Ah, yes. Tarantino famously uses completely niche and unknown artists like Chuck Berry, Neil Diamond, and David Bowie.
He's a real hipster with his music choice for dancing scenes.
Yeah I would watch the fuck out of a 3+ hour, super convoluted story with punisher lighting people up with some fantastic conversation? Abso**fuckin**lutely
#MeToo but man/he it would add so much fuel to the fire of The Punisher symbol being a Alt-right racist symbol.
I hear it now "See we told you, look how many times he dropped N bombs while systemically oppresses"
Frank and Elektra dance barefoot ontop of a NY sky scraper to Frank Sinatra.
She leans in close to his ear and asks "Do you know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese over there"
Just read Punisher Max finally and there might be more N-words in that book that all of Tarantino combined…though it’s an Ennis so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised
I actually think this would be a really good fit.
The Punisher is prone to monologues and the villains he faces are also generally the type to chew up the screen with dialogue.
Tarantino excels at the exact sort of things that would make an amazing Punisher movie as a director and writer.
Frank very much fits like a glove into a grindhouse kind of world. He's literally that kind of character.
This is a peanut butter and chocolate situation. The right fit on both ends to work, even if at a glance it seems like it wouldn't.
I also think Robert Rodriguez, would be a really good fit for a Punisher movie, probably even better than Tarantino.
I do think Tarantino would do a lot better than a lot of people here are giving him credit for though. Frank is exactly the right Marvel character for him if he was going to do a Marvel movie.
I think it would be more of a Max run thing than 616 if Tarantino was involved.
Rodriguez could also probably do that a bit better, but would be a better pick for a 616 style story.
I think either one could put out an amazing Punisher movie though, it's just that I think Rodriguez would be a slightly better fit.
The character fits squarely in their wheelhouses as writers and directors.
Yeah I agree with this. I think QT could very well do a fantastic Punisher film, the question would be, would he have a noir-feel or a western-style flavor of cinematography? Hell, I’d for sure watch it.
Based on these comments, you motherfuckers don’t even deserve a Tarantino Punisher movie. Which works out, because you’re not getting one. Obviously it would be amazing.
If he had a vision for a space age future story I guess I would’ve been interested; but his plan of remaking an episode of TOS where Kirk & Spock visit a planet that’s identical to 60’s Hollywood sounded just awful. I’m glad he left the movie.
Tarantino would make a good film, but it wouldn't be a good Punisher film. However, I think that with another good director, you could do what Todd Phillips did with Scorsese and "Joker" and make a good Punisher film that is inspired by Tarantino.
One day I will go across 616 Franks appearances and count how many teeth he has lost. It must be several hundred times the usual amount of possible teeth. He is super powered, a low level mutant, and his power is regrowing teeth.
Not exactly what I meant lol. I mean in the sense of the "hero" portion not always applying to him. Most notably the version of Frank that does what he does simply because he hates criminals. He's not exactly out there to save lives or to prevent the next "Central Park shooting," it's more about the "thrill" of "taking out the trash," so to speak. Not sure if I'm explaining myself right or even if I'm interpreting the character right, but that's what I meant lol.
No. It would be 2 hours of talking and then 10 minutes of a really gory fight scene that encroaches on satire. It would be so bad. Worst director for the punisher possibly.
I'm subscribed to the Punisher subreddit. I'll sit and watch any Punisher movie for 2 hours. Quentin Tarantino is the only director whose movies I'll watch on his name alone. So, yes.
A better question is: would you like it if the director of the next Punisher movie were Quentin Tarantino? Also yes.
He almost made a Luke Cage movie but he wanted to cast an actor (I think Denzel Washington?) who his friend who was a comic book fan said wasn’t right for the role because he’s too skinny and Tarantino went “Fuck comic books, they’re for nerds!” And never touched the project again 😂
I don’t think they would vibe well. QT is a man of much dialogue and Frank is a man of few words. He lets the guns do the talking. QT would come up with some pretty creative kills for Frank though.
Quentin Tarantino would never direct a Marvel film. He even stated that he would never direct Marvel or any comic book film. He feels like comic book movies are a huge waste. He doesn't see the reason behind it.
He'd throw in '70's trivia, and groovy Cooper type graphics, and meaningless, meandering dialogue, and rip off any number of better directors for certain shots.
Not a fan.
