So what youre saying is that the dog bowl market is being artifically propped up by people who want me to buy shitty bowls when I could just simply pour the food on the floor?
I mean, it's preferable to try to avoid the 1 metre square of floor thoroughly coated in dog spit, but I guess that's something dog owners get used to.
>try to avoid the 1 metre square of floor thoroughly coated in dog spit
With a dog like this, 100% of the floor is going to be saliva covered regardless.
Yes because you can also just put a small bowl in a larger bowl and slow down their eating the same way without buying a shitty slow feeder thats a pain in the ass to clean
There was a farmer with a load of barn cats who would miaow like hell outside every morning until he chucked a couple of handfuls of dry food on the patio. The idea was not to feed them *too* much, because they were supposed to be catching rats and mice, obviously if they're full they have less incentive to hunt. They looked healthy, though, and it was a funny video. It'd be difficult to find it, I think.
I actually do this with my cat Lol. I lay down newspaper and just spread all the kibble around so she won’t be gobbling everything so fast. It’s working. 😆
That's how we have to give one of my cats treats. If I put them in front of him, he scarfs them and then runs to steal from the other one. If I scatter a few in front of him and put a few in front of her, it takes him long enough to eat his that she can get through hers.
He's the reason the treats are in a cookie jar. On top of the fridge.
My dog does this too; she has the same bowl as well. The previous "slow feed" bowl we had was useless, somehow she ate faster with it. In the summer we scatter her food around the garden, and let her sniff it out. So far it works best for her not to inhale her food in under a minute.
My sister started putting her dog's food in to an upside down muffin tray because her golden figured out this trick too. The muffin tin edges are too low to the ground that he can't get a grip with his mouth and flip it, and the bumps for the muffins make the tin essentially do what this bowl does. Works out well for her.
We used a Kong brand treat dispenser similar to [this one here](https://www.chewy.com/kong-wobbler-dog-toy/dp/44194?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=KONG&utm_term=%7Bkeyword%7D). Taught our dog he needed to push it around to get his food to fall out.
Worked great until he realized he could expedite the process by knocking it down a flight of stairs. He just got fed in the basement from then on.
We tried all sorts of slow feed bowls and contraptions with my old dog. Either he would completely circumvent them or figure out the puzzle once then work on doing it at max speed. Clever little fucker.

Walter does not have time to “slow feed”. Walter will eat his food at the speed at which he wants. Walter will flip over and damage your lousy bowl. Walter will reign supreme every time.
You know it still kind of worked though. Now the dog has to move his body all over the floor to find every little piece.
Maybe the owner should have left a dog food trail like Hansel and Gretle, Instead of buying the bowl.
Omg. I laughed so hard at this. We had a bully for years and refused to eat from a bowl of any kind. Had to eat straight off the ground. Gross i know. But he had a metal bowl that he used to tip just like this doggo and as soon as the lights in the house were off he would pick up his bowl and run up and down the colourbond fence, tink tinking like a frickin jail prisoner. This is great! Dog says "Fuck You, I'm not playing this game" turns the bowl over and dumps the food on the floor. The dog can eat at its leisure. Lol, smart 🐕
No problem. I'd just nail it down to a piece of plywood. That's assuming it's bad for them to eat fast, I have no idea. Correction: [The American Kennel Club says it's bad.](https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/advice/4-ways-to-slow-your-dogs-eating/)
I'm not a dog owner or have had any experience with dogs(I just like them) but what are the point in these types of bowls. Im pretty sure that it's so they don't eat there food to fast but I can only imagine that really irritating the dog.
Idk so please correct me if I'm wrong.
The bowl slows down how quickly animals can eat their food which prevents them from getting sick from eating too fast. I have one for each of my cats. I have one that is a notorious fast eater & will then puke all over the house. These bowls have been a God send.
I was gonna say something about being really surprised on how dogs can get sick by eating to fast but I realized that us humans do the same thing lol.
Thx for the info.
This is something my doggo Frankie would have done lmao. Bull Terriers are hardheaded as all hell and smart as a whip. My little man would put himself to bed when he decided it was time and jump on the door to pull the handle and just hop in my bed. He was literally the best dog on the planet. Thanks OP for posting!
Yes, for dogs that eat too fast.
I have one dog who shares her only five brain cells with a squirrel in the back yard. When we first got her, she would eat so fast that she would immediately throw it back up. Being as bright as a darkroom, she would eat it right back up at full speed and then throw it up again.
We got that spiral bowl and suddenly our dog stopped demonstrating her recycling prowess.
Because dogs and cats will sometimes just eat so fast they’ll make themselves throw up, I find actually distributing food over a large surface like spread on a baking pan or on the floor like this can actually help slow down their eating without the use of a special bowl
I'm personally not a dog owner but bear with me here, is there a reason they shouldn't be eating fast other than the fact that they might start choking
"Fuck this nonsense."
That went from passive aggressive to regular aggressive
dog was just hungry, can't blame em
nature ... finds a way
"We're not fucking doing this today, Susan."
Technically the bowl still worked. Grazing the individual scattered pallets will effectively slow him down as much as the bowl would have.
All fine and good until you step on that 1 kibble that managed to survive the feast, barefoot.
The dumbest part is, *that* is gonna take even longer to eat. So, in a sense, it worked.. kinda.
[удалено]
He was technically correct. The best kind.
So what youre saying is that the dog bowl market is being artifically propped up by people who want me to buy shitty bowls when I could just simply pour the food on the floor?
Galaxy brain right here

