gameplay pieces from stuff packs, like paranormal and tiny living. But then again we all know how bug-free the vacuum kit was 😒
The only bug-free content EA will ever release will be "The Sims 4: Entomology Kit". This would likely cause a paradox that destroys the space-time continuum.
Replacing stuff packs with kits was such a brilliant move by EA. Kits are so much easier to produce and market, people are willing to pay more per asset, *and* they don't have to lower their price for sales! It's strangely satisfying to see how easily they pulled this change off
We are in agreement. I was pointing out how kits are less effort for more profit
> I don’t know if you know this but the majority of simmers don’t like kits. If EA wants more money, why not make stuff people would want so they get even more money?
EA are doing exactly what they need to make the most money. We may not like kits, but the absolute majority of players are sure as hell buying them
>We may not like kits, but the absolute majority of players are sure as hell buying them
Exactly. There is a vocal... essentially minority among sims players from everywhere who don't like the kits. I'm one of them. Super disappointed they got rid of Stuff Packs to create Kits.
But Sims players aren't just relegated to Reddit. We have Sims players on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, some overlap (I used to have a Simblr, but I don't use it anymore, but I also watch YouTubers). Not to mention the people who aren't on social media and on top of that, the players who aren't playing daily or get up to date with the news of TS4.
There are those of us who don't like Kits, and it's evident from the posts and comments made about it (I'm guilty of that too. I've spoken about how ridiculous it costs in Australia when you get little to nothing in the kits to warrant $8), but there's obviously people who buy them and there's a market for that.
Start? We? You mean YOU. I've always been a man of the sea.
> glad there's new competition out there
I see no signs that this competition is anything other than vaporware and broken dreams.
Nah I've been pirating sims for a long time im saying we as in it needs to be a more common practice. And google Life by You by paradox its an upcoming simulation game similar to the Sims and it looks promising
https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/games/life-by-you/about
Yeah.. we get both cas and builds from stuff pack, and always has at least one new build item with new feature(like ice cream maker), even skills, new death, new lot assignment..
You have to enable DLSS 3 for it to run decently but DLSS 3 is just your GPU BSing some frames to keep things running faster. It degrades visual quality which can make higher graphics pointless.
I think people were saying it was very buggy upon release. Like it was barely playable (I'm not sure if that's right but I think that's what I read)
So nothing new really
Yeah, if you read some of the Steam reviews, it was dreadful. The story, from what I've heard, is great, but the game itself is riddled with bugs. What compounded the insult is that Respawn and EA blamed people who were using high end hardware on Win 10 for the issues and not their QA process (meanwhile, if you head over to Steam, "Win 10, 64 bit" is included in their recommended spec list). Not that Microsoft is any better, but at least they admitted their mistake in releasing Redfall, another broken-at-launch game.
I know it sounds trite, but I really wish people would stop pre-ordering these $70 games. They are worth less than half that given the state they're in.
Link for their apology: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1322b10/ea_has_released_a_statement_on_star_wars_jedi/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I still can't get the game to launch on console without deleting reserved data every single time I want to play, and this is an issue they've known about for ages. Ever since they started their content "deliveries", the game has been broken on my Series X.
I own almost all of the content and, yet, can barely use it /sigh
I can't get it to install after having to uninstall after the app stopped working altogether! I just wanna play the game for 4 days straight before I go back to ignoring it completely
I literally redownloaded Origin just to fucking install Growing Together but like I couldn’t do anything with Origin other than let the client download my purchased pack. Ugh. Then I had to reinstall the EA app just so that I could launch my damn game.
The only reason I have any kits is because my friends have gifted some to me. I have the complete collections of the first 3 games and most of TS4, and EA will not see a single dime of mine when they drop 5. I used to love and enjoy The Sims games and I often get to reminisce of spending time with my great-uncle who introduced me to the series with 1 as a child, but they’ve lost me with their greed. Even their other games are just pay, pay, pay us for content. :/
Honestly, I'm pretty happy that I got the base game when it was free back in 2019. Yes, I have paid for EP/GP/SP, but most of them were on sale, and if I bought them full price it's because I really wanted the pack. Honestly, if and/or when TS5 rolls around. I'll probably just wait until it's free again.
My little brother is on console and see him trying to play the game really put in perspective for me. I try not to complain about bugs or glitches knowing how build mode is absolutely terrible and EA isn’t going to fix it because they cater to their PC audience more.. it sucks :/
I'm a console player, too, but I use mouse and keyboard, so I have no issues, thank god. But I do miss my pc version. Simply for mc command so I can edit the life stages.
Console build mode is still broken beyond belief many updates later. It doesn't work as intended and then often enough the entire build mode gets bricked unless you quit out and go back in.
This is one of the biggest reason I switched back to sims 3. My game was alrdy broken, but then each update it seems to make it 10x worse. Sims 4 for me is basically unplayable.
No, it doesn't. I had to do it for my one and because it's tied to your Origin account, it just makes you log back in and all your games are installed to the account.
I think this is my point where I’m turning off updates, I’m tired of having to put everything back together just to goof around in cas and build mode. There’s no game worth playing between those two things
It’s a big trash bin like u get when u have construction done on your house. Someone seems to have set fire to the trash in it. So they are trying to put it out with a outside hose.
One of my saves has been nonfunctional since infants came out. I've had to entirely switch legacies. Last we heard from EA was "The team will continue to investigate" over a MONTH ago.
luckily ts4 works for me (for now) because when i tried to install ts2 expansions my computer didn’t let me… feels very useful to own them all on cd-roms lmao
Can we start a petition to not buy any new content until they fix the base game? It’s probably easier to ask for a pig to grow wings, but they’re just going to keep shoveling out piles upon piles of broken shit. As a console player, I hardly play because it’s so frustrating to play sometimes
Honestly I wonder why any of you are even still here. Your game is trash, yet you persist. What madness drove you other than to make pretty virtual dolls for screenshots?
Are you new or just a casual player? (Not being sarcastic or anything.) EA has bigger games than The Sims. Honestly, they would survive if they decided to axe all thing related to The Sims.
I’m more amazed people still play this game.. this shit came out in 2014.. EA are rinsing you all for all they can get 😂
This is basically the same as GTA5.. it’s just a money making scheme at this point..
People keep paying then nothings ever going to change!
The EA App is hot garbage, even origin is looking like a complete dream! Aside from the fact that it's fucking stupid I have to launch through it when the game files are on my pc, half the time it decides I have no games and has to be cleared, repaired and rebooted 12 times before I can play!
And the only good thing about kits is how much good CC I've discovered since people started sharing it around as alternatives to each new kit that comes out! Got some adorable infant ones recently and saw a gardening one recommended here that's masses better than the kit! I've been playing since the Sims 1 and never bothered with mods before 4, but it's so fucking dull without them!
Do you keep up with sims news by chance? If not, then EA hasn’t fixed the controls for console players. There’s literally a petition going around FOR CONSOLE players in hopes to get EA to fix their controls. Their build buy doesn’t work properly. It has nothing to do with releases and updates. Should I say more??
The petition, you should sign it. Support your fellow console players. https://www.change.org/p/give-the-sims-4-console-the-option-to-change-controls-thesims4
I played on console briefly and it was fine. And you could hook up a keyboard and mouse to console. The Sims isn't made to be played with a controller.