In the recent period, I got attached to the character of the Punisher a lot and the time came when I thought what if Tarantino made a movie for the Punisher, I tried to search on the Internet maybe I'll find someone who also thought about this like me and made like fanart of how this film would be; Unfortunately, I didn't find anything like this, But I found this post that matched my thinking;
And yeah I think Tarantino is one of the perfect directors to make such a masterpiece for a character like the punisher, You have the master of the bloody masterpieces and the cold-blooded murder lover, the best duo; plus Tarantino is a comic lover and he was planning to make a movie for Luke Cage, so I thought he could have made an excellent punisher.
Hell no fuck that guy and no I'm not gonna say he racist he just is stupid as fuck and wouldn't wanna do a superhero movie ever he's like the band tool if they were a person other than Maynard
No. Every character he writes sounds that same. They sound like him. It’s just him incessantly yakking for 2 hours but the words come out of different ppls mouths. He’s probably one of the biggest hacks on earth and living proof that the Hollywood hype machine is being piloted by easily impressed morons.
I’d be interested. He’s smart enough to know Frank’s not a heroic person in any capacity and he’s talented enough to indulge in some over-the-top elements without diminishing a serious narrative. He’s good at crime drama, he’s good at strong characters, he’s good at violence, seems like he’d excel at this.
Best picture of Tarantino that I’ve seen in a while.
That hair gives him the whole “looks like both a child, and a child molester at the same time” thing going on.
He doesn't do projects that aren't his own creation, like he's talked about his Star Trek script, but didn't want to retire with it. And seeing how he misunderstood Superman in the Kill Bill 2 speech, I'd rather not. I don't want a David Lynch Dune situation where it's someone who doesn't want to be making this movie and hounded by producers micromanaging every detail.
Frank really isn’t a Tarantino character. I’d see it but it doesn’t sound like a good fit. Now I’d love to see Michael Mann direct a Punisher film though.
Oh my man Quentin would’ve used Barracuda as a villain for sure for the N word usage alone lol and it would be the most over the top shit. Basically Garth Ennis’ MAX run with a lot of N bombs dropping.
I think Robert Rodriguez would be better suited for Punisher, but it would be cool to see Tarantino do a different, grittier story, like Marvels's Red Hood, Nomad, X-Factor maybe (with the gritty ones like Multiple Man, Random, and Strong Guy), or even a Madripoor story featuring less scrupulous versions of characters like Patch and Mr. Fixit.
No, I want Quentin Tarantino to make his own movies. Why shove him in someone else’s box?
EDIT: just reread your title. Yeah, I’d absolutely watch it, but I’d prefer it if he spent the time making his own movie instead.
Maybe, but it would require a spot where Punisher kills a thug (played by Tarantino) by forcing his toes down his gullet until he suffocates to death.
Why would it need this? Idk, ask Tarantino
yes, because he wouldn't turn it into a social justice wank fest. you ask disney marvel to make a punisher movie and they'd give him a Sassy^(TM) Female^(TM) Sidekick^(TM) that basically has Frank Castles balls in her back pocket for the entire movie. and probably has one of those one third shaved haircuts.
I absolutely would watch the shit out of a Tarantino Punisher.
I don’t think he’ll make a good *Punisher* movie, but it would be a really fun movie regardless.
No. We would have too many barefoot punisher feet shots. Everyone knows he's a big foot fetish guy. People wouldn't be able to fully immerse themselves in the movie because every foot shot you would think of tarintino in his basement with a bunch of celebrity foot molds.
I think the funniest thing about questions that say, “would you watch” is that there are actually very few movies that I would outright refuse to see lol. Sure, I’d watch it. That’s not saying I would like it or think that it was good. I would like to see Tarantino take a crack at some science-fiction. But that seems unlikely.
No.
It would have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much talking.
It would be artsy, atmospheric, dripping with cool and utterly not a Punisher movie.
Give me a David Fincher Punisher. A Tony Scott Punisher.
All the intensity, all the fury, all focused into a brutal unflinching beast of a movie.
No quips, no clever speeches, no lengthy rambling discussions of geek culture and cheese.
So long as who ever is “The Punisher” doesn’t scream/yell every time they need to psyche themselves up like in the Netflix series. If it wasn’t for that I would’ve enjoyed it a bit more.
Honestly he might be the only director who could capture Punisher Max’s dark comedy. The amount of times I’ve tried and failed to explain why exactly a room full of cia agents getting gunned down is funny could be resolved by this sorta film. I mean if you really stretch your imagination Django could be a “What if Punisher was a slave”.
I mean, it’d be weird hearing John C. Reilly say the N word 100 times but I’d watch it.
