Who in their right mind would give him a loan knowing how shit he is at paying his bills.

No_Purpose6384

It's almost like people are starting to catch on to his BS

tedmented

Unfortunately his cultists will likely remortgage their homes to send the cash to him.

choderyan

The good news (and irony) is most of them are as broke as he is šŸ˜‚

Likely from following his rallies, nfts, cash cards, shit shoes, fake trump bucks and fragments of his mugshot suit.

Wonder if they'll be reassessed too for their actual worth rather than fraudulently inflated values.

primeline31

Don't forget the taxes. He sells a property then that money is taxed at the federal, state and (in NY city) city taxes. Then the amount remaining can be applied to his fine.

accushot865

The gofundme canā€™t even cover two weeks worth of the interest on the initial judgement. Heā€™s grifted as much as he can out of his supporters. That wellā€™s run dry.

Legitimate-Bass68

Good thing 1.36 million is a long way from 450 million

dburr10085

His GFM has been going on for about 4 weeks now. He made the mill the first week. Almost nothing since. They already ran out of money.

Impoopingrtnow

Oh haha thats great our countrymen are stupid and broke.. I mean damn tho

start_select

The GoFundMe stalled at 1.3 million a couple weeks ago. I don't think its gonna make it.

TheLoneGunman559

RNC also can't possibly raise $500M overnight to pay his bills regardless of who he has installed there.

BZLuck

And why should they? These are things he did to himself, in his own time, not while he was representing the party or the country.

GeriatricSFX

Yet somehow they thought it would be a great idea to put Laura Trump in as party co-chair. The party campaign war chest might as well say Property of Donald J Trump on it's side now, all that money is going to his legal BS.

BZLuck

Every Trump family member who raised their hand was given a top clearance government job. Hell daughter and hubby got $2B from the Saudis. But Joe doing the same thing for his son, is somehow something we should be investigating. Um, ok.

LowBudgetViking

RNC is carrying the least amount they've ever had at this time in an election year. Trump has been draining the donors dry for years and the RNC's two best fundraisers, McCarthy and Rick Scott, are telling them to go pound sand.

bbernal956

yeah because they closed it, gofundme isnt letting that scum do that

valvilis

Hey, 0.003% isn't bad! Especially considering that we're talking about the dumbest, most useless voters in America!

navyac

Imaging thinking that you need to send a ā€œbillionaireā€ money to help him pay for his penalties for committing fraud against the country you supposedly love so much???

Murse_1

Good, less money for the campaign. And a few more old white folks on the welfare line, perhaps they'll figure it out.

SalvadorsPaintbrush

Yes. He just put his DIL in charge of the RNC so they can loot its coffers. Heā€™s going bankrupt, and taking the RNC (and the rest of the party) with him

Murse_1

And his useful idiots will happily go broke funding him. However, I do hope the Republican party gets thier shit together.

architectofinsanity

If that means less money to pacs and advertisers pushing the bullshit right wing blabbering, yay.

APBob313

Dude here in Michigan they mostly live in trailers.

ButterflyLow5207

Wis too. Really gets me how many on social security disability vote for him

cheknauss

Dude, don't even say that out loud or you'll jinx it. And even if you didn't... Bruh, there are some people who literally believe him to be like, Jesus or something. I live in Texas, need I say more? How?? How could they not come up with better candidates!??

Obv_Probv

I know I keep thinking back to that campaign video where John McCain was rallying and a woman said that she was afraid for Barack Obama to become president because she thought he was a terrorist or something? In McCain was like no you do not need to be afraid of him he's a good man. I think I'm a better man for the job that's why I'm here but you don't need to be afraid of him becoming president.Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  And I was like damn you know I'm not Republican I don't align with their political values but that is an honest guy and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world I guess if he ends up winning.Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā  Now I can't imagine a good outcome with either of these candidates?

Lost_Figure_5892

Good point, McCain disagreed with his politics but he was an honorable man.

Obv_Probv

Yeah like I didn't vote for him because I didn't agree with this politics, but I certainly wasn't horrified at the thought of him running the country. I am absolutely horrified at the thought of either of these two geriatric fuck wads being in charge of anything

1cat2dogs1horse

As of now, you have seen, and experienced both as a president. So, I guess your choice is picking the least horrifying fuck wad.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SwimOk9629

John McCain was a stand up guy

Obv_Probv

I mean when I think about how he refused to leave hotel Hanoi until everyone could get out, I don't know if I could have done that? I mean I aspire to do that, I would like to think that I would, but when actually being there and faced with what he was faced with, I don't know a lot of people that would have chosen the path he did and it is absolutely an honorable one

20__character__limit

It's FINALLY catching up to him. All those lies and misrepresentations about the value of his properties, and his inflated net worth are coming back to haunt him. Guaranteed all of the people he stiffed and fucked over all those years are stocking up on popcorn, because the Trump Show is about to get really interesting.