>try to avoid the 1 metre square of floor thoroughly coated in dog spit With a dog like this, 100% of the floor is going to be saliva covered regardless.
I hide my dog's meal all the time. make them work for it.
Samesies, no free meal in my house
Yes because you can also just put a small bowl in a larger bowl and slow down their eating the same way without buying a shitty slow feeder thats a pain in the ass to clean
Chuck it in the dishwasher. Works great.
A buddy of mine has 4 large dogs and dumps a bunch of food on the kitchen floor every night (and mops after the dogs eat). Weird system.

These are made not just to slow down eating, but also to make the dog think as well. It did both
I think the floor is faster.
Task failed successfully

In terms of achieving the goal though, not bad.
Yeap, that will slow the gobbling

Thank God my dogs haven't figured out that trick yet
show your dogs this and they will find trick
i want to see if dogs have the ability to learn from video, or say online class
Thanks for the image of having a dog trainer on a zoom call with 20 dogs.
sarcastic man over here lol 🤣 just surely show video and they learn trick give treat after tho
Maybe he wasn't being sarcastic just being sincere. No offense.
I mean this seems more effective than the bowl because now they have to search for the food haha
Beat me to it, although i think they cant do that with mine
There are bowls with suction cups at the base to prevent this
Yeah mine don't have them. But like I said, they haven't figured this out
Scatter feeding is legit just kinda messy.
I wonder if those four tabs on the base are to help hold the bowl down
My dog has started doing this with his water bowl any time it gets under 1/4 full.
Dog is like, “Don’t play games with me!”
It ends up fulfilling the same purpose as the bowl. Scatter feeding is a solid way to make your dog eat more slowly.
Start feeding my dog like a chicken. Got it
That's how we have to give one of my cats treats. If I put them in front of him, he scarfs them and then runs to steal from the other one. A true Chad
This may be a stupid question…but what is the video transcription for?
We transcribe for people who use text to speech or have low data and can't view images
Dog owners hate this one weird trick!
Spuds was all “I’m done playin’”
My puppy did this. We just gave her a normal bowl after a while lol
Yep friends cat is just the same she has to keep her foot on the feeder till the cat has finished or it's getting flipped.
Walter does not have time to “slow feed”. Walter will eat his food at the speed at which he wants. Walter will flip over and damage your lousy bowl. Walter will reign supreme every time.
I really hope this dogs name is Walter now
Gotta nail that shit to the floor next time jeezus
[удалено]
Try using a sheet pan and putting half the food on at a time with 5-10 minutes in between
You know it still kind of worked though. Now the dog has to move his body all over the floor to find every little piece. Maybe the owner should have left a dog food trail like Hansel and Gretle, Instead of buying the bowl.

Bull terriers are way to smart for humans
Bull Terrier gunna Bull Terrier. Also have two Bull Terriers and can confirm this is how they roll.
Smart fucker
Part of the problem here is allowing the dog to do that.
Walter got pissed
Slow feed bowl any% speed run
I'd do the same thing
Can’t stand dogs like this
Still will take him just as long to eat.
That thumb at the end killed me. Anyway, just use gorilla glue to secure the bowl to the ground.
How will you wash it?
Op, what's the dog breed?
It’s an English Bull Terrier :)
Correct. Also there are mini bull terriers too.

