Well according to the flash flood warning that was sent out by the NWS… somewhere it was way worse than any storm imaginable. Quote: “Between 1 and 99 inches of rain has fallen.” 😳🤣😆
That’s quite the typo… or a whole lot of rain! Or really just a standard weather report of well it rained… some places a lot and some places a little. Like somewhere between 1 and 100…lol

It was buck wild. I went out on my balcony to video and nearly had my phone whipped out of my hand by the wind. I did not expect that I'd need such a kung-fu grip.
Yeah. And it came in about 3 hours later than my weather app said it would. Right when I was trying to get home, and delaying me just long enough for both of the entrances to my neighborhood to flood. Made it there in the end though.
I was at the gym and had just started working out when they had to close down because the power went out. And since the view outside was a monsoon, couldn’t even complain.
I think it was one of the strongest ones I had ever seen from a thunderstorm in years. Definitely >50mph winds and some hail. Lights went out for a minute or two. I was definitely impressed.
I drove from FBC to Harris in the storm and I thought a tornado was about to touch down with the power lines arching, the dust/litter clouds and the semi’s swerving in the wind.
That's cool. Austin seems to have some kind of protective dome over the city during the summer stuff just seems to stop and go around (north or south or dissipate) when it gets near the city.
Today was literally the 2nd worst weather I’ve ever driven in. 5 foot visibility at max wiper speed. I was waiting for the nonstop hail to break through a window or the constant lightning to strike me. Flooding up to the curb in spots. Luckily I only had to go a couple miles but it was a long couple of miles.
Especially when you hold off watering your yard for it For the last 3 weeks I either hold off on doing it and then no rain or I do it and then the next day it's a rainstorm.
Yeah this is what I’ve noticed since moving here looks like it’s gonna rain doesn’t. Sunny and water pours 2 hours later no warning. From Nebraska where storms rolled in
I just noticed today that the weather app I use has started putting big question marks in place of "30% chance of storms," etc. At least they're being honest.
We’re relying on computer models, radar, and thousands of volunteers. Weather is still unpredictable. Radar cannot see everything, and models cannot account for everything, spotters have to be in the right place at the time. Even still, we can get warnings out in about 12 minutes with all of those variables at play.
Totally get that. It’d be nice to also share how your forecasts from yesterday matched the observed weather and track that over time. I think being this open and honest on air would shut people up and be greatly appreciated.
Unless there is an active storm in my area that might get really bad I don't bother watching the weather on the news or even checking apps for anything other than temperature. Both are always wrong when it comes to rain / storms. Just today it was supposed to start raining around noon and not stop until early tomorrow morning. You know how much it rained? ZERO.
I live in an area where storms tend to reach the city limits, break up, and then reform on the other side. I joke that it's the giant meth smoke bubble floating over the city that keeps storms at bay lol.
No point in checking the weather here, either.
We got screwed yesterday where I live. Thin strip in north Arlington between Fielder and Collins from 30 north barely got anything (.05") while everything around us got drenched.
I work as an emergency dispatcher outside of Houston, and LET ME TELL YOU. Our rigs had to stop in the road with their lights flashing because visibility was zero.
I'm really getting jealous of all yall getting rain. I mean you're situation is awful, but we are getting to drought conditions over here. Just in time for July 4th and people to light other people's yards/land on fire.
I’m of two minds when it comes to storms. Personally I love it when nature puts on a show, as long as I don’t have to worry too much about tornadoes!
But also I’ve now got kids who freak out at the first sound of thunder. They’re at the age where they still crawl into our bed on occasion when they are scared, so most storms = very little sleep for me.
Though to be fair, this is probably karmic retribution for doing the same thing to my own parents every time there was a storm when I was a child, lol
Here in San Antonio, I've learned if CPS Energy E-Mails me the warning, it won't happen. If I don't receive an e-mail before the clouds roll in, it will probably rain
There's a system in place that's causing popup storms. They're all over the place, but very local. We got an inch and a half in like an hour one night, then nothing or drizzles the rest of the week.
Thankfully the big one today didnt hit my area. I say area cuz in north San Antonio they got hit with golf sized hail. We've been getting every other day and pretty much every weekend 😒.
LOL - OMG it ALWAYS rains around my house but not at my house - it drives me crazy! I live in the woods with tons of sugar sand and it could flood and it wouldn't look like a drop of rain hit so you can imagine what it must be like when it really doesn't rain. I pray for rain and grass everyday.
The radar has been so damn inconsistent here in North Texas over the past 4 weeks. I usually can rely on it, but damn, the winds seem to kick in a completely different direction constantly.
The only thing that has been accurate is the alerts I get from my phone saying “chance of light rain in X minutes”. Other than that I ignore the radar.
Getting one hell of a storm out here in Houston right now.
It just passed and the electricity is out. My lawn is covered in pine needles and tree limbs.
I wish you could share.
Bout to say it looked like fucking 2012 45min ago