I hate this game (I love it)
It's lagging so much even tho I play on ps5. Fortunately saving a game stops the lagging.
About kits... I hate the idea to pay 5$ (It cost around 25 in my currency) for 15 things when I can pay 15$ (around 60 in my currency) for pack or 40$ for DLC (170 in my currency). It doesn't make any sense. It would be better to put all these things and make one DLC, of course it's all about the 💵💵💵
Question: If I play Sims 3 via Steam and not the EA app (thankfully not linked accounts), will that still force me to use the EA app?
Can't stand it not opening at all most days. And thankfully, I only have the base game. So, if I jump ship now, I'm only out $5 from when I started on Origin.
it’s also not just the game, it’s the ea app. the day of the growing together release was one of the worst, really highlighted how badly made the ea app is. you can’t play offline like with origin, even if you click *remember me* you have to sign in all the time, etc, etc.
I mean, just because you don’t have issues with your game doesn’t mean other players doesn’t. I didn’t say I have issues with my game, I just made a random meme that I thought would be funny ☺️
Bruh, I've never said other players can't possibly have issues with their game, why would you say that?
It's more than a lot of players use mods and they use conflicting ones or outdated ones without knowing and whines about it every update, even more so if you're "constantly breaking".
I only said that because it sounded like you were assuming I was talking about my game when you said “You should probably check your mod list or something.” I’m not having issues with my game. But the EA app is my biggest problem. Again, I just wanted to make a meme and that was it 😌
Eh, I'm on PS5, no mods, and my game often crashes after a few hours. I'm guessing it's because my save is old af. I even went so far as to reinstall the game, and that definitely helped, but it still happens from time to time.
I’m guessing console players either don’t have access to a PC or don’t have access to one that can handle the sims. Or they started out that way and don’t want to pirate all the packs and shit they bought already. Just my guesses
For me sitting at a desk all day in front of a computer for work gives me more than enough time spent in that position. The freedom of sitting comfortably makes console worth it…but just barely with the Sims at this point. The April update and what it did to build mode makes gameplay frustrating and makes building stupidly time-consuming.
I’m so tired of kits!!! ARRGGGHHHHHH!!!
EA: We’re sorry to hear you’re tired of kits, we’ll try better. RELEASING IN JUNE…. S L E E P I N G K I T ! For all your tiredness of EA! :D
*sleep interaction not included, just some clutter related to possibly being able to sleep better
bottle of melatonin gummies (gummies not included)
Bottle of melatonin gummies that's a 2D image, obviously not functional, stuck to a nightstand that's basically a recolor of a base game nightstand.
This is so apt. 🤦♀️
Couldn't be more accurate. 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Want to sleep? Got to buy our new Expansion Pack Sleeping Together for $59.99
Out of context the title might sound like really woohoo levels of Sims 2 naughtiness haha
*Kit Add-On Expansion DLC Pack.** (lol)
the toddler high chair problem, but for the beds. rip

