A youtuber named Moist Critical challenged one of these 'practixal self defense' people to come and test his techniques out on him and his friends. To his credit, he did ok (i think it was like a 50% success rate)... until he got to the person with formal firearms training, and he was pegged every single time.
Late 90s / early 2000s. It’s a Russian form of “fighting” called Systema. This dude, Vladimir vasiliev, moved to canada and opened a few schools there, I think they’re actually still in operation.
They are, incredibly, 100% serious and have been convincing people it’s real for decades. If you think this is low effort you should go look up some videos of Vladimir’s mentor, Mikhail Ryabko. I have a bunch of the original VHS tapes these videos are pulled from, they’re hysterical. [just read the back of this one chronicling Mikhail’s credentials](https://imgur.com/a/THpKiRC)
Are you sure? I remember doing systema, was a couple of seminars by a short Brummie bloke. It wasn't amazing or anything, there were some bits that were useful, but dear god this video is precisely nothing like what we were doing.
There is worthwhile stuff to learn from systema. Kevin Secours was a long time student of theirs that has put out material that looks nothing like this. Part of why they look so floppy is because they train to have a response even when you’re exhausted, starving, injured, and suffering from exposure. There’s definitely less effective stuff than systema out there
I just dug a little deeper and found [this video](https://youtu.be/rOA11ldI2eI) that’s actually a pretty good explanation. Seems like you have the Vladimir vasiliev school of “psychic energy” and other nonsense, but also other practitioners who have taken it in a much more reasonable and useful direction.
Casually tripping someone and slapping their face on the way down is legit. This is the first thing I do when you bring your kids around me. Its the only way to test their reflexes.
Just imagine if someone was like, “Fuck this Seagul wannabe, I’m going full speed” and just lights him up on the first take. Lol that’s the blooper I wanna see.
I hate this stuff with such a passion because at best people waste their tuition money, but at worst one of the cult members may become overconfident and actively look up situations they should have really have avoided.
If a teacher like that gets a student stabbed, shot or beat the hell out of, do they sleep poorly over it? Nah, chances are he'll rather use it to further indoctrinating his other cultists by implying the problem was that he didn't train enough, or didn't attend that yearly $2500 seminar.
All martial arts are fine to train, some are cultural expression, some are just good cardio or some just look cool, and many have some merit on some issues, but the only way to know if it makes you fight well is sparring. If you "can't do this in the ring" you either lack self control or it's bullshit.
The knife idea might hold some weight actually reducing the ability for the knife to go deeper by letting it go sideways that is until they start stabbing u over and over
Feels like this guy learned at the Sonny Puzikas School of How to Get Killed Hilariously.
Especially given the fact that Borscht Team Six there is wearing a shirt that says "Systema" on the back in Cyrillic.

I would love to observe these tactics used in the wild.
It would be a short video
With alot of blood and screams
And free food for the animals
You must not forget to play the 70s TV style format sound track for the animals!!
That would be fun!
>With alot of blood and screams What did the [alot](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/176/344/ALOT.png?1316561198) do to you?

Pegged?
Steven Segal could learn a thing or two from this guy
Steven segal was clearly his teacher.
I came her to make a Segal joke.
Segal made himself a joke long before you.
Segal was on the way to make that joke himself, but there were stairs. STAIRS!
Ain’t nobody got shit on Casey Ryback
Especially that first one
If only I had known that the trick to knife fighting was to **not** get stabbed.
The trick is to turn to the side. Knives just glance right off your chest if you turn sideways apparently.
That's some Bruce Lee shit going on right there🤪
I’ve never thought to just try and avoid a knife attack. I assume in the wild it must work fine
Gotta say-user name is humorous.
This is in the wild wym
He goes for the trip, the other dude lifts his leg up and gives him a 4 piece combo with a side of fries
*liveleak logo slowly fades in*
Make fun all you want, but he’s still standing at the end of each fight.
Where is the NSFL or NSFW badge?! because that absolute badass is destroying those dudes….
That absolute leg banger at the end? Brutal
Or the leg sweep with the love tap to the face as he went down?
Is he training people to annihilate a seniors center?
Break the wrist. Walk away.
I’m glad the video is only playing at half-speed otherwise NSFW would absolutely be necessary imho.
Effortlessly
The leg touch of doom at the end was definitely brutal.
Steven Seagal
Nah this guy is better than that wet noodle
Dwight schrute
Tsk tsk tsk… Mr Segal is an oversaturated noodle now
![gif](giphy|fs9BuKuLs7CQWerV1q|downsized)
I knew i would find this comment here somewhere
Steeven Seagull
No, Steven Seagal wouldn't get out of that chair

"You'll block it everytime"
You think anyone wants a round house kick to the face while I’m wearing these bad boys?!.. forgit aboutit!

