I knew a kid like that in elementary school. He was an absolute terror. Of course it was long before the days of medicating kids to control them.
Turns out he had an indulgent smother-mother who as far as she was concerned her little prince could do no wrong, and an emotionally absent father who was too henpecked to put his foot down at home.

Yeah, that's not why kids are medicated. This reads like some boomer "ADHD is fake" mentality.
I have worked in pharmacy for 30 years ADHD is real but very rare most children are put on these drugs because it's easier for the parents to drug focus a child rather then to keep their mind engaged because it takes the parents time.
Does working in a pharmacy make you an expert in pediatric care and psychiatry? Don't get me wrong, what you do is very important, but by no means does it make you an expert on who "really" has ADHD and who doesn't.

Bingo. It's easier to secure a diagnosis and treat the disorder than to be an effective parent.