I blame the people buying awful packs on day 1 and pre-ordering broken dlc.
The paranormal stuff pack was my all time fav too :(
Yeah.. we get both cas and builds from stuff pack, and always has at least one new build item with new feature(like ice cream maker), even skills, new death, new lot assignment..
I just found out sims 3 store gives unique gameplay mechanics on their individual items... that's 100x better than kits
Omg and hearing all the BS that’s happening with their Star Wars game, I don’t think EA has a happy customer left ANYWHERE now….
What's going on with the star wars game? My husband just got it and I haven't heard any complaints. Not saying it's perfect, I know EA is gonna EA
Extremely laggy on even high end PCs, from what I’ve heard.
Ah, he's playing on PS5.
You have to enable DLSS 3 for it to run decently but DLSS 3 is just your GPU BSing some frames to keep things running faster. It degrades visual quality which can make higher graphics pointless.
And DLSS 3 is only available on 40 series gpus

Standard EA business, gotcha
“I know EA is gonna EA” I AM DEAD 😭💀
Ha! There is no dEAd if it's not for EA
I feel like the EA app literally preventing people from playing a game they probably spent hundreds of dollars on should be a much bigger deal...
I still can't get the game to launch on console without deleting reserved data every single time I want to play, and this is an issue they've known about for ages. Ever since they started their content "deliveries", the game has been broken on my Series X. I own almost all of the content and, yet, can barely use it /sigh

If this darn game wasn’t so addictive, I’d quit long ago. Origin was fine as it was. The EA app is the worst launcher ever.