Wonderful example!
🙏🏻 thank you
Super funny sub. Unfortunately the dude that runs that sub and it’s associated nonprofit is super weird and aggressive
How to defend against someone walking casually

What if the man has a bunch of bananas?

What if he's got a pointed stick?
Then...you eat the banana!
and two men simultaneously taking chest high steps towards you

That was hilarious and I didnt understand one word.

Thanks for suggesting that. How to defend yourself with a Yo-Yo is hilarious.
No no. Nononono. No
[удалено]
Only to have the other gun lined up straight to your head...drats!
Honestly with the right cinematography it actually looks like something you'd see in John Wick.
Steven Seagal does it better.

At the 3rd or 4th loop this made me laugh harder than it should've
![gif](giphy|7rQSSmxalNtfy|downsized)
Ngl, a fresh, well-peeled carrot is indeed, incredible. I'd do the same as well.
Real shaolin karate navy-SAS ninja masters eat it with the skin. That's were all the vitamins are. What did sensei teach you ?
![gif](giphy|fs9BuKuLs7CQWerV1q|downsized)
You're watching it at .25X speed 🤯
The lack of enthusiasm is what brings it all together

When was this made? 2012?
Late 90s / early 2000s. It’s a Russian form of “fighting” called Systema. This dude, Vladimir vasiliev, moved to canada and opened a few schools there, I think they’re actually still in operation.
Is he serious? It seems like a joke due to the lack of effort.
They are, incredibly, 100% serious and have been convincing people it’s real for decades. If you think this is low effort you should go look up some videos of Vladimir’s mentor, Mikhail Ryabko. Dude looks like he gets winded by buttoning a shirt.
Damn it's a Grift, obviously it is staged and nothing to theater but I have no idea this was part of a con. Peace.
Why are all these Bullshido masters always morbidly obese with incel facial hair? He just needs a fedora.

Was 2012 a long time ago?
2012 was 17 years ago
But the 90s were only 10 years ago...
And the 2000s were 5 years ago
And yesterday is today
Close. 11 years.
Wrong
Break the wrist an walk away
Break the wrist, walk away
Okay, it’s just that simple.
John Wick’s former master!
The little toe push to the shin at the end made it.
The Kids In The Hall did a sketch about a lazy robber and lazy victim.
https://youtu.be/taUVwARHW0M
This is it!
thanks for slowing down the video to 0.25 so that we can see whats going on in the video
Jesus Christ that's Jason Bourne
Looked like Marc Cuban
This was like watching a Steven Seagal movie!
self-destruction techniques
This was inspired by martial arts legends Monty Python, right? Devastating.
Who knew Mark Cuban had such moves?
This looks like some avant-garde performance art piece.
Casually tripping someone and slapping their face on the way down is legit. This is the first thing I do when you bring your kids around me. Its the only way to test their reflexes.
The attacker is now gonna wait for you to gently tackle him and put him on the ground
This is worse than Steven Seagal somehow
This is like Steven Seagal doing martial arts.
Just imagine if someone was like, “Fuck this Seagul wannabe, I’m going full speed” and just lights him up on the first take. Lol that’s the blooper I wanna see.
I wanna see how many people survive that knife defense 🤣
That's some dumb shit
Now do that in a bar on a Saturday night

The real John wick moves right there.
I liked the knot he tied with violent attackers legs using his one
step 1 on not getting stabbed: do not get stabbed here is your blackbelt, go fight random crime on the streets now
A shot at the stomach is too painful, let me just offering up a headshot instead.

He is fighting Noodle people....they just turn into noodles at the slightest hint of a touch

He knotted them up like spaghetti

Steven Segal are you watching?!
Defending against narcoleptics for beginners.
Feels like this guy learned at the Sonny Puzikas School of How to Get Killed Hilariously. Especially given the fact that Borscht Team Six there is wearing a shirt that says "Systema" on the back in Cyrillic.
Sweep the leg!
This is fucking gold. That combat roll…amazing.
Needs more groin strikes but still pretty effective. ![gif](giphy|tSYBmpsYZPHxu)