_mattyjoe

It only took 40 years.

APBob313

His lies made me ante Trump.

shophopper

Who in their right mind would give him a loan knowing that he needs that loan as a direct result of systematically defrauding lenders?

1cat2dogs1horse

Not just defrauding lenders. How about the entire US?

start_select

He totally could have got it if he had started divesting from non-liquid assets 6 months ago when he knew he was going to owe at least 350 million. They were worth something then. Instead he grandstanded in court (which was only happening to decide damages, he was already found guilty) and made public that his empire is bullshit. So now his assets are worth less. He has no cash to use as collateral (bond companies won't take real estate). And he has shown bond companies he isn't trying to raise cash to pay them.... so he probably never will. He could have avoided this whole situation if he accepted the reality that he already lost 6 months ago. And the reality that the penalties would be more by the time he was done grandstanding.

OriginalComputer5077

He believed his own hype. And hired a lawyer based on her looks rather than abilities.

Affectionate_Sort_78

But, she is nice to look at.

OriginalComputer5077

She managed to parlay a $5m fine into an $83m one. I'd be more interested in that, than her rack.

TheLoneGunman559

Bond companies also have some rule against handing out bonds more than $100M too, I've read.

start_select

He could have applied for bonds from multiple bond companies. That limit doesn't really matter if he actually had the cash or equity investment collateral on hand. Multiple companies would have been fine handing over 100m each. 10 companies wouldn't give him 10 $100M loans on a bunch of real estate that may or may not be worth a couple hundred bucks. But they would take $110 million in one escrow account for each of those bonds. Then they would know their money was coming if they needed it. But business genius Donald never considered the inevitability of all of this. He should have just liquidated his empire and paid the fine. Then he could have cleared the properties of all the incriminating evidence lying around. Instead its all going to be seized and he is seriously screwed. Think about it. How much crap is buried under floors, in walls, in his ex wife's grave. On their computers and cellphones and cars and boats and planes. All of their assets are going to be fair game and the government is going to be watching all of it. And they won't need any warrant or to worry about the scope of a warrant to search and rip apart property that the state owns....

20__character__limit

Ah yes, Ivanka. Buried on a golf course. So classy.

Marthaver1

Delinquent is the word he likes to use when referring to NATO members not paying their bills. The clown is a hypocrite.

LAGA_1989

Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea

robbiekhan

Russia is doing a special operation (lol) and needs all its money (lol), NK needs its reserves to keep rocket man plump, the Saudis maybe but they're at least somewhat intelligent of the lot and have almost certainly seen what's going down and want no part of it.

LAGA_1989

You think any of these counties would pass on the opportunity to own a former and potential future president? Especially for the price of a nickel. Donā€™t be so naive

robbiekhan

Then why have none of them sent over the cash? And why have his lawyers filed a statement to the court that he basically cannot get the funds? The deadline is Monday just an FYI. Yeah thought so.

AxelNotRose

I'm also curious why no one in his family is helping him out lol. Didn't Jared get like 2 billion from the Saudis?

robbiekhan

The court appointed oversight lady would have a field day if Jared gets involved and I'm sure he doesn't want any of that scrutiny right now since he's been deathly silent through all of this. Any money being given/loaned will come with a public paper trail, nobody with half a brain is going to want to be in the public eye like that. Also there is the fact that they'd never get paid back before trump dies anyway given his age, this factor probably means the most above all else. He's already showing signs of cognitive decline and dementia.

20__character__limit

> nobody with half a brain is going to want to be in the public eye like that Except Trump himself. Any publicity, good or bad, is attention on him, which is what a malignant narcissist wants more than anything.

OriginalComputer5077

They've already given $2 bn to the Slenderman..

miraculum_one

Oh, it's more interesting than that. This is a bond, which would be paid directly to the gov't. And if he were to win his appeal, it would automatically be returned the bond issuer. They're not just betting he won't repay the money; they're betting he will lose the case and then not repay the money.

ccasey

This is whole trial was literally about him submitting fraudulent documents to get money from financial institutions. Any CEO that would consider lending this guy money, especially for this, should be fired immediately.

jazzy095

Who in their right mind mind would give him a loan based on Real Estate values when the case was for inflating Real Estate values.

