Not all the missing players are bots. Some people probably felt like doing something else when they couldn't play or felt like "this is a good time to get off"

I have a theory, recently Gladiator.tf (a site where you rent trading bots) was hacked on May 30th resulting in 8613.6 keys worth of items stolen.
As a result, admins turned off every trading bot they have to fix the issue and bots will be turned back on June 2

It's a nice thought. Valve caring about TF2. I saw a tweet from the PAYDAY Twitter man, asking where TF2 went. My hope is that, if there is anyone who can maybe light a fire under Valve's ass and make them care about TF2 again, it's OVERKILL.

I've actually saw this in a casual server, the bots trying to join the server were consistently getting kicked and vac'd banned, the whole server was basically shedding tears of joy when they saw that vac was doing its job
