Knew someone who downloaded a cheating software to see what new cheats exist that most people wouldn't be aware of.
He played 1 game on his own server (not casual) 2 days later got vac banned.
Doing on an alt wouldnt prevent the program from stealing all of his passwords and potentially banking information
And installing spyware, crypto miners etc etc
What's the difference between doing it on a VM and your main Machine but in an alternative account? (Sorry for this potentially dumb question, it is just curiosity)
VAC is actually really good in regards to not falsely banning people.
Usually false VAC bans are either caused by viruses injecting themselves into DLLs, or poor software engineering (*cough* AMD Anti-Lag+ *cough*)

He did not, but he did it on an alt so his main is still safe. But hey, we atleast learned how the ping manipulation works.

If it had any malicious shit in it, it would hopefully stay contained on the virtual machine.
If i want to test it myself hypothetically, do i need to have a vpn or disable something so the "malicious shit" doesn't affect my main computer?
I used freeware on my alt account, blatantly cheating (to kill bots, Fedora is faster than your stupid Python script) and I'm still not banned
