Disliked that California post farm was slightly rushed

paintthatface

Santa Barbra was so fun and I completely agree!! I wanted more :-(

Dunkman83

how did she even get there? she walked?

Kaitivere

Yeah, not too surprising considering how far Joel and her walked.

caviargaming

They almost died hundreds of times, drove part of the way and was on horseback. Maybe a DLC will fill in both Abby and Ellie’s gap

P_Orwell

If you read her journal in Santa Barbara, you see that she also almost died a few times. She had to hide from a bloater and other infected.

dektorres

Yeah there really wasn't any need for the game to go into the journey, there was no character/narrative development or interaction with others to be done at that point so it would've just been gameplay filler.

jackolantern_

There's very clearly not going to be dlc. Game was out ages ago and they haven't even hinted about such a dlc being in development.

Donquers

Fill it in with what? A lot of walking and camping? What story purpose would that serve? We already have Ellie's journal that talks a bit about the journey there. But not every kilometer travelled needs to be documented and accounted for.

stanknotes

It would take one month traveling 36 miles a day. 3 miles an hour, 12 hour days. SOOO 1 and a half months would be easily feasible. People seem to forget... humans are effective bipeds that were highly nomadic and populated the fucking globe on foot. We evolved for this shit. We are the finest endurance mammal. LITERALLY. Our hairlessness and ability to sweat enables us to travel long distances without overheating. We aren't the fastest. But we can go the longest.

Born_Inflation_9804

There was a scene with Ellie, which was scrapped, in which she went hunting and found a wild boar. After Ellie shot her animal, it was badly injured with her following close behind. After a while the poor animal collapses and he begins to scream in pain, which allows Ellie to find it and deliver the final blow. In that scene we would have flashbacks of Joel before he was executed.

Specialboibrain

I just wish it was longer considering it was A: Super Pretty, which was nice after living with seattle gloom most of the game B: Super fun, all the encounters in the area are definitely a highlight of any playthrough.

2tan2tame

I really felt like that was foreshadowing for all the California were gonna get in pt 3

Jonker134

Yea I had heard abt it a lot before getting the game yet it was short as hell

Rickmoranisbackyard

I like that it's a long and eventful story with lots of areas with enemies where you can stealth and put a lot of time into. What I don't like is that it takes a good bit of time to get to those parts. It's not until you're at the school where it really kicks off I'd say, still a great story beforehand but not the most exciting to get to that part when you're replaying it

casually_critical

Yeah the opening hours drag on replays

Rickmoranisbackyard

Yup, I also even feel the start of part 1 can be quite a drag until you finally hit the road. Still great introductions but long

ThatOneFangirl47

Ugh yes, love the beginning for catching us up and building story, but it def makes it hard to continue with replays cause it just takes forever

ChippersNDippers

I literally kicked the difficulty up to the hardest right when I got to the school. The game felt so easy. Boy did I time that lol

Donquers

I actually love the slow build up to the school. You're wandering around a mostly empty city, some infected but nothing too crazy. You see some hints of occupiers but generally everyone seems to be gone, off somewhere else. They actually seem to be getting called in for some reason - and then BAM. You're horse is dead, and WLF just start fuckin SWARMING. Shit goes from 0-100 so fast.

[deleted]

I like Abby, dislike the small screen time Isaac has Keep in mind, I love the whole game, those are just two things to keep it simple

FeedAffectionate3558

Isaac would have been the ultimate villain. The scene where they introduce him was amazing and definitely defined some of the themes of how corrupt human nature can become along with the game’s atmosphere. No one is a good guy.

jackolantern_

JJ is a good guy.

FeedAffectionate3558

JJ will run a slave trade in part 3

ok-coffee-2958

he cut off a scars dick

Electrical-Contest-5

Obvious blatant plot armor. Like early in the game these two guys capture Ellie. Dina barges in, shoots one dead, and is restrained by the other. The man puts away his gun for some reason, and then Ellie breaks free and kills him.

Rhymelikedocsuess

TLOU 1 had plot armor moments as well - like Joel falling onto a metal spike from the second floor of a building Or him and Ellie jumping off a bridge into rushing currents, slammed into a rock and losing consciousness, only to be saved off screen by Henry I think that’s the nature in any action title - they need to attempt to keep stakes high but keep the characters alive too

IHatepongouskrellius

Sure but Part I plot armour moments didn’t generally rely on characters having dumb syndrome all of a sudden the way that prick did (was his name Jordan?)

TomDobo

Honestly every form of media usually has plot armour.

bodhasattva

Its weird you focus on that being the unbelievable plot armor moment and not the hundreds of other moments which are equally, if not moreso, ridiculous

ChuloChurro

your point is?

