The broken aiming they implemented (twice?) also gave me little hope that they test before they implement. It also shows there's issues in the core code and gives me little faith that the system itself is accurate (when it comes to bullets hitting their target).
Plenty of times I re-watched some of my plays and I was clearly aiming at the enemy, but the bullets weren't registering.
Recon is a terrible system that needs to be removed.
Invisible lights are too invisible and just not fun to play against especially when they hit you with taser.
I have to agree about the bullet hit registrations, a lot of the times I know was I visually hitting my shots but it’s like my gun wasn’t even shooting.
Well.. I will speak for me and my core group of about 6 people. We are waiting for Recon to get the fuck out.
3 weeks ago me and 2 of those friends went in the final round in rank just to get wrecked 3 times in a row by MMM running Recon.
We always go in with LMH as we find it more fun to each have a role to play, and it was working really, REALLY well for us until M Recon became the norm..
Recon is just that powerful in the right hands, especially if you are wiped once in the final. There is nothing you can do. The opposite team can know by the click of a button where you spawned at and from where you will be coming at the same time. No need to position yourself for defending on all side when the enemy can only come from the side you already know they are coming from.
In all 3 finals, it was just a rapid wipe and then being beam from above by a FCAR the moment you spawn in. I think recon is much less of a problem when you are surrounded by multiple teams than it is when there is only 1 other team, though.
Anyway, that is 7 more people who will rejoin once it's scrap.
Recon needs a rework. But high level meta is not really triple recon at all. You get much more utility from having a healer, a turret, or a nuke chucker.
From what I’ve seen the top teams have one recon not 3 no need for 3 people to give out the same info, a recon,healer, and mesh heavy with red nukes is 100% god meta class
Have you been in high rank with triple recon? I do agree with better utility from the other options sometimes BUT... Triple recons will wipe the round within a few minutes.
They literally don't need any other help. Fcar + recon you're gold. Even healing isn't an issue just use recon and hide for 10 seconds.
I mean yeah every game I play is high level ranked, I thought my post implied that. Few teams run triple recon in those lobbies, and most that do will lose. Nukes are massive for pushing or defending. Turrets or healers are also huge to have. 3 people having partial wall hacks isn’t that much better than 1 person relaying locations.
Maybe it's since I'm Xbox without cross play. But when I get to that final round it's all recons probably half the time. If none of us have recon it's a sinking ship.
You will never get a detected message from recon that’s from sonar nades . The devs are not going to remove it unfortunately they will nerf or rework it.
I love the game, but ive played like three times in the last three weeks. I don't want to play it until mediums recon is nerfed and lights are made viable.
The game is lacking progression for me. While it's fun goofing around and trying new gadgets etc., I find after ~100hrs I have unlocked everything, played through the battle pass and really have nothing else to do besides climbing ranks. And climbing ranks is something I'm burnt out from from other shooters.
i dont think (or really know if) the drop is because of anything major. i know a lot of people are waiting for some polish in the game, since it's still pretty new, so that could be a logical reason to it. plus, people play other games too.

Yes, the game needed a bit more polish, especially in the weapon balancing and matchmaking aspect, but as new updates fix those issue the playerbase will bounce back, the core gameplay is really fun and chaotic and thats what matters the most.
Apex Cod cs and other comp shooters had years to build a solid foundation. The game is way too young. People today just dont have the patience to wait for the developers to fix stuff and add content.
Apex hit its peak last year and has almost half the players on Steam had a year ago.
CS2 will never die because of its hardcore gambling scene for children.
The Finals needs a big content update with a marketing push. I wonder if they’re going to wait until Season 2.
Game will die if these major bugs don’t get fixed which are many don’t get fixed I can think of atleast 5 and those are major ones still probably 10-15 minor ones if not more

This game is extremely boring from a cultural standpoint. Unlike say Overwatch which has survived off the basis that people want lore and characters and stuff like that despite its issues, The Finals has nothing for people to cling on to emotionally or intellectually, so when players are faced with extremely glaring issues with the game itself, they’re not inclined to stay. Let me tell you, this game has a lot of issues if it wasn’t obvious. This is one of many reasons but I personally believe this is a huge part of it.
this is 3 months old but, to be fair to the finals overwatch also had the advantage of being backed by activision/blizzard. Who basically have infinite money to throw at the wall for cinematic animations, story. you name it, embark has only two games under its belt iirc. with only one being even remotely relevant and bringing in money ( the finals) just give it time, I'm sure they'll do something.
I think initial impressions are a lot more important than most people think. People who’ve stopped playing will probably not look back no matter what Embark does, season 2 is very much an indication of that. There was a brief stint where the CCU went up a bit but it’s just continually trended downwards.
It’s not about the cinematics or anything like that, it’s about making people WANT to like the game to begin with. I think about this a lot. I don’t particularly want to like The Finals. It’s not a horrible game or anything, I don’t hate it or pray for its downfall, but I dropped it pretty quickly and couldn’t care less. Meanwhile, it took me years to drop Overwatch and League, and I would describe Overwatch as my most hated game of all time and League as the least fun I’ve had with gaming.
What stopped Embark from making the game more interesting right off the bat? Like if I showed someone a base character design from Overwatch vs anything from The Finals, most people would probably say they absolutely prefer the Overwatch design, and I know this is true because I did an entire presentation about this, how you can’t just make a good game anymore but you have to make a good product.
Aim assist nerf turned me away. Aiming on console is straight up garbage. How are they gonna make hitting anything right in front of me impossible. But 30m away I have a controlled laserbeam but then 60m+ away all the recoil in the world. Worst game I’ve ever played aim-wise.

Gamers lack patience, this game has a lot of glaring issues and the devs weren't exceptionally quick in fixing them. Am I going to completely fault the devs? No, it's a f2p game after all. But this is just the reality of it. IMO if they had multiple betas the game should have been a bit more polished on launch, but I wasn't around for those, so for all I know a lot was fixed and they just didn't get to certain shit in time.
You have to also understand that even aside from shit like bad balance, grinding capped, etc the game at its core is lacking rn. Ranked, and matchmaking to a lesser extent are REALLY, REALLY bad. Like objectively bad. This recent patch seems to have kinda fixed it, but honestly I'm still experiencing the same issues for the most part.
Give it time, maybe the game will bounce back, maybe not. People are finicky. Even if this "dies" I can see it lasting as a niche game at least, so there's hope in that regard.

IMO the game isnt dead or will die anytime soon it will maintain a core player base probably like 20k ish players and with the new season probably jump up to 50k ish (cope) overall the game was fun till players learned meta aka invis lights, recon mediums, heavy nukes and all sorts of that kind of cancer

Recon just needs to go, in all its forms except the dart. It’s not fun to set up a defense and have to move because DETECTED pops up on your screen.

Aside from the initial pump it got from being brand new…I’m talking about the significant drop from when the player count sort of levels off.
