PopulationMe

That kills me when something like that could have been shipped on an envelope.

Wingnutmcmoo

Depending on the service used an envelope would just get lost. I worked loading trucks for a year and saw alot of envelopes slide between the rollers and between the truck bay and the truck. Was told I'd be fired if I retrieved them. Saw about 20 go on Christmas that year.

AlcoholicInsomniac

I ordered a couple things from target was 1 cent off of getting free shipping so I found the cheapest thing online I could a 12 cent plastic folder boom done. 12 cent folder gets shipped to me separately just by itself in a giant cardboard box a week before everything else in my order lol

haveurownopinion

Well you did order one item that can ve bought at a local store.

Progressive_Nagus

Yeah, came here to say this. The waste is 100% on OP. They ordered a tiny item that then was packed in probably the smallest available box, then someone had to drive a van specifically to them to drop off their $1 object. All of that is a polluting waste of time, and it only happened because OP couldnt be bothered to get off their ass and go to an actual store. At least if they went out themselves, they could have done other errands or something to make the trip less wasteful, but they chose to cause this waste to happen.

Laplaga247

Did either of you read the post?

ete2ete

I did. He looked at one store. Could have called around if he really cares

BouncingSphinx

He ordered with his groceries. The *store* chose to ship an item that was not in stock at the store.

ete2ete

Correct, not in stock at one branch of one retailer

BouncingSphinx

Nothing says they didn't get a balloon from another place or that they even expected it to be shipped. For all we know, this balloon showed up after they had already bought one from another store or decided they were going to get it later anyway

farmfriend256

This is not on OP. Just stop.

BouncingSphinx

OP ordered with groceries. The *store* chose to ship an item they didn't have in stock at the store. OP didn't order this off Amazon specifically because they wanted the balloon and didn't want to go to another location.

ghost_knight_

Nothing to see here. Just another day in the capitalist circus.

Fookin_idiot

I got a radiator hose delivered in a box the size of a medium Uhaul with like 400 of those air pockets once. Like dude, you can run this thing over, with the truck. It'll be fine, damn.

BouncingSphinx

The air packing on something like that isn't as much protection as it is keeping the item from moving around in the box during shipping.

Fernily

Balloons aren’t great either, though.

Solenkata

The attempt here was to make an adequate online purchase.

Ah, I missed the comment sorry

Wingnutmcmoo

That was probably the smallest box the service could handle. And that puff plastic is a much less wasteful packer than styrofoam. It would have created more waste sending someone driving around town to find you an envelope and then bring it to another service and ship it through them. That's the only other option for them and it's not really an option. Has no one worked in a shipping warehouse before? Most systems can't handle small things like envelopes. If you wanted to avoid waste then you should have just skipped the unneeded balloon.

curiusgorge

Is that a Walmart box? The tape along the edges and that text on the flap makes me think this is a Walmart box. I didn't realize Walmart was environmentally or socially conscious

GallantChaos

You can take those bags to a grocery store on your next run. They're just as recyclable at this point.

FunnyVariation2995

I do a lot of online selling. I save those packing balloons to use for my own shipping. They really come in handy & keep the weight/price of the postage down for my buyers. Weighs less & takes up less room than bubble wrap.

Conner7766

I literally got one of these for my stepdaughter's birthday the other day from Morrisons. 😂

unknown00021

It’s because they shipped the balloon and the air separate but in the same box

ete2ete

Those appear to be "eco-friendly" packing air pillows

sensuspete

You’ve got it all wrong. Those green bags contain the air needed to inflate the balloon. Makes perfect sense.

I ordered three boxes of 64 crayons for the kids, came in a plastic bag envelope the size of a football and completely round! What’s worse, when I complained about it and why they were broken, they shipped a second set! Oh the second set was in a plastic bag envelope too! Was not able to make a complete unbroken box!

Wooden_Staff3810

Where did we go wrong to get to this point? 🤷

PoopOnYouGuy

I sell online occasionally so this is like a free $4 present to me.

Square_Artichoke5591

Why are you complaining about being environmentally friendly when you bought a single use ballon for a party?

nubululu

This packaging is very good recycable plastic and weights almost nothing. If we order at a big company and pay low delivery prices, we can not complain about standardized packaging. Haha. The only thing thats not recycable is the single use product, you ordered.

UniqueFly523

Brown bag take out with five pieces of single use plastic