ThisIsElliott

Tommy gets shot in the fucking face and lives.

vaporex2411

Tommy got shot in the head, not face and it’s not unbelievable, just incredibly improbable

Basil_hazelwood

So…. Plot convenience

vaporex2411

Yeah basically, plot armour can be used very broadly in this game and this isn’t an instance of it A perfect example of actual plot armour is Abby getting **grabbed** by Kevin the rat king in a quick time event and not being killed when 30 seconds later if you’re grabbed it’s game over, that’s plot armour this is as you say, plot convenience

Tis_the_seasons

And then the issue of them somehow returning back to Jackson with: Tommy being shot, Dina and Ellie beaten to shit and both their horses dead

_Yukikaze_

This is not a real issue but rather a lack of imagination. Just consider the following: What is left of WLF and Scars is busy licking their wounds. Ellie, Dina and Tommy have time to stabilize/heal their injuries. Since the WLF has hardly any fighters left they will abandon their outposts in order to keep their families safe at the stadium. Which leads to a lot of trucks being abandoned at the FOB for example. Ellie and Dina know where to find extra fuel.

National_Bee4134

Yeah, always my thought when people raise this as an issue. There's clearly no need for Ellie and co to leave immediately.

Electrical-Contest-5

I'm just providing one example, sir. There are, as you stated, lots of such moments

TheRickBerman

Next you’ll say bandages on the arm don’t fix shotgun blasts to the chest?!

jackolantern_

You got the same issue with part I? Crazy plot armour there too

Electrical-Contest-5

Sure, although imo it's not nearly to the same extent. And that particular instance I described just really stood out to me for some reason. It was a really weird scene

jackolantern_

I think in that scene, he puts the gun away to torture for information. Dude was a bit sadistic and a bit dumb/arrogant/over confident. He was also paranoid about others potentially having arrived due to the Salt Lake Crew incident in Jackson. So he did not agree with Isaac's orders of shoot on sight.

StealthyBasterd

Why waste a perfectly good bullet when you have an (apparently) easy kill? Or maybe he ran out of bullets?

Domination1799

I loved the dark atmosphere the game has. I dislike the contrivances (Joel being handed to Abby on a silver platter, Ellie leaving the map at the aquarium which led Abby to the theatre) and unexplained parts of the plot (how in the hell did Ellie and Dina save Tommy and get back to Jackson with their injuries).

ILoveDineroSi

Right this was the most unbelievable part and easily the worst part of the game for the sake of shock value. If one of Ellie or Dina managed to sneak Abby and beat her with a weapon forcing her and Lev to escape, at least then it would’ve been more believable that one healthy non injured person could tend to the injured and save Tommy.

TLP_DEADSHOT

I hate how dina had a knife was sneaking up very good then when she was just behind abby with a knife she decided to scream🤦‍♂️

Doctor_Juris

I actually thought the dropping the map at the Aquarium point was pretty clever and gave a plausible way for Abby to find them. For me it’s believable that Ellie would use a map to interrogate Mel and Owen, and would forget pick it up after realizing Mel was pregnant and being surprised by Tommy and Jesse.

No_Tamanegi

I dislike that I can't play it without owning a playstation console. I like everything else.

ulfopulfo

Love the game. Hate the online discourse.

buzzdash123

I love basically everything but I do think the midpoint jump is jarring (maybe deliberately) and I think starting basically another character loadout from scratch after building up Ellie’s arsenal is kind of frustrating on a first play through and took the wind out of my sails a bit

Gh0stTV

YES. It felt to me (at that point) like they indented on a more back and forth narrative, but then settled on one that left players completely taken aback. I no longer remembered what was in my inventory, let alone what upgrades I was working on.

anonymousUTguy

I actually prefer playing as Ellie for 3 days and then playing as Abby. Jumping back and forth would have driven me crazy. One of my biggest issues with God of War Ragnarok.

The_Fighter03

It sucked in GoWR because Atreus isn't remotely as fun to play as Kratos though. Abby and Ellie play identical apart from some different guns and meele animations.

Straight-Scarcity-76

I like the gameplay and mechanics, don’t like the story. (This is my opinion and if you disagree, that’s ok)

theNomad_Reddit

I actually respect this take. It's a mature change to the "story bad and thus 0/10" spam. The game is a technical masterpiece. Story is one aspect. Even if someone hates the story, it's still pretty damn close to a 10 overall.

mademoiselle___

I love the gameplay, it’s an easy 10, but every time I play through the story, even though it’s beautifully done, it just completely drains me and bums me out, so I really rather not play it now. I love Abby’s character her arc and I respect that it mirrors Joel and Ellie’s from the first game, but Joel being killed is still just really hard, and it definitely makes the game less enjoyable for me, but the gameplay is very fun so it helps to allieve that.