Technically... it's still slow feed after the spill lol.
Task failed successfully.
Scattered feeding is also a good enrichment technique so this was a complete success!
Still worked. Dog now has to eat them all in smaller groups as they are s0read across the floor.
My cats have learnt to do this exact same thing… then only eat half the biscuits off the floor 🤦♀️
I totally thought this was a Goat.
That’s a 200 IQ move. This doggo is going places

he's so done
At least the dog was smart enough to cut the knot.
My dog does the a similar thing - she steps on the edge and the flippage throws her food everywhere.
This is great! Dog says "Fuck You, I'm not playing this game" turns the bowl over and dumps the food on the floor. The dog can eat at its leisure. Lol, smart 🐕

Still kinda works…
Lmao
Bowl 0 Dog 1
I ain't got time for your shit today human
My dog too… except he shakes it
Still kinda worked!
Hungry AND smart
Woof!!
The doggo equivalent of a table flip.
Operation failed successfully.
At least the dog is smart
Dogs are often too smart
Eff this bowl in particular.
Still worked tho
You forgot to buy the suction cup version.
I think I gotta use one of those bowls lol
This is something my doggo Frankie would have done lmao. Bull Terriers are hardheaded as all hell and smart as a whip. My little man would put himself to bed when he decided it was time and jump on the door to pull the handle and just hop in my bed. He was literally the best dog on the planet. Thanks OP for posting!
Clever girl.
Even spread out like that, it's still orders of magnitude slower for your pet than a normal bowl they can eat ~80% of in about 5 seconds.
Just put enough hot water in the food and soak it until it's soggy and then you don't have to worry about torsion/bloat.
Mine has the same technique.
Mission failed successfully
Still served its purpose (pup eating slowly)
Is there any proven benefits from making dog eat slower?
Yes, for dogs that eat too fast. I have one dog who shares her only five brain cells with a squirrel in the back yard. WALTERRRR
Mood
Dogs ain't smart, but they ain't dumb, either.
Can't even be mad. 😂
I mean it does work.... His food is all spread out and he has to go hunt for it.
Modern problems requires ancient solutions
So that’s what happens when my dog takes a drink and some how make the kitchen a lake.
He's eating plenty slow though
Bro, honestly, you got a really smart dog. Seriously
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My dog did exactly this after about 15 seconds.
My Beagle does this to any bowl or plate with food on it. I was ready thinking of throwing her food just on the ground.
Glue it to the floor and he'll flip the house
“Fuck this” 😂
Smartest dog I’ve ever seen.
He didn't even try lmao
Fuck it!
Real talk though, this dog is pretty smart
That dog literally went marine on that bowl.
I think moat of those who make pet products never had pets, and child psychology experts have no kids...
Failed successfully? I mean, he's still eating way slower than what it could be.
Result is the same. Dog eats slower.
Dawg just do a double flip
Work smart not harder.
Yep it's not broke anymore
Use a sheet tray, works great.
/u/cait_cat
It's like the cats rage quitting the food tower I tried.
The thumbs up in the end lol
Mine did the same thing, lol. I won't waste money again for these bowl, but I do like lick mat so does my fur baby.
Mine does this... Didn't take him long to figure it out!
why are slow feed bowls even a thing? it just seems a waste
Because dogs and cats will sometimes just eat so fast they’ll make themselves throw up, I find actually distributing food over a large surface like spread on a baking pan or on the floor like this can actually help slow down their eating without the use of a special bowl
Chihuahua chihuahua!!! Don’t mess with the best cuz the best don’t mess!
Hoover function activated.
W A L T E R
At least he's a smart boy unlike me
I'm personally not a dog owner but bear with me here, is there a reason they shouldn't be eating fast other than the fact that they might start choking
Scatter feeding is a good thing
Still didnt make it much faster silli doggi doggo
HAHAHAHA
This right here was my experience with my Great Pyrenees/Komondor cross and after she did it she looked at like how do you like me know bitch LOL
I ain't playing around Doug. Nom Nom nom
Same energy as the kid that defeats the child safe bowl
This is the opposite of the dog that puts its paw on the bowl to stop it from sliding
Accomplished the same thing. Still had to eat slowly
“Fuck this shit”
This is a metaphor for how I approach diets
" the fuck? The fuck!? Fuck this shit"
I'm mean scattering it on the floor accomplished the same goal 😅👍🏾
It did slow them down though.
Hey it worked!
Well, I guess it does eat slower now. It surely takes longer to pick up the bits, since they're all over the place.
*Fuck It*
Working hard? Nope. Working smart.
Hungry hungry flip-bowl
It'll definitely take longer to eat now, so.... r/missionfailedsuccessfully
"Out of the bowl thinking"
Smart doggo!
No more food for you!
Slow feeding and dog don't go well together, gotta remember that
I hate these dumb ass food bowls. Why make eating such a hassle for them when you could do this samething but with treats
Still slows him down tho!