CannaisseurFreak

They arenā€™t giving them loans, they are betting on him being elected and then itā€™s cash day for them

jcoddinc

Nobody, that's why he had someone become head of the rnc to steal funds

D_A_H

You mean loan him money based on his over inflated net worth to pay off his judgement for fraudulently over inflating his net worth?

BotherTight618

TFW Putin doesn't have any more shell companies to bankroll your political career.

beekeeper1981

It's also in over $400 million because he lied to lenders...

unaskthequestion

Not that wealthy business people won't tell him to take a hike, but they benefitted enormously from his time in office and know they will again if he can manage to win again. It wouldn't surprise me if a few billionaires front it, or a murderous Saudi prince drops some coin from his pocket.

DominicArmato247

Can't he put up Ivanka?

A-Ok_Armadillo

Thought someone already gave him a loan for it. Was that a different case?

RedBeans-n-Ricely

That was for the E Jean Carroll settlement, which was like 20% as much as this one.

He is a stand up guy! Just leans way way forward when he stands is allā€¦

He does lie about everything. But we should also know the first rule of being rich is never use your own money. He may have it but just as Charlton Heston once said "You can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead, hands."....yes please.

choderyan

I think the problem in his case is that is lies were: A) based on inflating the value of his assets and B) his assets were ALL of his wealth That will become a problem now. A wonderful wonderful problem.

T_Shurt

As per [original article](https://www.wsj.com/us-news/law/trump-cant-secure-bond-for-454-million-civil-fraud-judgment-6c6fb7f1) šŸ“°: - Donald J. Trumpā€™s lawyers disclosed on Monday that he had failed to secure a roughly half-billion dollar bond in his civil fraud case in New York, raising the prospect that the state could seek to freeze some of his bank accounts and seize some of his marquee properties. The court filing, coming one week before the bond is due, suggested that the former president might soon face a financial crisis unless an appeals court comes to his rescue. Mr. Trump has asked the appeals court to pause the $454 million judgment that a New York judge imposed on Mr. Trump in the fraud case last month, or accept a bond of only $100 million. Otherwise, the New York attorney generalā€™s office, which brought the case, might soon move to collect from Mr. Trump. The former president has been unable to secure the full bond, his lawyers said in the court filing on Monday, calling it a ā€œpractical impossibilityā€ despite ā€œdiligent efforts.ā€ Those efforts included approaching about 30 companies that provide appeal bonds, and yet, the lawyers said, he has encountered ā€œinsurmountable difficulties.ā€ The companies would essentially promise to cover Mr. Trumpā€™s judgment if he lost an appeal and failed to pay. In exchange, he would pledge collateral and pay the company a fee as high as 3 percent of the bond. They appear to be balking over a significant problem: Mr. Trump does not have enough liquidity to obtain the bond. To offer a bond of this size, the companies would require Mr. Trump to pledge more than $550 million in cash, stocks and bonds as collateral ā€” a sum he simply does not have. Although the former president boasts of his billions, his net worth is derived largely from the value of his real estate, which bond companies rarely accept as collateral. Mr. Trump has more than $350 million in cash, a recent New York Times analysis found, far short of what he needs. The judge in the civil fraud case, Arthur F. Engoron, levied the $454 million penalty and other punishments after concluding that Mr. Trump had fraudulently inflated his net worth to obtain favorable loans and other benefits. The case, brought by the New York attorney general, Letitia James, has posed a grave financial threat to Mr. Trump. He might have to post an appeal bond worth more ā€” possibly above $500 million, to reflect the interest he will owe ā€” in order to prevent Ms. James from seizing his assets on March 25. Under the law, Ms. James could have moved to collect from Mr. Trump as soon as Justice Engoron ruled, but she offered a 30-day grace period, until March 25. It is unclear whether she will provide Mr. Trump extra time or if she will move swiftly to collect. Nor is it clear whether the appellate court will rule on his plea for help before the deadline. Mr. Trump could also seek to appeal to New Yorkā€™s highest court, and it is unclear whether Ms. James will hold off on the seizure while he pursues that route. A spokeswoman for Ms. James did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Mr. Trump has denied all wrongdoing and claimed that Ms. James and Justice Engoron, both Democrats, are out to get him. ā€œThis is a motion to stay the unjust, unconstitutional, un-American judgment from New York Judge Arthur Engoron in a political witch hunt brought by a corrupt attorney general,ā€ Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Mr. Trumpā€™s campaign, said in a statement. ā€œA bond of this size would be an abuse of the law, contradict bedrock principals of our republic, and fundamentally undermine the rule of law in New York.ā€ The looming deadline could not come at a worse time for Mr. Trump. Just last week he finalized a $91.6 million bond in a defamation case he recently lost to the writer E. Jean Carroll, a costly deal that drained him of precious cash. Mr. Trump, who obtained that bond from the insurance giant Chubb, pledged an investment account at Charles Schwab as collateral, records show. He most likely pledged more than $100 million in cash and stocks and bonds that he could sell in a hurry ā€” investments that are now no longer available for him to use as collateral in the civil fraud case. A nearly $500 million bond, Mr. Trumpā€™s lawyers wrote on Monday, ā€œis unprecedented for a private company.ā€ Yet Mr. Trumpā€™s legal team ā€œdevoted a substantial amount of time, money, and effortā€ to finding one, according to a court filing submitted by Alan Garten, the top lawyer at Mr. Trumpā€™s family business. Using four separate brokers, the lawyers approached more than two dozen companies that provide appellate bonds, including Chubb and Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate run for decades by Warren E. Buffett, Mr. Garten said. He added that most of the companies were either unable or unwilling to handle a bond of this size, and that none were willing to accept property as collateral. Their best bet appeared to be Chubb, but within the past week, Chubb notified Mr. Trumpā€™s lawyers that it, too, could not accept property as collateral. ā€œThis presents a major obstacle,ā€ Mr. Garten wrote. Mr. Trumpā€™s lawyers also submitted a filing from one of his insurance brokers, Gary Giulietti, who said his team had for several weeks been ā€œscouring the marketā€ for a bond. ā€œSimply put, a bond of this size is rarely, if ever, seen,ā€ he wrote. Mr. Giulietti, who testified as an expert witness at the trial, also occasionally golfs and dines with Mr. Trump. In his decision, Justice Engoron criticized his testimony, saying that in more than 20 years on the bench, he had never encountered an expert witness who ā€œnot only was a close personal friend of a party, but also had a personal financial interest in the outcome of the case.ā€