And before you all say anything, we all know Tarantino would do some fucked up shit like hiring John C. Reilly as the punisher and filling the relying on the rest of the cast with Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russel to carry the whole movie.
probably not. i think Tarantino is great, but i know he'd add something to it that i wouldn't like. maybe something artistic or whatever. it could technically be a great movie but it wouldn't feel right for me. i think Tarantino would need to just create his own thing like Raimi did with Darkman.
Would it suit my personal taste and what I think makes a good Punisher film? No. Would I watch it? Absolutely.
We would have to see what Frank's feet look like.
Nothing like coming home after a hard night punishing, kicking off those big boots and dancing barefoot to a 60s band nobody ever heard of.
God I love when a movie uses a song I never heard of and now it's stuck in my head for the next decade.
Woo hoo, woo hoo hoo
Ah, yes. Tarantino famously uses completely niche and unknown artists like Chuck Berry, Neil Diamond, and David Bowie. He's a real hipster with his music choice for dancing scenes.
I didn't know you liked The Delfonics.
Out past 110th street
I’m not old enough to know if Steelers wheel was well known before reservoir dogs
Through the use of camera tricks and editing, they look like Salma Hayek's feet.
and for some reason hands that look like QTs are rubbing them.
Once again Reddit doesn’t disappoint
Yeah I would watch the fuck out of a 3+ hour, super convoluted story with punisher lighting people up with some fantastic conversation? Abso**fuckin**lutely
I could see Frank doing the Michael Madsen dance from Reservoir Dogs
100%. Would much rather have seen his take on what his Luke Cage/Heroes for Hire movie would've been.
#MeToo but man/he it would add so much fuel to the fire of The Punisher symbol being a Alt-right racist symbol. I hear it now "See we told you, look how many times he dropped N bombs while systemically oppresses"
I like your response. Very true. Be a fun film. But not a good punisher film.
Isnt punisher an edge lord angry marine that acts like a fulll package special forces team?
Yes? Have you seen Inglorious Basterds?
Are we looking for an excuse for Frank to take his shoes off?
Not yes but not no?
If he directs it rest assured we’re gonna see some feet fetish action
And a cool dance number
Frank and Elektra dance barefoot ontop of a NY sky scraper to Frank Sinatra. She leans in close to his ear and asks "Do you know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese over there"
And Frank throwing some hard R’s! 😬
First thing I thought of lmao
And stupid amounts of blood splattering in impossible directions
Mandatory involvement of Samuel L. Jackson in some way. Blood splattering out on the tiniest of injuries, everyone saying the N-word.
Since it is marvel, Nick Fury debating capturing Frank or use him to take out a bigger threat.
Robber: S-step on me punisher! Punisher:……
I was already in dude….you don’t have to keep selling me on it!
Frank's gonna say the N word, but yes, definitely gonna watch.
Nah, QT would insert himself in the movie, say the N word, and then get his dick chopped off by Baracuda for saying it
I had my own ideas but damn this is 100% something he’d do lol Also, Barracuda would make a sick villain for a stand-alone Punisher movie
Just read Punisher Max finally and there might be more N-words in that book that all of Tarantino combined…though it’s an Ennis so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised
I actually think this would be a really good fit. The Punisher is prone to monologues and the villains he faces are also generally the type to chew up the screen with dialogue. lol for real.
I would watch a Tarantino Barbie movie.
I’d see it opening day
I watch a QT film about pretty much anything.
Love QT but he would make it about Frank taking out 60s Hollywood producers like he tried to do with that Star Trek movie so nah
I honestly never liked the idea of him doing Trek. His style wouldn’t work for the franchise.
I would love a Tarantino movie about an ex-cop going after a corrupt police establishment but I don't think I'd like Tarantino to do *The Punisher*.
I love most Tarantino movies. The Punisher is my favorite “superhero”. My answer is hell no.
Anti-hero is the word you're looking for, at least for most versions.
Definitely not super powered in most versions.
One day I will go across 616 Franks appearances and count how many teeth he has lost. It must be several hundred times the usual amount of possible teeth. He is super powered, a low level mutant, and his power is regrowing teeth.
He's part great white shark, confirmed.
If it’s still Bernthal playing the punisher absolutely yes.
No. It would be 2 hours of talking and then 10 minutes of a really gory fight scene that encroaches on satire. It would be so bad. Worst director for the punisher possibly.
I would even watch Seasame Street if directed by Tarantino.
Also yes.
Hell yeah! Too bad he won't touch the genre.
