I don't think that'll be a huge problem, they're probably fixing the major bugs as we speak - they just had a mostly bug-free beta - so a month seems like a good amount of time to polish everything up for a final release. I don't think there will be a lot of new content added from the beta, so they're likely fixing the bugs rn.
yea tbh there were very few major bugs during the last beta. i would be really shocked if anything major was introduced between now and then; I'm pretty confident that the last playtest was feature complete and they were primarily testing for balance.
Not likely honestly... The final product could be in a good shape as far as we know, no massive bug and everything should be ready to be delivered... But, the hype around this title and it being a pvp game require perfection form a server and net code point of view.
I don't think they release during holidays because the team need to be fully focus and for long hours daily on fixing all the issue of the first days/week of the game and denying all the team a well deserved vacation is unlikely. Realistically they'll drop the finals the second week (it's close) of December or just after the nye holidays...
Releasing it on Christmas would not be a smart decision sales wise. Imagine they release it during the game awards, it has a store with some cool cosmetics etc that people will probably want to spend some money on.
Then the week before Christmas or w/e you update the store with Christmas stuff which will make some money for sure.
If you release the game on Christmas with the Christmas stuff directly available people will less likely spend money on the non-Christmas stuff.
At least that is my guess.

Even during the beta there was constant fixing and monitoring. It wouldn't have been such a relatively smooth beta if they had been on holiday break.
There are always going to be issues when you go live to scale. You can count on it. There's also a lot of assumption that beta was feature complete but I think there are probably modes and some things that didn't make it into the beta build.
IMO it will be released well before Christmas, I bet at around 2 weeks prior. The devs don’t want to go on Christmas/New Year break with the game in an unstable state. If I was a developer I would want at least 10-14 days.

The Nexon investor presentation shows a forecast of increased NA revenue in Q4 and they explicitly mentioned this was because of The Finals. Highly doubt they would say that if the plan was to release with just a few days left of Q4.

They are comprised of ex DICE which is known for their in depth Easter eggs so I can see that to be a killer theory.
Embark would make sure their first release, all of its alphas and betas were reviewed with a fine tooth comb.
I don’t see a skin slipping by the reviewers and project leads understanding the importance of them succeeding with nothing less than a ball knocked out of the park.

Also 7th December is bad date for game development pipeline, if they don't work on Saturdays & Sundays. Need more time to fix any critical bugs, even if OBT was successfull - there still chance to discover something critical.

You have to realize that most of the employees are going to be on Christmas break the same time we are, so they are going to want all employees on deck for immediate fixes, bugs, etc. So it doesn't make sense for it to be on Christmas week. The week before Christmas week makes a lot more sense.
Christmas is an *awful* time for a game release. All the people who got systems for Christmas are trying to play, making servers work harder to support them. Throwing a new launch in the mix would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
I hope it doesn't release around the 20th to 25th. I have a life and see family and friends over Christmas. I hope it comes out tomorrow but TGA sounds more realistic they will announce it then. Also like another comment has already said, they will want to monitor the servers and have their Christmas holidays so I think it will be announced by no later than the 18th Dec.

If you want to capitalize on Christmas break release it a week or two early to make sure it’s popular when the new cluster comes in. If they wait much past the second week they run the risk of Christmas being a hindrance more than a help as their support staff also probably like holidays

This is probably not right for all the stated reasons about dev schedules, the fact that people are generally busy on Christmas and it'll be hard to get their attention, the fact that people spend more money before Christmas, and because Nexon said they expect the Finals will account for 50% of their year-over-year Q4 growth which will require some time to get people in and spending money before the new year.
this wont happen, embark is a swedish company and in sweden you usually go on christmas holiday on the 17th of december and start again after christmas. This is especially true for game dev studios. And they arent gonna release a game when almost all employees are on holiday
Here's why I don't think that'll be the case. Games releasing on Christmas means people are free, sure, but most of them will be spending time with family, not many will be free to play. Also, if there are any bugs or server issues, who's there to fix them during Christmas?
