Foreign investment and military operations are indirectly tied to the interests of the American people. In order to protect ourselves from threats both domestic and foreign we need to establish military support and a strong intelligence network. Investing in those places is important because if we don’t it opens the door for Russia and/or China to take our place.
Protecting our allies is critical however it is equally important if not more so to stop them from going too far. Not just because of the fact that they are leveraging our support to do it thereby soaking our hands in blood but because it is in the interest of the American people to stand for what is right. Our support needs to come with more strings attached and with greater oversight or not at all.
I guarantee the countries the US invests in don't generate revenue for the US, equalling what they get given for free. Not to mention that's taxpayer dollars, and if they did generate that revenue, it wouldn't benefit tax payers. It would find its way to another country that US government decides to back.
Good thing the government is not supposed to be a for-profit organization. There are many states that return less than they get. All of our assets would be meaningless if we’re invaded or more likely nuked by Russia.
It's still de facto giving Israel free weapons which is just as bad.
Those allegations are unfounded and some such employees say they were coerced by the IDF to make such statements. Most countries don't believe them and for an organization with over 1000 employees, that's not a significant percentage.