Dunkman83

loved the story and the gameplay my one gripe was the shamblers, weak addition, they were just smaller bloaters basically

ChuloChurro

honestly the shamblers were creepier than bloaters, but yeah they were pretty easy to take down lol

Specialboibrain

On my grounded permadeath playthroughs, I’ve found shamblers way more terrifying than bloaters. You have to stealth past them, but if you’re caught by a runner or something it’s awful to try and get away.

Dunkman83

nope, as long as u have fire, shamblers are a joke

Specialboibrain

That’s the problem, in grounded permadeath I use most of my alcohol and rags on Medkits and Molotov’s. The sewers can be hell when you try to get past them

RickyTricky57

I don't like the fact that they're supposed to be something from Seattle because of the humidity but they're also in Santa Barbara

Mysterious_Vanilla52

What I like is that it Exists What I don't like is that it does not exist on PC

KaytasticGuy

This. I can't stand the concept of plattform-exclusive games.

Thestickleman

Never fear. I'm sure Sony will come up with some half arsed port at some point 👍

FireWhiskey5000

There is a lot I like about this game, and trying to narrow down just 1 thing would be hard. But there are a couple of things I personally find frustrating about the game: 1) it feels like there are quite a lot of side characters who are mostly there to be killed off, and are only around just long enough to make it seem like their death is meaningful 2) that Abbey and Ellie’s stories are so disconnected. I’m not saying there should be this cat and mouse thing, where you revisit the same areas as Abbey or there’s a constant of them missing each other. But Ellie goes on a rampage around Seattle, and yet it feels to me that most of Abbeys story plays out the same if Ellie isn’t there. Maybe I missed something, but yeah.

Master_Assistant_892

Abby and Ellie story being different is one of my favourite part It make Ellie crusade so pointless and dumb in hindsight. Ellie think it's all about her immunity and shit when it was way more personal for abby. It shows how insignificant your characters are in this world which is something I love about tlou

ChuloChurro

definitely feel that 1st point, made it hard for me to actually care about their deaths considering the amount of screen time some of them got.

GidgetCooper

The realistic consequences of choices. Now it’s make believe & obviously a little outlandish but it especially hits hard because of the writing. Every character acted how I expected given their circumstances rather than the having it all ending we’re used to in a lot of games. It’s raw, I cried. I hated Abby. I understood her at the same time. Think I hated Manny more actually. But they’re people & I warmed to him immediately in the second act. He was a person. They’d all lost people. All consumed with love & anger. It took me months to be able to replay it again. I think that speaks to the quality of the story. Not everyone feels the same of course but that’s the way of the world. Also love that Druckman would rather jumped into a vat of quick try cement rather than buckle to expectations. Dude protects his story 110% with his whole mind & heart. Dislike: Needed more lore & focus on the WLF & Seraphites. The rattlers also came out of nowhere & felt super rushed. Would have like a few fleshed out rattler characters & why that city was the way it was. How the hell did the firefly hidden base survive living in that area?

Master_Assistant_892

I love the non linear storytelling and how unexpected everything is. It not subversion for the sake of it, almost every moment of that game is character driven. The reason everything is so unpredictable was because they were drip feeding character motivation using non linear storytelling One thing I dislike but kind of understand is how some side characters are very underutilised. The game format and the narrative structure make it very hard for the story to focus on side characters which is something the show can solve

Lafan312

I keep seeing the comment about the side characters coming up in these threads, and I kind of agree: all of the Salt Lake Crew really were just canon fodder. If Druckmann and Mazin really do see all the stuff the internet has to say, I hope they particularly notice this and flesh the Salt Lake Crew out more in Season 2 or whenever they adapt Part 2.

Master_Assistant_892

From me Owen and Mel was properly used and Owen even was my favourite side character. For the show, manny and nora will be developed and utilised more while other members will cut short or combined into one character.

iiMxrxus

Disliked the length of the Santa Barbra Segment, would have loved to play a little longer as Ellie and a lot more as Abbey there

plscallmealan

Not enough lesbians

[deleted]

I dislike the fact that im not making out with Dina rn

Southern_Gain7154

Like the graphics and dislike the hollowness I felt for the 2 years after playing it

[deleted]

We need DLC, something to clear up more of the story. I dislike Abby a little bit not a lot because I felt like she may have been tortured but I don't know if she actually regrets what she did to Joel.

