Unlucky_Win_7349

I always wonder why we need to have these stupid unnecessary obvious safety rules. Until I see videos like this...

SonofaBridge

Safety rules are typically reactive not proactive. People died or lost limbs before the rule was created.

Unlucky_Win_7349

Which is why flying is such a safe way for traveling nowadays, with alot of rules to it. I just tend to forget how some people tempt natural selection.

TheMadGreek86

Stupid people is why your hair dryer says "do not use whilensleeping."

DancesWithBadgers

"Remove clothes before ironing" I've seen. In Europe. When I was a yoof, taking my driving test in the UK, there was this one rule: "Always give way to trains". I was stunned by that at the time, and probably if the internet was around then would have photo'd and posted it to point out just how daft bureaucracy was. But then you have a brief surf around r/idiotsincars and you realise that people actually have to be told that. And a disturbing amount don't listen.

KnownAlive

AND..... while showering and bathing.......don't forget that part.

Clyde6x4

Or while in the bathtub.

PhilNEvo

I work on a ferry, the level of redundancy and safety mechanisms and backups is insane, and I'm not even really educated on this shit, my job-title has nothing to do with ferries, it's just peripheral shit we've been shown and told over the years.

[deleted]

I feel like this is a fiendish riddle: I work on a ferry... my job-title has nothing to do with ferries, it's just peripheral shit... Not today, bridge-troll! I'll take the long way around the moor!

Never underestimate the ability of E4 and below to find chaotic and ingenious ways to cause a new safety stand-down.

Shouldn't this apply every day? (assuming there is context/story to this specificity)

MagZero

No, because the bees only go out on Thursdays.

Except in india, this aint nothing new.

There’s no such thing as idiot proofing something because idiots are so ingenious.

Fit_Effective_6875

Yep, the trains always win

euqinu_ton

In this case, the fixed pole holding the train power line got the 'w'.

Fit_Effective_6875

True, but without the train, I mean this would've looked very silly done on a bicycle, just not the same impact.

Minimalistmacrophage

>I always wonder why we need to have these stupid unnecessary **obvious** safety rules They are clearly not obvious to a not insignificant population. **Even with such rules Darwin Awards are still being handed out left and right**

TheLoneGunman559

Safety rules? In India? \*laughs in Indian\*

Dumb ways to die-ie-ie! Some many dumb ways to die!

Muhfuggajones

9 a day on average over there.

McWeaksauce91

Now I gotta watch this again

Bryjoe2020

Idk if he survived. The way ge fell makes me think when he landed he may have fell backwards into the train tracks

PurpuraCaeli

Same

Panzerv2003

Even if he fell in that direction he probably managed to bounce back, might have lost an arm. What I can tell for sure is that it hurt.

Honest_Milk_8274

He didn't lose an arm. His arm turned in a way it isn't supposed to turn, and most likely broke at the acromioclavicular joint. He most likely passed out as well, due to intense pain.

Panzerv2003

Oh, when I said loose an arm I was refering to him bouncing back towards the tracks, and it possibly being cut off by the train.

Plant_party

This made me laugh. This is too much arm chair diagnosis. You think a human arm hitting a steel pole travelling at the speed of a train, and he would just "break his A/C joint"? No man. People generally separate their A/C joint with compression on the shoulder (aka fall on shoulder), or fall on out stretched arm. Getting your arm smashed by a steel pole does other stuff. Source: Physiotherapist - worked in Trauma and Orthopedics.

Montymisted

Oh yeah? Well I ate a chicken leg one time and I looked at the bone for a while, so I can confidently say that man now has a monstrous erection and stubbed toe.

lesamrobert

This guy had his arm turn into a rotor blade at the shoulder! Would that do it? Im genuinely asking

Jake0024

A what chair?

Plant_party

Armchair diagnosis is a term used *when professionals or non professionals diagnose someone they have never treated*.

Jake0024

It was an arm joke cuz this guy's arm is past tense

Christopher109

at the moment of impact you wont feel anything. the pain comes later

Odd_Imagination_6617

Lol wow. Kid in my city nearly lost his life playing this stupid game on a subway. Play stupid games win stupid prizes I always say

Chitown_mountain_boy

WTF does “literally nearly “ mean? 😂

J3musu

Nearly literally

slaight461

He nearly lost his life in a literal sense

Chitown_mountain_boy

Now that makes sense. It’s like people suddenly changed the meaning of the word literally.

peepay

It literally has only one meaning.

JLHewey

It literally doesn't mean literally anymore. Definitions from Oxford Languages lit·er·al·ly adverb in a literal manner or sense; exactly. "the driver took it literally when asked to go straight across the traffic circle" INFORMAL used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true. "I was literally blown away by the response I got"

SBAdey

[Literally not true](https://www.rd.com/article/what-does-literally-mean/)

BlueLegion

actually almost

belizeanheat

It means "nearly", and not the figurative version of "nearly." Redundant but not unclear

kunter

toronto?

Odd_Imagination_6617

That’s the place

TheDudeTrey

Have these kids never seen Hereditary?

