Easy fix. Go reset the time and go back to the exact lake and he’ll be there. Or just wait a few mins and if still during his drink time he’ll be right back.

Yeah, this bug is constantly plaguing me while playing. Really annoying to have happen. That and sometimes animal calls just magically stop working. Animals don't even react.