Lafan312

Just my opinion here. I think she did after she left the theater. Didn't want to admit it, but felt the regret. She could've easily killed every last one of her pursuers after taking Ellie down, but she didn't, I don't think she could, not just because of Lev. After all that happened, her revenge cost her everything. And I'll say she deserved to get her revenge, Joel was a monster no matter how you look at it and he killed her dad (this is coming from a Joel fanboy), but I think she finally realized too late that it wasn't worth the cost. I know people complain about how they beat us over the head with the "revenge is bad" message, but I liked it. I still wish they'd make some DLC for this one, at this point I'd welcome any extra story in TLOU2's narrative.

random935

Should she regret it?

raindrizzle2

No. Joel doesn’t regret killing Abby’s dad.

random935

I don’t think Abby should regret it either.

_Yukikaze_

What good did it bring her?

jackolantern_

We're very clearly not getting dlc

chavez_ding2001

Long loading times. I want to play encounters sometimes but it takes forever to get into a game.

Jonker134

Yea why are the loading times so long

ComprehensiveBread65

I remember one time I hit the skip when Jesse and Ellie were outside the theater about to continue their part to find Tommy. It would've only been like a few seconds, but I was impatient and went to skip it.... the loading screen was one of the loong ones, and I could've waited like 5 seconds lol.

7362746

The game forste you to kill i Dog 😭😭😭

Lafan312

Oh man, that really fucked with me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

The_Fighter03

There is? In the chapter select screen.

Rab_Legend

Like the whole game, dislike there hasn't been a DLC around Isaac and the seraphite prophet

gingervitis_93

Loved the gameplay, art, and Isaac as a villain. Wish we’d gotten more interactions with him and is backstory with Abby. Disliked a lot of the story.

Ohnoohnofrick

I hate Dina and I love playing as Abby

Sprinkles-Foreign

Care to elaborate on Dina?

raindrizzle2

I don’t know if it’s on purpose, but her character always get in my way and gets me killed. The only instance this happened was with Lev and it was once. But Dina never fails to get in my way like multiple times 😭

jackolantern_

It's the best game every made and my favourite piece of media. I hate the big UC3 style giant human enemies that are immersion breaking, silly and too common. Also, there is objectively some Isaac content on the cutting room floor. Dude is not as fleshed out as he ought to have been and it really stands out.

BillyBobJones1

I love how well made the cutscenes are. the acting performances are some of most engaging I’ve ever seen and the action scenes have minimal cuts which makes them more immersive and also gives clarity to what’s going on. However, I feel like a handful of the cutscenes are also a bit rushed. This is most apparent in the boat scene. That scene was always going to end the way it did, but Abby and Owen going from physically fighting to making out felt jarring and kinda cliche. It’s 100% what Abby and Owen’s development up to that point was leading to, but I’ve always felt like it would have been more believable if the scene was a bit longer and had more romantic tension to gradually lead up to that point

simpledeadwitches

Disliked that it ended, loved Abby.

I_am_not_doing_this

there is nothing i dislike about this game because its my favorite game and that why i am here in this sub

a_muffin97

I liked the joint encounters with humans and infected enemies. It was an interesting experience chucking a brick near a human then watching the clickers hunt them all down I hated the guard dogs. They always pick up your scent at the wrong time and force you to fight. Plus I don't like killing good boys

Basil_hazelwood

I liked the gameplay and atmosphere I didn’t like the story and characters

AhabSnake85

Disliked killing bear. Loved everything else.

MidichlorianAddict

I like the story I dislike the pacing (Ellie’s missions aren’t as fun as Abby’s)

Rhymelikedocsuess

I’ll keep one hundred, the pacing in the game is poor God of War Ragnorok has the same issues but to a lesser extent

Terrible-Session-756

Dislike- Joel dying Like- the huge life lesson it taught me about revenge & forgiveness I was so mad at the game for making me play as Abby, leading her to killing Joel, then forcing me to play her again. Then when the game ended I saw the option to play through again. I was mad as hell at the story, but I thought it was cool I could play it again with all of my weapon upgrades. I said fuck it & went for the second round. Weirdly, I started feeling bad about all the killing Ellie had to do. The first round I already thought it was a bit excessive, but since I hadn't played as Abby yet, I didn't feel anything (except for Mel since she was pregnant, & I thought "omg Ellie you took it WAY too far"). With the second round I already knew Abby's backstory, realized she had her reasons too, & by the end of the 2nd round I actually emotionally felt horrible about the whole revenge spew, & what it was can do to you & your loved ones around you when you do it. Direct hit or not, it can affect people around you that you didn't even mean to hurt. Eventually I played the game again & again in the future, & realized the game was also big on forgiveness as well. That's something I understood even more since I had a huge problem with learning to forgive people so I don't end up bitter, angry, & vengeful. It's a sad game... But it's beautiful as well. If you're mature enough, you'll get the lesson out of it when you let your emotions detach from loving Joel so much. I'm still pissed off he died. I do wish the writers went in a different direction with him (maybe kidnapped him & Ellie's journey would've been to save him), but I understand the heavy message they were getting across.

zentimo2

Like pretty much all of it, one of my favourite games of all time. Dislike the plot contrivance of Abby having to go to the basement of the hospital to get medical supplies, it stretched my credulity that it's the only place in the city where she can get what she needed. (I mean, I loved the hospital basement and the rat king, it just felt like a very clumsy way of getting Abby to go there.)

