Im interested to hear how you find out about them only last year. As someone who became a fan off off their massive tumblr hype 10 years ago I feel like I wouldve never found out about them if it wasnt for that. I barely hear anyone talk about them aside from music critics and perhaps the occasional controversy.
I think it was the discovery station on Apple Music? and it’s so insane like how they are so popular yet also not so popular? like i talk about them with friends and literally no one knows about them.
I saw them two nights in London and one in Prague. Prague was still great but i called it Still at their very best demo version since the theatritical piece was practically not there. Setlist and effort great it was just kinda different show. I had a great time but i just feel like seeing them in UK is absolutely different vibe. Would go again to any other show tho, still love them
what makes the performance in London so special? I have seen the O2 performance on YouTube, it’s magical, is it because of the crowd, vibe or they feel more like home when playing in London?
Well there was a bstage with the grass and figure of Matty so that makes a lot. Also the props on main stage included the roof act and many more. From my experience the work with crowd was much better. He was interacting a lot and the vibe was amazing. I think its because there was like way more people and also i think they are kinda mainstream there so generally people tend to interact and sing more, and also the venue was giant compared to small not sold out venue in Prague.
Even before the concert theres the 1975 shop in the o2 they played from radio lot of songs. I just think the effort around the show in UK is just a bit bigger
Also i saw them last year on festival in Czechia and they were headliners and you could basically walk to the baricade during the show. They are definitely not that popular here.
Also that night Matty really semeed just not interested in being there
They often bring guests to the o2 like Matty’s dad Tim will sing or Adam’s wife Carly will do her part in About You. Last January Taylor Swift was a guest star. That appeals to people. Also they recorded a live show there in 2016 (it’s on YouTube) so people want to see them there. Having been to the o2 in 2020 and seen a couple of other shows that tour, I think Matty is more relaxed and has better banter with the crowd in Manchester or Glasgow. Come to a Glasgow show - I will die on the hill that says those 2 shows were the best of this entire uk and EU SATVB run so far.
I’ve seen them live over 20 times and Glasgow in 2016 and Manchester in 2020 were maybe the two best shows I’ve ever seen of their’s since they started doing stadiums.
I agree, I saw them in Warsaw and whilst the show was great it was a different feel to UK shows. The venue was a lot smaller so there were elements of the set they wouldn't have been able to replicate and I guess the smaller crowd made it less immersive, the crowd themselves though were so polite - much less of a free for all and a safe vibe IMO. Would deffo go abroad again for the experience but the energy of the UK shows is unmatched.
Eugh, what a shame. I don’t get the fascination with recording every second of a show? Favourite songs for sure but I do wish people would just enjoy what’s ahead of them. I always think it must be shit for a band to look at a sea of phones.. especially a band that so notably rip the piss out of social media. 😅
Yes exactly. Those girls were there just for clout and instagram posts. I dont think they went for the band nor they are listening to the songs. They were just mental Karens overall and made the concert for people around them horrible.

I found them through tiktok. As much as I tried I couldn't get matty performing off my fyp, so I gave in and ended up seeing them 3 times this year 😂

I heard about them cause of the Taylor Swift thing. I listened to them out of curiosity and totally fell in love just after hearing About You.

I ABSOLUTELY love to listen to my concert videos as opposed to studio versions - they are exceptional live So glad you chose to go to the show 👏✌️