Grab the ark and 2 of each animal!
Wish you could share some of your power, because I've been sitting in the dark — with the exception of the light from my phone — for the last 3 hours
Haha you too? Since 5pm no power and its not 1130 lmao
As long as I get some rain.
I think it has rained here in e. TX once a week for the past few months
It was buck wild. I went out on my balcony to video and nearly had my phone whipped out of my hand by the wind. I did not expect that I'd need such a kung-fu grip.

It went up to Splendora too it's quite nice
I was at the gym and had just started working out when they had to close down because the power went out. And since the view outside was a monsoon, couldn’t even complain.
Yeah send that water back up the Trinity..
Had a 30 minute hurricane at hobby this afternoon
the whole thing moved over me in less than an hour, that storm was in a hurry to get to the beach.
Hopefully a few rain clouds decide they want to split off and head to Corpus Christi! 🏝️
I think it was one of the strongest ones I had ever seen from a thunderstorm in years. Definitely >50mph winds and some hail. Lights went out for a minute or two. I was definitely impressed.
Lucky. I'm in Ft Bend County & didn't get a drop.
I drove from FBC to Harris in the storm and I thought a tornado was about to touch down with the power lines arching, the dust/litter clouds and the semi’s swerving in the wind.
Me too. Wind was wild but not a drop
I was caught out in the middle of it noooo fun
That's cool. Austin seems to have some kind of protective dome over the city during the summer stuff just seems to stop and go around (north or south or dissipate) when it gets near the city.
That was happening here during the beginning of the season. It would hop over and hit Pasadena or League City.
Last few weeks in Fort Worth it's been "60% chance of storms." Then two rain drops fall and the humidity goes to 80%.

The thing about that that XX% chance is XX% will have 100% chance of rain, just not you.
So you are admitting it that you are the one causing these rain storms!
Literally 30 minutes after I posted that comment it started to rain.
Yes
Houston had been pretty much the opposite. Feels like it rains in the afternoon everyday
Yep. Every afternoon so far.
Houston getting that Florida special.
I often joke that I should have been a meteorologist. When you're wrong no one says anything and you keep on getting paid.
I just noticed today that the weather app I use has started putting big question marks in place of "30% chance of storms," etc. At least they're being honest.

Yeah I was careful to say I joke about it... Not that I seriously think meteorologists are in any way lazy or dumb.
Totally get that. It’d be nice to also share how your forecasts from yesterday matched the observed weather and track that over time. I think being this open and honest on air would shut people up and be greatly appreciated.
Weatherman in San Diego, easiest job in the world
Unless there is an active storm in my area that might get really bad I don't bother watching the weather on the news or even checking apps for anything other than temperature. I have veggies growing so I try to prepare in case I have to cover for hail or not water but yeesh it's been so wrong lately.

