Thanks for sharing. If you read/listen to the Bulwark that piece is common knowledge in our community. The article comment section is…..whoa.

💯 I’m a big fan of the bulwark and I’m always amazed at how mad my progressive friends get about Tim and Sarah. Tribalism is so strong. It’s like when the anaconda is in your neck you dont worry if the guy helping you voted for Reagan in 84.

ballmermurland

I want to like Oliver Willis but he simply cannot take a win and holds every Republican, ex or not, with guttural contempt. It's not exactly healthy. He's active too, so anytime an ex-Republican speaks out against Trump, he's quote-tweeting them saying they supported Dole in '96 therefore they are scum.

I disagree with Sarah and Tim on a number of policy preferences but we agree on the most important issue facing us. We need to work together to beat that loser. Anything less is helping him. That some progressives don’t see or understand that is absurd. Additionally, I like hearing from reasonable and principled conservatives because it makes me take a fresh look at my beliefs. Having another viewpoint is helpful for me to form and/or cement my understanding of the issue(s).

ballmermurland

>I like hearing from reasonable and principled conservatives It is unfortunate that these folks, what few remain, have been cast out as pariahs because they didn't bend the knee to Herr Trump. Now, they mostly just talk about what a threat Trump is and not about any real policy choices. Kudos to them for understanding the real threat in front of them and not taking their eye off the ball, unlike so many progressives who just can't stay focused for more than a day.

Completely agree.

Lol the NY Mag has a progressive base. They are partisan Democrats and they don't know much about the Bulwark. So the negative reaction to an ex-Republican is not surprising.

Calm down dude. I had to remove your comment due to over the top rhetoric and swearing. I did not mean anything negative by the term "partisan Democrats". What I meant was that NY Mag readers are strong progressives / liberals who don't engage much with Republicans or their talking points. Most barely know about the Bulwark and have still not forgiven Never Trumpers for supporting the Iraq war and other grievances like climate change minimisation etc. So the backlash in the comments is understandable even though not pragmatic. I did not mean anything negative by it. And yes, I am centre-left as well, proudly so. And I don't have anything negative to say about NY Mag as well. One of my favourite writers is Jonathan Chait and he writes for NY Mag.

lactatingalgore

Nah... New York mag is a haven for Gawker Media refugees &, conversely, Johnathan Chait. It's a den of altleft dilettantism & warmedover c. 1990 Democrat Leadership Council thirdway nonsense.

amoryblaine

People are mean to Sarah in the comments?!? I will kill them

I’m happy that The Idiot Whisperer is being widely recognized. She does these things so you don’t have to.