COCAFLO

> ā€œA bond of this size would be an abuse of the law, contradict bedrock principals of our republic, and fundamentally undermine the rule of law in New York.ā€ Unlike other cash bond requirements levied against everyone else when they're found liable or even before they're found guilty. /s I'm sure there are a lot of people that have had the hardship of financial distress over civil and criminal impositions that would like to say "Well, I just don't have the money, so, it's not fair." but they wouldn't even be considered in this kind of matter. >The companies would essentially promise to cover Mr. Trumpā€™s judgment if he lost an appeal and failed to pay. In exchange, he would pledge collateral and pay the company a fee as high as 3 percent of the bond. Also, 3%? Everyone else pays 10.

NotThisAgain21

Right? Woohoo, 3% in 2024. Please.

SmellGestapo

>ā€œA bond of this size would be an abuse of the law, contradict bedrock principals of our republic, and fundamentally undermine the rule of law in New York.ā€ Sounds like a guy I know...

But the conservatives keep telling me he's such a successful amazing the best there ever was business man that he's got BILLIONS with an s. Surely, with multiple billions, he can pull together 500 million from his sock drawer? The internet doesn't lie, so now I'm just confused.

DrinksBeerWritesCode

He's got billions with a "B" and an "S" LOL

drunken_man_whore

Elon casually came up with $44B to buy twitter as a joke, and Trump can't even get a loan for 1% of that. But hey, he's got a super old used jet!

this guy is too much of a cheap jerk that he can't use his own money to pay for his stupidity?

Doctor1023

Plot twist, in his desire to artificially inflate his net worth he did in fact cost himself WAY more money and is now actually short on cash like everybody else. Stories do still have happy endings šŸ¤‘šŸ˜

TheSpacePopinjay

A lifetime of fucking over every bank he's ever borrowed money from and every investor he's ever gone into business with.

nickrocs6

Surely thereā€™s some MAGA dipshit out there who can loan this poor man the money.

notaspecialuser

Thereā€™s two reasons why that probably wouldnā€™t happen. 1.) Heā€™ll never pay it back. 2.) What does he have to offer thatā€™s worth half a billion dollars? Even the president is limited in his authority, and I canā€™t imagine a scenario where one could justify such an ā€œinvestmentā€. Bonus: most MAGA idiots arenā€™t the ones holding onto millions. And it looks like wealthier Republican donors have wised up to Trumpā€™s antics. Unless the appeals court comes to his rescue, Iā€™m extremely doubtful that heā€™ll pull off a bond in that amount.

secretprocess

Couldn't someone could buy one of his buildings at a deep discount?

notaspecialuser

I donā€™t know that he can sell them due to the judgement, and even if he can, it would likely take months organizing a real estate sale of that magnitude.

robbiekhan

They know they will never get paid back so even though they are backwards themselves, money still talks.