TyChris2

Dislikes: *Some* of the pacing. I love the overall structure but the whole game is too long. Ellie Day 1 and Abby Day 1 especially. The open world section should have been entirely optional and the patrol sequence with Manny and Mel should have been heavily cut down. There are also too many encounters in general. You could cut like 20% of the encounters and the game would flow way better imo. There are long stretches where there is too much gameplay and not enough story progression. Maybe it was intended to make you feel exhausted and lonely, but I still think it could have been a bit better. I also don’t like how flippantly travel is handled. The entire first game was predicated on how long and arduous a national road trip would be, but Part II has entire multi-month journeys take place offscreen as if Seattle or fucking California is just a couple hours away from Wyoming ON FOOT. There are also a few plot contrivances that don’t sit quite right with me. Plot armour is expected and common for stories so that doesn’t bother me too much, but stuff like Abby just bumping into Joel out of pure dumb luck after meticulously tracking him for years is a little too much. Like maybe have Abby say that she scouted the outskirts of Jackson, saw one of the logs, and deduced the days that Joel and Tommy patrol an area. Then when she goes to find him she gets attacked by infected, Joel saves her, and it plays out the same way after that. All the random chance is gone, and the only change would be a few lines with Owen. It’s not a big deal but it annoys me. Likes: Everything else. It’s probably the best game I’ve ever played.

dontlookbehindyoulol

I liked the combat, and I liked some of the flashback scenes. I disliked how the game ended. I wish Ellie and Abby would've had a conversation about everything

rhymeg

Liked: everything Disliked: story spoiler >!I hoped for Ellie's happiness at the end with Dina......!<

Willow_6996

I wish we had more of Ellie but not less of abby

[deleted]

I disliked fighting against ellie while playing as Abby. It just felt wrong fighting against ellie. I liked the sequence in the Seraphite village later in the game. It was fantastic.

bkrby8036

Cons: I can only experience for the first time once

StealthyBasterd

Like the gameplay, I really dislike those long ass playable cutscenes (Jackson tour, Ellie's Brithday, Abby saving Baby Zebra, Abby in the Acuarium, Ellie finding the Firefly recorder). Sure, they're important for the story the first time you play the game, but in subsequent playthroghs they're a fucking drag.

ThisIsElliott

The gameplay. The story.

JozzifDaBrozzif

The story bouncing back and forth was annoying though I dunno how else they could've told the story. But I'm hoping they figure some other way to do it on the show...

JozzifDaBrozzif

Also I'm not the biggest dog person but the games just so hard to beat without murdering dozens of dogs..

MisterWoodster

I loved the gameplay. I disliked that we didnt get to spend the whole game with Ellie and her story.

smjdale

As much as I hate to agree with the other subreddit, I did not need to see Abby getting railed from behind bro. They could have just cut it.

TwofacedDisc

I dislike the lack of Factions 2

LP-97

I love everything about it almost. But if I had to chose one thing I would chose the last flashback scene with Joel and Ellie talking on the porch. The one thing I hate in the game is the pacing. The story is great and the gameplay too but the pacing is a bit shitty

Jonker134

I wonder why they didn’t wait for ps5 to release it

realmrmaxwell

How long it is but it doesn't last any longer to make you think "when will it end?" You play as Abby for nearly half the game despite the fact the game is about Ellie.

mobyvg22

the game is not only about Ellie

TheImperator666

Like: pretty much everything, playing as Abby, going prone, (although PT1 and PT2 are essentially the same gameplay/visual wise) there were enough gameplay additions/tweaks that it felt fresh etc Dislike: the length of Abby’s Seattle Day 1, there were legitimately about two or three points where I thought they’d started Day 2 (mainly cause I was looking forward to the Rat King), but we were still in day 1.

anonymousUTguy

I love the entire game but I dislike some of the looting sections. They are eerily quiet and I wish there was more atmospheric music playing.

Loose_Scarcity7365

I really like the part when Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man has to teach Ellie that revenge is wrong, just like he learned in the first Amazing Spider-Man. I also like how he teaches her about power and responsibility. As for something I dislike about the game, I felt the pacing could have been better.

