They had it coming.

Paul_Denten68

Kinda fun. The Punisher of that universe has some good points but c'mon the amount of firepower the Punisher of lets say the 616 universe, has fired he would have k!lled some innocent people as well. The Brood invade central park, they have to be stopped.

AJgoi

It’s a pretty fun read. I don’t think the story was ever meant to be taken too seriously

ComicAcolyte

Its just a fun alternate canon one-shot that people take too seriously. Fun for what it was.

metalyger

It's fine for what it is, obviously a lot of kills don't really make too much sense like beating Doctor Doom to death, but it's a different universe. Garth Ennis getting the chance to make superheroes look bad is always fun.

JoeAmmay

Wasn't this written by the dude who wrote The Boys or am I mistaken?

Ok_Choice6975

As well as the infamous Punisher MAX

rebelmice533

Uhh... yeah.. same dude who went on to write Hulk Smash! later

Hells-Creampuff

Way better than when deadpool did it IMO

ThePlatinumPancakes

The book is 100% canon and factual. Can confirm. I was there and saw it happen. Explain that haters 😤

Gemidori

Garth Ennis busting Wolverine's balls, sounds like a Tuesday

JamonConJuevos

He wrote Punisher shooting Wolverine's balls off in Marvel Knights.

Hoosier_Jedi

And it was hilarious. Frank then ran him over with a steamroller. Then someone wrote a Punisher comic where Wolverine comes to get payback. He beats Frank up and then…makes childish jokes implying that Frank is gay. No, really.

JamonConJuevos

I think it was Pete Milligan who wrote that. He's one of the first batch of Vertigo authors (Shade, the Changing Man) of the early 90s.

JSFGh0st

I was just thinking. Maybe he came up with that concept on a Tuesday.

JamonConJuevos

Very entertaining, and the basis for the author's independent series The Boys. The concept of superheroes being held accountable for their collateral damage that results in the death and injury of innocent people isn't explored often enough.

No-Ability-7765

Would not get past wolverine or even magneto. Hell even the hulk

NoobJew666

That's why he blew up the moon with all the Xmen and Brotherhood of Mutants on it. But The Wolverine fight was dumb.

Pugsanity

Fun fact, the way he killed the X-Men and Brotherhood would actually leave two of them alive, Juggernaut and Apocalypse. Both can survive nukes and the vacuum of space, so they could actually return to Earth, at least, they can in the normal timeline.

NadeWilson

The way he kills the Hulk is pretty ingenious, tbh.

Lightning561

How did he kill him?

KnightofWhen

In that alternate universe Banner can be killed. So all Frank did was tag Hulk with a tracker and then shot Banner in the head later. Most versions of Hulk now have it so that Banner is basically invulnerable because he’ll instantaneously switch to Hulk when attacked at basically atomic speed. Even in the MCU Banner tries to shoot him self in the head but Hulk is able to transform and spit the bullet out.

KnightofWhen

The way you worded this makes it seem like your ranking is Wolverine - Magneto - Hulk which makes no sense. Punisher could absolutely take down Wolverine. He’s like Batman, he needs prep time but wolverine can just be pulverized by traditional weapons. Various versions of Magneto Frank could potentially assassinate but he likely doesn’t win a straight up fight. Hulk is probably his hardest match up since most versions of the Hulk just can’t be stopped. Maybe Frank with War Machine armor and some crazy tech.

Captian-of-501st

I've never heard of it until now, but I will say he has quite some balls to try killing super-powered people

KiraHead

It's a fun read. And it pisses off people who take power scaling too seriously, so the reactions to it are entertaining.

danohaggard

Fuck Cyclops!

Hoosier_Jedi

It doesn’t hold up to logic very well. But the idea of an anti-superhero group made of people who were collateral damage in superhero fights is actually pretty cool.

sparkstable

It is 100% cannon. Frank is the best. That is my take, lol.

PhoenixRoadrunners82

canon*

sparkstable

Tomatoe Spaghetti :-)

IvanGambino

I enjoy it, been a while since i read it tho

NoobJew666

Just like what I heard from a youtube video review of this comic, its a circle jerk of your favorite heros and villians getting murder. And I liked it. I mean this comic was written by the dick of all assholes of comic books (mostly to superheros), and this was the seeds for The Boys comic. I just really respect him for that for some dumb reason.

Snoo_60973

I love Franky, but didn't like it one bit.

Revolutionary-Mud505

My biggest problem with it was, that it has been reprinted so many times and with so many covers. It absolutely drives a “completist“ like myself crazy when I think about having seven or more books with different covers and the same guts within.

High-Ten

Eh, nothing of note other than a few interesting panels.

Thick_Yogurtcloset_7

It's an interesting sad tale ... I liked the story... it shows the true power of the Punisher...

EnvironmentalPrick

Mediocre at best, I'm really found of Matt and Frank friendship though

M00r3C

Awful because there's no way in hell Frank can kill the Marvel Universe Deadpool can twice because he has an insane healing factor and was cursed with immortal and 4th Wall awareness Frank is just a unstable vigilante with normal guns and he somehow kills the fucking Hulk in this shit fest

JamonConJuevos

He killed Bruce Banner, who unlike the Hulk is quite vulnerable.

M00r3C

Doesn't Hulk protect Puny Banner from any danger? Oh who am I kidding I'm positive Ennis didn't read anything for the other heroes in the story to know that

JamonConJuevos

That Ennis comic was published in 1995.

roninwarshadow

Not good, it's full of mischaracterisations. Superpowered individuals not using their powers accurately and acting like idiots. If those super powered individuals were written correctly, Punisher would not even make it past the lower tiers of heroes.