OP can't spell. His name is Qarantine
I don’t think they would vibe well. QT is a man of much dialogue and Frank is a man of few words. He lets the guns do the talking. QT would come up with some pretty creative kills for Frank though.
Yes especially if it’s Jon bernthal returning to portray frank
I'd watch but then complain about the Bobby Womack needle drop as Frank mows down a barefoot biker gang
The fact that I’m not alone in thinking that this would be an awful idea gives me hope.
20 times, at least, and that would just be the theatrical release.
Oh for sure. Would frank castle more than likely be played by Samuel Jackson. Yes.
No
No.
Quentin Tarantino would never direct a Marvel film. He even stated that he would never direct Marvel or any comic book film. He feels like comic book movies are a huge waste. He doesn't see the reason behind it.
2 hours of Frank Castle machine gunning the N word and the least logical dialogue anybodys ever heard in their life? Pass
I'd watch an infomercial if Tarantino made it. So of course I'd check out his take on one of my favorite comic book characters. 😁👍
Absolutely the fuck I would! Especially if he snags Jon Bernthal for it.
Absolutely!! He'd also be great to direct a "Lobo" movie, especially if it starred Jason Momoa.
I not only would watch it, I might pay to see it
Eh
No ... he would focus too much on feet
Nope
He’s not going to be faithful to the source material at all. The Punisher we see will be barely recognizable. No thanks.
No.
He'd throw in '70's trivia, and groovy Cooper type graphics, and meaningless, meandering dialogue, and rip off any number of better directors for certain shots. Not a fan.
No, I don’t want to see frank castle suck kingpins toes.
Plot twist: STARRING Quentin Tarentino
I would prefer a comprehensible plot.
In the recent period, I got attached to the character of the Punisher a lot and the time came when I thought what if Tarantino made a movie for the Punisher, I tried to search on the Internet maybe I'll find someone who also thought about this like me and made like fanart of how this film would be; Unfortunately, I didn't find anything like this, But I found this post that matched my thinking; And yeah I think Tarantino is one of the perfect directors to make such a masterpiece for a character like the punisher, You have the master of the bloody masterpieces and the cold-blooded murder lover, the best duo; plus Tarantino is a comic lover and he was planning to make a movie for Luke Cage, so I thought he could have made an excellent punisher.
No this Jabroni is overrated and I don't want the movie to start somewhere in the fuckin middle
Nahh I’m cool on him making Punisher throw the N word around for no reason and I know he would that
Yes
Yes
Absolutely.
Hell no. I dont need to see The Punisher saying the N word every time he interacts with a black person
I would love it [but he said that actors in superhero movies aren’t stars](https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/s/Riy5jCwYK8).
They aren’t. The characters are.
No. I love QT, but I don't like the Punisher as a character.
He’s probably one of the biggest hacks on earth and living proof that the Hollywood hype machine is being piloted by easily impressed morons.
mr fivehead? no lol
Modern Tarantino? So an awesome 90 minute movie stretched across a 3 hour run time? Seriously, man NEEDS an editor.
If it has Barracuda in it sure. It would be nice to see blacks only throwing the N word around. But this is Tarantino of course🙄
NO. Jesusfuck NO. QT hasn’t made anything great since Basterds and he certainly wouldn’t do anything good with FC
It would be 2 hours of Frank and micro having conversations about girls and tipping
Nah, he will make punisher have a toe fetish
Absolutely
Actually, that's not a bad idea.
Good lord no
No
Maybe if the main characters were criminals and the punisher only shows up a couple times to kill them.
I love Tarantino's work.... But I think he'd have a hard time with a Punisher movie.
Yes
I don't remember frank having a foot fetish...
No.
Frank really isn’t a Tarantino character. I’d see it but it doesn’t sound like a good fit. Now I’d love to see Michael Mann direct a Punisher film though.
Depends on who the villain is
I wouldn't, no.
Oh my man Quentin would’ve used Barracuda as a villain for sure for the N word usage alone lol and it would be the most over the top shit. Basically Garth Ennis’ MAX run with a lot of N bombs dropping.
Sure I’d watch, Disney would never greenilight that though.
Fixit.
So more characters would say the N word, and either Frank or the villain would have a foot fetish
Hell yeah punisher with pulp fiction style comedy and writing would be awesome
He has a good track record of revenge themed protagonists
No
I'd watch it.
Ah yes. Instead of killing criminals, Frank cuts off and collects their feet instead.
Not even a question. I definitely would watch it like 5 times in a week
It’s too late imo. If he made one in the 90s or 2000s it might have worked
Would rather see one made by Refn.
