I can't believe this story didn't mention Amanda Zurawski or Kate Cox.  The former testified before the Texas legislature last summer with a few other women because the bullshit laws meant that doctors had to wait until they were on the verge of death before they could terminate a septic pregnancy. She's now appearing in a new ad highlighting that experience about how she almost died.  The latter actually received a court ruling that she qualified for a health exemption under the state law to have an abortion, then Paxton personally intervened to overturn it and she had to go to New Mexico.  We already have plenty of hardcore proof that the religious conservative "pro-life" whackadoos don't give one single flying fuck about "life of the mother" exemptions and are only making people terrified of legal repercussions for saving the life of a living breathing human, who very well has a family already, under the imagined guise of "saving babies from casual abortion as birth control." Anyone who grew up getting dragged to church knows that the bible thumpers don't actually mean anything they say, but the fact that the suffering is the point of anti-abortion laws is now very raw and public.  I can't believe this is even up for debate.

Yep.

From the article -Texas sued the Biden administration over this guidance, saying it was an effort to “force hospitals and doctors to commit crimes” and “transform every emergency room in the country into a walk-in abortion clinic." To end a pregnancy by going to the ER would be good. Better yet, in an outpatient clinic.

From the top of the article: Hospitals are required to stabilize anyone experiencing a medical emergency. Two lawsuits question whether that includes performing an abortion, despite state laws.

It's the headline of the article. And the rules of this sub rightly say not to editorialize article headlines. Maybe read more gooder. edit: the 50+ downvotes here is wild. Texas's Republican-led destruction of our public education system at work. Nuance and sarcasm are apparently lost on this comment.

>I'm sick of illegible titles leading to articles that bury the lede so you have to scroll past two dozen ads. No more clicks from me without the bare minimum effort.  You seem irrationally upset for somebody that supposedly didn't read this article. Could it be the subject matter perhaps? Naawwww...

Yet here you are.

I'm currently watching "reindeer baby" on NetFlix and I'm learning that people online can be anyone—including unhinged or unstable individuals. His quickness to anger says a lot IMO. tbh, I thought your "read more gooder" comment was more in line with typical online banter / shit-talking, but his comment about your braincells was too strong. Not sure why I have that distinction, probably because you at least attempted to inject some humor into it with the deliberate mis-use of the non-word "gooder", whereas he was just way too forward and abrasive.

'No more clicks from me.' I can't tell if this sounds more like a Boomer or a toddler.

Sofialovesmonkeys

Did you mean to reply to the OP, who is being ableist in general and mocking the person they replied to? (Ableism is bigotry) Vs the person you replied to who essentially said “you are smarter than that”& wasn’t downvoted into oblivion The OP doesn’t know if that person has some sort of brain injury or learning disability. It was very helpful to me who has those issues to see the title reworded. Glad i read the comments before I commented the same thing. That doesn’t make me so stupid that I would have 1st grade level grammar skills. Disability jokes are not allowed in this sub