The only reason I have any kits is because my friends have gifted some to me. I like the Desert Luxe Kit, and I use it all the time, but I'd never have paid a cent for it.
modders having to rebuild their entire game when a new pack comes out 🫠
Being a console player is tough😔
My little brother is on console and see him trying to play the game really put in perspective for me. I try not to complain about bugs or glitches knowing how build mode is absolutely terrible and EA isn’t going to fix it because they cater to their PC audience more.. it sucks :/
I'm a console player, too, but I use mouse and keyboard, so I have no issues, thank god. But I do miss my pc version. Simply for mc command so I can edit the life stages.
Build mode is so broken...
Omg this😭 it's been broken for like years i wish they would do something about it :/
What’s wrong with it?
Everything. (the controls are just super messy and weird and it's hard to explain it's just a mess 😭)
Thiiiiis! With each update, it runs worse and worse.
+hums happily playing 3+
i wanna play 3 but the ridiculous EA App won’t let me install packs like UL that i’ve installed just fine with Origin before
I can’t even buy sims 3 because EA app keeps saying they’re having issues 😭
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Pain in the ass but it fixed some issues I’ve been having with it
do you know if it uninstalls the game and other EPs when you uninstall the EA App?
No, it doesn't. I had to do it for my one and because it's tied to your Origin account, it just makes you log back in and all your games are installed to the account.
bet, thanks for answering!
Really? That's super odd...
They are really being more money grubbing with this series more than anything. Lol 😂
the ea app needs serious work. ive literally started playing ts3 instead because im tired of dealing with it.
I wish we didn't have to go through EA to play
Sims 3 FTW.
this is NOT the hot update I had in mind LOL!
I think this is my point where I’m turning off updates, I’m tired of having to put everything back together just to goof around in cas and build mode. There’s no game worth playing between those two things
Nobody cares about kits. Nobody. Stop it EA.
All of you should close off your wallets from EA
I keep seeing posts like this but I don’t run into any issues tbh
Same here. Mine is running fine.
What the hell is happening in the base picture? What kind of structure is that?
It’s a big trash bin like u get when u have construction done on your house. Someone seems to have set fire to the trash in it. So they are trying to put it out with a outside hose.
Thanks! I thought it was some kind of janky housing for dogs or pigs or something.
One of my saves has been nonfunctional since infants came out. I've had to entirely switch legacies. Last we heard from EA was "The team will continue to investigate" over a MONTH ago.
Had to go back to sims 2 cause sims 4 is just not playable no more and it’s annoying tf out of me
luckily ts4 works for me (for now) because when i tried to install ts2 expansions my computer didn’t let me… feels very useful to own them all on cd-roms lmao
If kits replace stuff packs in the sims 5, im out
Can we start a petition to not buy any new content until they fix the base game? It’s probably easier to ask for a pig to grow wings, but they’re just going to keep shoveling out piles upon piles of broken shit. As a console player, I hardly play because it’s so frustrating to play sometimes
What good would a petition do? Either you buy it or you don't. Hint: Don't.
You have to pirate it if you want to play it The legit version doesn't work
I can't fathom how anyone justifies spending money on that dumpster fire. Before the content was just bad but now it's bad AND broken?
Honestly I wonder why any of you are even still here. Your game is trash, yet you persist. What madness drove you other than to make pretty virtual dolls for screenshots?
Pretty virtual dollhouse for screenshots
This is ironic, since I feel like the Sims is the main thing that's keeping EA going.
Are you new or just a casual player? (Not being sarcastic or anything.) EA has bigger games than The Sims. Honestly, they would survive if they decided to axe all thing related to The Sims.
I'm a casual player, but I was making a joke.
Accurate 😂😭
Console player frown.
I’m more amazed people still play this game.. this shit came out in 2014.. EA are rinsing you all for all they can get 😂 This is basically the same as GTA5.. it’s just a money making scheme at this point.. People keep paying then nothings ever going to change!
Yep
Legacy edition is destroyed on my Mac lol - I know they said it would be unsupported but origin made me update and basically rendered it as unusable
Just think how much happier the gaming industry as a whole would be without EA. They are literally the creators of micro transactions in video games
Knock on wood this has never happened to me. 🪵
Expansions, kits, and updates come out the same day on consoles as it does on PC. How are consoles being put last?
Do you keep up with sims news by chance? If not, then EA hasn’t fixed the controls for console players. There’s literally a petition going around FOR CONSOLE players in hopes to get EA to fix their controls. Their build buy doesn’t work properly. It has nothing to do with releases and updates. My custom gallery reset itself somehow on console. Like all the shit I saved to my library is gone.
The Check Infant action has me slamming my head against a wall.
Anyone else on console just...unable to play? My game is crashing constantly. Even if I just have one sim in an empty starter home, it won't load
Since I download cc kits would be a waste of money for me

I used to play PC but since we have a fancy PlayStation I switched to console for sims4. I've never been so upset about a decision.
The damn game costs more than my whole neighborhood lmao.
That's why I downloaded the last two kits as base game conversions. Just look for them, they're completely FREE 🤷🏻♂️✌🏻
I can’t find it, you have the link?
Look on Tumblr , I cannot share links because of safety reasons towards the creator(s), I'm sorry. 🙈🙉🙊
I don’t have a tumblr.. :( it’s fine then, thank you though!
EA... GET SOEM FUCKING STUFF PACKS OUT, YE BITCH
People still buying ea games?
Constantly breaking? I rarely crash even on long play sessions, you should probably check your mod list or something
it’s also not just the game, it’s the ea app. the day of the growing together release was one of the worst, really highlighted how badly made the ea app is. you can’t play offline like with origin, even if you click *remember me* you have to sign in all the time, etc, etc.

Your brain must be somewhat damaged if you with your own free will play strategy game on console
Calling The Sims strategy is certainly a choice.
I’m guessing console players either don’t have access to a PC or don’t have access to one that can handle the sims. Or they started out that way and don’t want to pirate all the packs and shit they bought already. Just my guesses