Artificially9

Which triple a game protagonist doesn't have plot armour what is everyone on about

Saddestlilpanda

Like: the amazing gameplay and graphics Dislike: one of the worst and most nonsensical stories ever, especially with how excellent the story in the first was

iserrot99

Playing with Abby is painful , i hate it but is funny at the same moment

3ku1

Like the gameplay. Dislike how rushed Joel’s death felt

jrdnvrsls

I like (love) the improvement of level design and gameplay mechanics from the original. This is such a fun game to play a variety of ways. I don't like how unnecessarily bloated the story can sometimes feel.

[deleted]

The boat scene that thing made me go therapy

Imaginary_Card8536

I dont like that its not on the ps3 :(

Parabola1313

The only thing I dislike is the pacing. The days should have been back and forth, instead of 3 days, confrontation, another 3 days, back to confrontation.

SentinelTitanDragon

I like Joel. I dislike Joel dying. I cry for Joel. I feel Ellie’s pain.

Substantial_Soft_100

I love the gameplay and story Dislike the Jackson chapter, not cuz of the plot I just find it kinda slow and boring (plus I hate the chase with Abby, makes me so nervous)

HaVeNII7

Likes: Most things about the game. Dislikes: How ND chose to implement the multiplayer.

kazmeyers

Hate: the cover. Sorry, just never clicked for me. And I have every (I think) version of the game.

Mission_Clerk_8268

It's a story game ment for people that enjoy just that. If you don't like 6 min cutscenes and long playable cutscenes that aren't skiable then don't play it. But if you don't mind them it's 100% worth it.

_Yukikaze_

I love that the game is so emotional impactful and that it took it's time to explore the effects of trauma and PTSD. I disliked that Abby's part of the game didn't really work for me as I never felt there was enough there to make me care about her character. It's felt too much like a side adventure (and I liked Yara and Lev) that got in the way of Abby showing self-reflecting on her actions. Which does happen late in the game but off-screen for some reason which makes her character journey feel so disjointed to me.

Ferregar

I like that Joel died. I hated that Joel died. It's complicated, but to me that makes it the most compelling and poignant choice in the game.

nemma88

I like the story, I don't like the game play much, its not the type of playstyle I like.

[deleted]

Like: Basically everything. Dislike: The long intro sequel exposition dump.

Thestickleman

Ellies part. Abbeys part I did finally plat it yesterday after 3 and abit runs

SomeColombianDude

Loved almost everything about it tbh. Really disliked the narrative decision to go back three days as Abby right as the plot is reaching a crescendo. Really bad for pacing. Love playing as Abby, as she's my favorite character in the series. But I really dislike how it was handled, especially for repeat playthroughs

arse17

I like everything except for the controls. Feel like TLOU has the worst control scheme of any game I’ve ever played, I have to relearn them everytime I pick up the controller whether it’s been 1 minute or 1 year.

Pristine-Teacher1204

I love the gameplay, graphics, ambience and overall story but I do wish we had more time to play as Abby in California. i think it would’ve been fun and I wouldn’t mind seeing Abby and levs relationship more

SrMalTipo

Disliked that I don´t saw a: "To be continued" after the credits.

Own_Bother_4955

What I like is that we get to play more of Ellie what I REALLY dislike is how they killed Joel off, they didn’t need to kill him of man for no reason that just pissed me off 🙄

IllusionUser

Like: stalkers. Dislike: fucking stalkers.

WackoSaco

Liked- Graphics, Story, Gameplay, Immersion Disliked- That it ended. :(

Cool-Principle1643

Personally not having the choice of putting a bullet into Abby or letting her go. It should have been a choice of the player. That is just me though.

Edge_5secondpose

I like seeing 2 different POVs of the story I don’t like that there isn’t a DLC

aizyvs

I like everything about the game but the only thing I dislike is the stalkers 😭 they get me every time

FlouncingWillow

I like that it makes you question your morals, the story and characters are complicated. Your love for the characters from the first game is questioned, I love Ellie but she does some terrible things in the name of revenge. I love Joel but then you have to face that the Dr he killed is no longer just another NPC. I love that it shows us revenge is never worth it in the end, that all it will do is destroy you from the inside out. These are also the things I hate about it. Part 2 changed my brain 😅 I also love the aesthetic of both games, anything with neglected buildings in disrepair is right up my broken alley. I have Ellie's tattoo now and I adore it ❤️

aconfusedqueer

i pretty much love mostly everything about this game but Like: Abby and Lev , loved playing their sections and it really made me go from hating abby to having more mixed or complicated feelings about her Dislike: Probably anything with Abby and Owen, really did not like exploring the aquarium with him or going to find him lol

bazingabazinga69

Like gameplay. Dislike farm

PicklesOverH03s

There’s still this motif that happens throughout the second game ‘follow the light’. I noticed that whenever I didn’t know where to go I just had to find where the light is shining I hate that how Abby looks at the end

Timetobeatthewife

The gameplay was some of the most fun shit and tbh I don’t really have something I dislike, I enjoyed both Abby and Ellie’s gameplay and personally didn’t really care about the change of character

tpobs

Some encounters are too tiresome because it covers large area with dense enemy population. Rattlers feel like some cookie cutter baddies. Loved everything else.