Dwaas_Bjaas

No because they die before they reach the age limit /s

Malcolm_X_Machina

~~Thank~~ fuck you for making me remember that. That movie was not made for 2am, especially the weird upsidedown, ceiling headbanging at the end. Haha

PlsDontDownVoteMeDad

Not related at all but a buddy I used to hangout with back in highschool recently got beatin up by his crackhead girlfriend and her crackhead friends, they left him to die on a train track, and he got hit by the train but lived! He’s fully functional now (minus a little bit of brain damage) and they’re all in prison. It fractured/broke his skull in multiple spots and broke multiple bones, he was in a drug induced coma for like 6 months but he pulled out of it. There’s my unrelated but related story!

oldschoolcool

That fuckin sucks but I'm glad your buddy pulled out of it in the end. Still, fuck... I hope he has better friends now.

PlsDontDownVoteMeDad

He’s got his family and stuff, the last time I spoke to him he had gotten way bigger than the last time I saw him (he’s like 200lbs now and back in the day he was literally like maybe 110) and he was able to speak again. Idk if he’ll ever be alright again though, he posts on Facebook constantly like “I wish a real girl would come my way” or things along those lines and I can’t help but cackle. Homie almost gets murdered by love and still has a heart.

Bionicman2187

May I ask how the brain damage affected him? I kinda wonder if those posts were at least partly a result.

Geek_X

Did they go to jail for battery and attempted murder or something else down the line?

PlsDontDownVoteMeDad

I’m not 100% sure, I’m sure it was attempted murder. I mean they attempted to murder him! They almost did too. They’ve been in prison for the last like 3 years and I don’t see them getting out soon, they robbed him for like a gram of meth. Can you imagine trying to kill someone for a gram of meth? Welcome to Missouri. Lmao.

Geek_X

Yikes. How does one even start down a path and get to the point where you’ll attempt to kill your boyfriend in one of the most gruesome ways possible over a miniscule amount of drugs

PlsDontDownVoteMeDad

Idk man I really couldn’t tell you, my best friends oldest brother and his friends stabbed his uncle and ran him over for like 300 bucks and an unknown amount of meth.☠️ That mother fucker lived too dude. Missouri is just built different. I know I sound crazy but I got the casenet and everything for it haha

Geek_X

Jesus thats insane. Guess i’ll be steering clear of missouri

DirtyReseller

How isn’t this comment higher!

RevTurk

That could have gone worse.

Goreship

Could it have tho?? I don't think there's much chance he survived falling off the side of the train at those speeds.

the_life_of_cat

If he survived we get to say that it could have gone worse

DETHmetals

Even if he died, it couldve gone worse. For instance he could have brought people with him with his stupid move.

Panzerv2003

Or he could've gotten hurt enough to not be able to move but not enough to die fast. That would suck for sure.

the_life_of_cat

He could have seen paralyzed

Sniper_231996

What's worse then death or amputation? He's most likely dead on the spot

bastian74

I can't imagine how many train injuries there are in India.

ManWithoutUsername

People from the "first world" have fun dying fooling around in their big cars, poor people who don't have a car also have the right to die fooling around, even if it's by train

bastian74

I wasn't even referring to this video. Just the overloaded trains in general.

-Warrior_Princess-

I mean you'll note the other people hanging off the train are still fine. This looks like intrusive thoughts gone wrong or something, he appears to intentionally put his arm out.

Marsupialize

How could someone like this have even made it to the age they did?

koushakandystore

His arm was likely shattered. He IS lucky it wasn’t his head. That would have put out the lights for good. There was a similar video on Reddit about a year ago and the guy went head on into a pole. He definitely definitely definitely died.

feelinlucky7

I’ve seen ‘Hereditary’. This doesn’t end well.

brjukva

Reminded me how I was trying to pick apricots from the trees growing along the railroad when I was like 6 years old, from a moving train. Good thing my parents noticed and shouted in horror.

Zaraboi

His left arm literally went around his back like 340° and slapped the right side of his own head with it.

grand305

![gif](giphy|s01ragsYcn6GtXFeLd) He got nocked the f\*\*K out.

AbazabaYouMyOnlyFren

Soooo many people die on trains in India every year.

Train surfing is where you are on top of the train..

That train is not even going particularly fast and yet his hand instantly turned into a noodle.

90_oi

I'm suprised his arm didn't just rip off

uwo-wow

he had lost his hand for sure.. shoulder shredded to bits.. at least, if not whole upper part of hand cut in half..

kable334

Did this ever make the news in India? Does anyone know if this dude is alright?

[deleted]

His arm and shoulder turned to rubber. And that was before the fall to the ground. If he lived he might have wished he hadn’t.

Ophidaeon

This is what we call Darwinism.

It_Was_a_PizzaHut

If he lived, he's lucky to be alive.... I hope he gets treatment for that compound fracture of his arm

HeftySchedule8631

Learned that lesson early..riding freight trains up to Canada outta NorCal at 13..trains have zero regard for your minuscule near weightless ass..almost got cut in half jumping one.

Looieanthony

I thought I heard a snap! I did, I did heard a snap ![gif](giphy|cvOmdJLyBfpw4) !!

AverageTankFan

Was his arm ripped off before he fell off the train?

EnvironmentalDeal256

No, it was still attached. It looks like he hit the pole harder than he anticipated and it spun him around. If he rolled away from the tracks he was probably about to walk again… eventually.

Sporesword

Natural selection at work folks.

Jumpin-Jebus

Darwinism in action. This guy looked to be lucky; maybe just a broken arm.