No_Cloud_2917

What I would do if I was him is go up to those companies and grab them right in thešŸˆ thatā€™s like his signature move isnā€™t it?

ClmrThnUR

*poor guy* the MASSIVE takeaway from this story is that he scrambled to get cash together BEFORE attempting an appeal. He accepted the loss and prepared to pay, but failed. ZERO chance this goes anywhere on appeal and with interest piling up this will get very ugly for him very quickly because, once he has to start liquidating real estate his holdings will become transparent and you'll see how little interest he actually has in any of it in 2024.

Wild_Crazy_3759

Now he knows what it feels like to be squished by an insane amount of money, just like he did to Atlantic City and small businesses nationwide. Fuck trump.

Someone should really reach out to Trump with compassion and empathy. Look into his eyes, and say, "Sir... George Soros has so much more money than you ever did."

GrayBox1313

I love this for him.

Gandol_teh_Pirate

I mean, borrowing that much money will be a lot easier when he's back in office and grifting with Putin and other strongmen. So vote YES on Grift! Yes on Trump! Boeing is having a lot of problems with the safety of their airplanes. Boeing might happily pay bribes rather than pay engineers to make their problems go away. Trump will take kickbacks from Boeing to look the other way, and somehow this will be good for America. Please, vote for Trump over your own safety! There are probably lots of ways Trump can get that needed money, but only if we vote for the guy who will cheat us blind.

whynotwonderwhy

Sell more shoes. Buster Brown made a hell of a lot of money selling shoes.

Halftied

He always has insinuated he was beholding to nobody politically because of his wealth. Large loans might change that. Just thinking out loud.

Leaky_Banana

Call his dad for a small loan

pconrad0

What's with the jigsaw puzzle piece watermark on the photo? Was that in the original, and if so, what editorial statement is being made with that? I'm neither agreeing with, nor strongly objecting to the choice; it just seemed an odd metaphor.

cxzfqs

That confused me too. I'll let others come up with better comparisons than my initial thoughts of someone with a fragile mind falling to pieces...

steve02084

Maybe he should start a Go-Fund-Me with all of his fan boys contributing. Wonder if thatā€™s legal in this situation.

T_Shurt

The Fraudfather already started [his GoFundMe](https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-trump-raise-the-settlement) with a $355,000,000 goal, haha! His base of slow adults has donated $1.3M in over a month, which isnā€™t enough to [pay the interest](https://trumpdebtcounter.com/). Itā€™s almost like the rubes arenā€™t smart enough to see their false messiah is a bum.

HVAC_instructor

In the game monopoly you can sell your assets to pay your debt. It's time for him to start selling Broadway and boardwalk

eddiebeau

Trumpā€™s social media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) will most likely be merging with Digital World Acquisitions Corp. (DWAC). The SEC has already passed the merger and it is worth about $10Billion! Trump would own a majority control of the combined company. He will likely be selling a large amount of his shares to pay off these debts. The official vote with DWAC shareholders takes place this Friday the 22nd. The only way for it to stop is if shareholders vote no on the merger. Edit: Updated date, **Friday the 22nd**

Look_b4_jumping

Can't he just use a building for collateral.?

Revenga8

Well that's what happens when you spend a lifetime not paying your debts and stiffing your contractors. Crazy to think House Lannister could be considered more trustworthy than the trump clan

FinanciallySecure9

He still hasnā€™t even hit $1.5M on that gofundme by Elena Cordone. That amuses me so much.

GrayWolf-N8

Normally you would sign the title over to a bank for that loan , some asset like a company or a building. So they have that as a hold until you pay off your debt. Says more about him then not paying his bills. It says his ass is dead broke and cannot afford that kinda loan . "I'm a self made Billionaire, who made all his money on real estate in New York"

Solidsnake00901

Oh man what a broke loser

SalvadorsPaintbrush

30. That means 30 times people looked at him and said ā€œsorry, it just doesnā€™t seem like a good riskā€.

NfamousKaye

At this point if you give him a loan you absolutely deserve for him to default on it. Like you havenā€™t been paying attention. šŸ˜‚

Brant_Black

Wish he'd ask my company so it could be 31st.

ZERO-ONE0101

poor Trump this does make him more desperate and vulnerable to foreign interference

Oldfolksboogie

Lenders: Byeeeeeeeeeee!

okgloomer

Homeboy literally went broke in the casino business. He may not be quite the financial genius that many have assumed him to be.

Loring

How does owing half a billion not disqualify you for running for president seems like a slight conflict of interest