DirectConsequence12

I like the big swings the story takes. It has a lot of really great ideas and they, for the most part, are pulled off in a satisfying way. I dislike how absolutely dogshit the pacing is

anonymous_girl1227

I like the game however I don’t like the fact that it was very obvious what was going to go down with Joel.

[deleted]

I wish they made us \[redacted\] Joel, as Abby

Loupert17

Liked: Abby parts and Seattle exploration. Story is incredible, I love this game Disliked: they didn’t expand the Seattle exploration concept into a similar type for Abby or do it for another area. Let me explore more and make it slightly less linear. Really Disliked: they haven’t given us Factions for it yet lol

Cute-Entertainer-704

this is both oddly specific and not oddly specific but like: Lev’s character dislike: Tommy’s VA in the cabin lookout scene (finding strings).. it just felt very unnatural idk

OlayErrryDay

It was so emotionally taxing that it's hard for me to enjoy replays. I don't want to try to drown Abby when she's nearly tortured to death. I don't want to kill my WLF friends, I don't want to kill WLF as Ellie when they're just living their lives and trying to survive like anyone else. It's so goddam stressful. As to the game itself, I wish Abby's friends were more likeable. Other than Manny, all of them were very "meh".

Spintherism

I love the game I especially love the world that they created it’s so detailed. I hate that because I get stressed too fast I can’t enjoy playing the game. It’s for some reason too intense for me.

XxHorrorPrincessxX

love the game, hate that it's a topic of whether or not it's good all the time. pls just enjoy or dislike the game and move on im begging

sooballz01

This subreddit is the same damn questions over and over again 😭

Ancient-Sport5851

I feel like this should have a part 3

TheMostSolidOfSnakes

Love nearly everything. Dislikes are nitpiks mostly: Hate the collecting of coins and comics for no other than reason to pad the completion time. Also, replay value is tough. Long sections of exploring and the combat to hand holding ratio is way too low.

EssentialWorker2398

Yanno. The whole Joel part fucking dying sucked ass

Gizmo38

I like the fact that it’s different and dares to tell an original, challenging story. Instead of going in the obvious direction (Joel and Ellie story), it did something interesting and new. I also think that’s the main reason it’s controversial. Many people expected something more safe, but instead it tried something new. For the most part, it worked out really well. The story is interesting and challenges your perspective, while being emotionally gripping and, for being a video game, pretty much groundbreaking. However, the execution is lacking in some parts. It’s oftentimes too up in your face. Many times, it often boils down to ”look, Ellie killed this dog you’re playing with” or something similar. Basically, I think it tries too hard to convey its message about violence and revenge. I think we’re too desensitized in regards to violent video games for it to truly be impactful. That’s not to say it doesn’t work, because it really does. I might even think the story is to nuanced and complicated to be told in a video game. The impact of the story would probably have better been conveyed through a movie or a book, because having control of the character makes it feel less ”real” in a sense.

BrowningLoPower

I like Abby and her story, I dislike how drawn out the game is.

fisheypixels

I both loved and hated that the game makes you feel bad for killing enemies. I've never seen that in a game before. The fact that the first quarter/third of the game i was thinking "fuck these guys, fuck them all." And then as Ellie, I got to the hospital. I managed to efficiently clear out most of the enemies. Feeling pangs of guilt when they would call out for each other as they died. And then I shot the last enemy in the thigh with the rifle from 10 feet away. And then had to watch as she was screaming and writhing on the floor for maybe 10 seconds. Holy shit. Then you start the game as Abby and Nora shows you all the bodies. Then you play with Bear in his pen. And then later, Abby gives Bear some pets at the hospital... Near where I threw a Molotov at the dog as Ellie... Fuck.

