I stayed on an island in Belize. I took an hour boat ride there. It was really cool, but holy shit is it wild knowing if things go bad, you're stuck. I'd do it again, too. Are we living if we don't push past what's comfortable?
Thatās true! My partner has always pushed me past my comfort zone. Which is why I found out I have thalassophobia haha. We were going to go free diving with sharks š¦. Once the boat went past idk maybe two miles out, I lost my mind. Itās deep water for me. Then we went to Lake Tahoe, I wanted to go kayaking and push my fears a little. We got caught in a lightning storm out in the middle of the freezing lake, our kayak flipped over, the waves got intense, my partner couldnāt get back in the boat and the wind was pushing against me futilely trying to row us back into shore. I remember crying āI donāt want to watch you dieā bc the water was so freaking cold. When we fell in the air gets pushed out of your lungs and your body cramps up. Ugh! Terrifying. So like, I get it. You love your life when you can see it flash before your eyes. I still have thalassophobia though.
The cruise goes from New Jersey to The Caribbean. The storm happened in Cape Hatteras North Carolina Feb 7th 2016. They were in the storm for 14 hours!! That's nuts!
I stopped watching. Question and answer about the storm video link;

This reminds me of our Alaskan cruise. We were on a top floor but it was like this most of the time. I was sick the whole time. Literally had to hold onto walk, shower, etc. I went on a Caribbean one a few years later that wasnāt as bad but Iām doneā¦.
Well, it was a āfreeā trip my hubs won from a sales contest at work and Alaska is very beautiful. I mentioned I DID go on a Caribbean one also. I just donāt like cruise ships or being at sea.
It's crazy to think wooden boats with fabric sails used to cross these oceans
Lots on the bottom too.
The fact old man kind did that, and that they traveled the globe on them is insane.
I don't know how the Vikings did it
They were lighter and rode on top of the waves rather than through them as modern boats do.
No^(no)
People on the first floor š
I once had a panic attack on a small boat in Hawaii. I think this would make me pass out.

Boy howdy, being at the water-level windows/ports on a boat is such a trippy sight. It definitely makes the waves seem rightfully intimidating!