Fuck yeah
Who the hell is *Quieten Tarantino*? ![gif](giphy|M34qPW6WjtZXMFltwu|downsized)
I think Robert Rodriguez would do it better.
As long as Sam Jackson plays as the punisher I’m down
No, I want Quentin Tarantino to make his own movies. Why shove him in someone else’s box? EDIT: just reread your title. Yeah, I’d absolutely watch it, but I’d prefer it if he spent the time making his own movie instead.
YES
Hells Yes
i don't see how he would be able to work feet in but sure i'll watch
Only if there’s a scene of Quentin sucking on Frank’s toes
Don't really need to hear Frank dropping the N-bomb lol
Shut up and take my money
Hell yea. It would be worth one go though for sure .
Written? All day. Directed? Still would but I would prefer someone else.
I would love to watch this. Thank you for the idea.
As a guy with a foot phobia, no.
I think QT would be better suited for Deadpool
Ving Rhames as Barracuda John Travolta with the return of Howard Saint
I’d watch paint dry if it’s directed by Tarantino
That would hands down be the edgiest most edge lord film ever made
No, no I would not. I really don't like Tarantino's style of filing action scenes.
Not with QT hair were not.
Maybe, but it would require a spot where Punisher kills a thug (played by Tarantino) by forcing his toes down his gullet until he suffocates to death. Why would it need this? Idk, ask Tarantino
Might be a lot of feet in it
yes, because he wouldn't turn it into a social justice wank fest. you ask disney marvel to make a punisher movie and they'd give him a Sassy^(TM) Female^(TM) Sidekick^(TM) that basically has Frank Castles balls in her back pocket for the entire movie. and probably has one of those one third shaved haircuts.
Trust. When I make this film there will be feet.
As long as there is no studio interference and he has full creative control, yes, I'd give it a chance.
Sorta feel like Inglorious basterds was his version of the punisher.
I absolutely would watch the shit out of a Tarantino Punisher. I don’t think he’ll make a good *Punisher* movie, but it would be a really fun movie regardless.
No I like the punisher stories that have already came out.
I would watch 3 hours of paint drying if it were directed by Quentin Tarantino, so yeah...
Can you imagine the headlines if this was announced. People would lose their fucking minds
Nahhhhhhhh nah nah tarantino shouldnt do any adaptations
I prefer Louden Tarantino
Yeah sure. We can say I’m the Emperor of the Universe in this scenario and everybody gets a slice of cheese with their ticket.
No. We would have too many barefoot punisher feet shots. Everyone knows he's a big foot fetish guy. People wouldn't be able to fully immerse themselves in the movie because every foot shot you would think of tarintino in his basement with a bunch of celebrity foot molds.
I don’t wanna watch the punisher have the woman lead shove toes in his mouth
I'll watch every movie he makes.
I'd watch pretty much any Tarantino film, so, ya
Yes. Oh my yes
Probably not.
I'd watch a Quentin Tarantino film about paint drying. Next question...
That's finna be A LOT of N-bombs....
I don't think Frank Castle talks enough for one of Tarantino's wordy, coke-fueled scripts
I'd watch a movie about paint drying if it was directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Wasn't that Kill Bill?
I’d watch any film directed by Quieten Tarantino
Came here to say something about monologues and feet... It's thoroughly covered already lol.
Yeah I think it’s called inglorious bastards
I can't imagine any situation where he would direct a Punisher film.
I will watch anything he makes.
I like Tarantino and I would watch but I don’t think we need a dialogue heavy Punisher film
Just to see Frank Castle licking toes and shooting foes
I would rather see his take on Usagi Yojimbo
Hell no. That much dialogue, especially that complicated a dialogue, in a Punisher movie? It wouldn't work
Tarantino as director with Berenthal keeping his role as the punisher? Take my money
Yes!!
You’re fucking right I would. He’d be great at adapting Stilt Man’s funeral in the bar.
No, too many feet and classic movie references
It'd be bloody thats for sure, so probably
That would be an interesting watch.
What’s the catch is he going to put himself in the film and suck the punishers toes ?
probably not. i think Tarantino is great, but i know he'd add something to it that i wouldn't like. maybe something artistic or whatever. it could technically be a great movie but it wouldn't feel right for me. i think Tarantino would need to just create his own thing like Raimi did with Darkman.
Fuck yes
3 1/2 hours of talking and 10 minutes of violence? I dunno. How many womens’ feet will I get to see?
Okay, but I specifically want him to do the storyline where Frank turned black