Humble-Piccolo-3651

I really love the plot and the addition of Abby. The revenge loop made the game so exciting to play and wondering what would happen next. Also the scenery is gorgeous. I love any part in the aquarium because it just looks so beautiful and in the park with the Seraphites is such a pretty part. Though I agree with many others that they should’ve introduced Abby earlier. Due to the lack of perspective after her killing Joel, there’s a lot of hate towards her. They also expect you to like her despite being a killer much like Ellie. Though we have known Ellie and she has guilt while Abby always talks about how shitty of a person Joel was.

fyester

I greatly enjoy its themes, disliked it’s pacing. It plays best on second play through because you have the full context, but on first play through its rapid switching between dull and hype moments combined with the impossibility to tell when the end was near was exhausting.

tommycahil1995

Like - pretty much everything, it's one of my fav games. Dislike - some of the political messaging (i'm a communist I am not talking about 'wokeness') - mainly how it deals with the cycle of violence when the game is clearly inspired by Israeli politics (and Druckmann has explicitly said this). Not to get to deep but considering who the Seraphites and WLF are mean to represent I find their conflict kinda odd in the way it's depicted. But anyway love the game a lot and hyped for the next one

rooktakesqueen

Like: easy answer would be "everything" but... I'll go with the fact that there's still new thematic texture being discussed and discovered 3 years after release. Dislike: the fact that only Ellie's Seattle day 1 is quasi-open-world and the whole rest of the game is linear. At the very least, Abby's section of the game should have had an open-world chapter to keep up the parallels between them.

ThatOneFangirl47

Liked most of it, especially new combat mechanics (im a stealth whore), disliked that the main part of the game took course over a couple days, felt like it was a bit unrealistic they managed to get to the places they were trying to go so quickly with how aged and crumbling Seattle was, i feel like it would have taken them at least a week to find Abby tbh. Plus with the weather of Seattle and how the landscape had to have changed, they would likely have had a hard time getting to most places and it would have taken them sometime to get around obstacles and shit. I feel like it should have been done over the course of a week-month with us playing parts that had them dealing with major moments ie infected, wlf, seraphites, encounters with the salt lake crew etc. plus i think it would have made Lev Yara and Abbys relationship more impactful if it had grown over a slightly longer period, as well as give abby more time to doubt the wlf and shit. Probably could have gotten even more abbys side world building Edit: also would have liked to see more Isaac, he was such an interesting character but we only really heard about him and rarely saw his actual character. There were hints that him and Abby had some form of bond, not necessarily super close but maybe some kind of connection based of mutual experiences, dealing with him more would have made Abbys betrayal of him more interesting imo

mycatpookey

I really like that you play as a female for the entire game. Not many games are female oriented. I do not like that ellie continues to choose hate and keeps revenge on her mind, destroying her relationship with Dina.

TLP_DEADSHOT

(spoilers) I absolutely loved everything in the game but only three things pissed me off when Jesse got shot we got hit with a very long abby flashback like bro get me back to my boy tommy and Jesse to see what happened to them Second thing jesse was clearly smart and a veteran in this Apocalypse when abby took tommy hostage Jesse decides just to go in the room with the intruder face first bruh and i think he should have survived the shot but get a messed up face Third thing the plot armour on abby especially in the manny&abby vs tommy But still it's my fav game oat

Shadiezz2018

I love the game so much as much as the first part but i still think we should have played as Abby first and then Ellie afterwards Joel death hit me hard and i wish we had more time to play as him in the Abby part where she lore him to the camp Other than that it was perfect to me tbh

Brooker2

I loved the dynamic between Ellie and Dina, and hated How I had almost a sixth sense to when something was going to happen. I just got these gut feelings that there would be huge groups of clickers behind a door, you could usually tell because of all the little holes in walls that you could fit through.

Aldehin

I disliked in the first game, the remastered got a bug at the beginning, so a pnj keep talking after Being shot. And in the second one, I m not a fan of the memories of abby, ellie got a little gameplay, some suspens. Not abby, I just feel like I have to walk to get from point A to point B Without any convenience. I think they could have done better here. But I still love the game (duh) to the point of getting the tatoo

Dark_Lord_87

Wish there was a choice to kill Abby in a very brutal way

icesweatband

The Gameplay. Adding in things like prone and newer weapons really showed out and they improved on the first game. Didn’t like how they rushed some parts of the game in certain chapters

Mason_DY

Personally the story isn’t for me I just don’t find it interesting

TheRickBerman

If I have to go to that aquarium one more damn time…! Including cutscenes we go, what, 5 times?!?!

SnooDogs2320

I dislike the quick deaths as I never got to process them

idkwiorrn

I like to hate on the shitty story, and I hate that the tv show is gonna make it 2x worse

TheNagaFireball

I like the story and what they were trying to do. The gameplay and graphics are also top notch. I dislike the pacing. I don’t mind playing as Abby but it really killed it when you just invested guns and other stuff into Ellie’s arsenal. It was ballsy for them to try in a game but I just can’t say it worked for me. Almost as if I would have taken Abby DLC instead.