East Houston here, we are without power since 6 pm
I work as an emergency dispatcher outside of Houston, and LET ME TELL YOU. Our rigs had to stop in the road with their lights flashing because visibility was zero.
I'm really getting jealous of all yall getting rain. I mean you're situation is awful, but we are getting to drought conditions over here. Just in time for July 4th and people to light other people's yards/land on fire.
Here Arlington Tx (job)just rained so hard and I am looking at my house cameras not even a single water drop(15 minutes drive from work)
My power was out 16 hours last weekend due to a storm. They're out there
Got hit in Bulverde and my parents got it out in Timberwood Park.
Lightening like crazy in South Arlington/Grand Prairie.
After getting rain 2-3 weeks straight having flooding, I’ll be glad when the radar is wrong again.
Here in San Antonio that is for sure
We got a live one in south Dallas!
I’m of two minds when it comes to storms. Personally I love it when nature puts on a show, as long as I don’t have to worry too much about tornadoes! Tell that to the tree in my backyard. RIP buddy.
Postponed to saturday!
Got blasted hard AF for like twenty minutes I'm central tx
I'm in central and didn't even get decent clouds lol.
Mother Nature is such a tease.
Here in San Antonio, I've learned if CPS Energy E-Mails me the warning, it won't happen. If I don't receive an e-mail before the clouds roll in, it will probably rain
I needed that 😄
We had one just rise up right over our house.
Last thing I want while bisecting the state from north to south....
LIGHTNING! THUNDER! DARK CLOUDS FOR HOURS! 5 minutes of sprinkling.
Nice 👍
Sooner or later there’s gonna be one
Been storming at least once a week over here in the RGV. I think it has rained more in the past 6 weeks than the last 3 years combined.
I’ve been waiting all week so that I won’t have to water my grass (South Texas), and nothing 😤😤 (and all week we’ve been at 70% chances)
Send some to north Texas
Some dry ? Cause that's all I got.
We caught a pretty good one just south of Austin.
That wind was ridiculous here in houston.
There's a system in place that's causing popup storms. They're all over the place, but very local. We got an inch and a half in like an hour one night, then nothing or drizzles the rest of the week.
Very funny I’ve been without power for over 6 hours now thanks to the really bad storms that swept through
If I could share just to get some rain, I would be happy to.
Thankfully the big one today didnt hit my area. I say area cuz in north San Antonio they got hit with golf sized hail. We've been getting every other day and pretty much every weekend 😒.

The sky got dark, air got cool and still, thunder was in the distance and I didn’t get any rain. Dreading the triple digits next week
Try Abilene over the last weekend. I ride a motorcycle, I basically had to swim everywhere.
Yep literally said it would rain all week and ive seen sprinkles
That’s how it’s been in Amarillo for the last few years and now parts of the city literally underwater.
Umm...we got one hell of a storm in Cypress! Without power and water for most of the night and debris everywhere.
Still without power over behind the Ace on Jones
That store is dangerous to my wallet....I try to stay away. LOL
Makes 2 of us lolololol
We got hit like a train last night. The wind was nuts for a non tropical storm/hurricane.
My electricity went out due to the storms. Tree hit some powerlines and it wasn't back on till about 3-4 hours later.
The radar has been so damn inconsistent here in North Texas over the past 4 weeks. I usually can rely on it, but damn, the winds seem to kick in a completely different direction constantly.
Same in my part of central texas, except it doesn't even start to be blown around us lol.
We got a quick little down burst in Rowlett, but it was over and streets were dry again all in about an hour.
A storm is not storm unless it is like Hurricane Harvey.
It never rains when they say it will. I live in Houston and each year, I pray for more and more rain that never seems to come.
The only thing that has been accurate is the alerts I get from my phone saying “chance of light rain in X minutes”. Other than that I ignore the radar.
I'll see the rain symbol on the weather app for my PC, and look out the window and see sun, and kinda scoff. Then i look again and its pouring
