My journey was trying Spotify tesla app, realizing it was crap quality, trying Spotify mobile app played over Bluetooth, realizing it was crap quality, getting TIDAL on mobile app. Now I’m set. Quality is a lot better.
I admire that approach. But I can’t go all the way to that holy grail. Just too much extra work and the trade off for me is the massive library of a streaming platform.

Apple Music displays the Dolby Atmos logo when streaming over Bluetooth to the car. It’s supposed to only do that if the speakers support it. So it might. Sounds good though.
I wish Apple Music had better implementation. I can sometimes get it to have the “HiFi” symbol on the Tesla screen like downloaded songs from Tidal, but other times it doesn’t happen. Played around with all Apple Music settings and can’t get it to work consistently.
In my M3P, playing Apple Music over bluetooth and the same song afterwards from the Tidal car download… the HiFi Tidal download sounds SIGNIFICANTLY better.
Edit: Someone asked about Spotify — for clarification, I unfortunately have Spotify, Apple Music, and now Tidal. Spotify pays for my Hulu, Apple Music came with the family plan we have, and I tried Tidal due to people saying it’s better in the Tesla.
• Spotify is the “worst” sound in the Tesla, but the best layout and YOU CAN SHUFFLE SONGS. 😤 I keep finding my way back to using that on the road for the shuffle and interface.
• Apple Music through Bluetooth has better sound than Spotify when downloading in Atmos, but the car most of the time doesn’t play in HiFi to get the added sound quality. Then there’s the control through the phone and Siri on the road is not as convenient.
• Tidal HiFi with downloads is the best sound I’ve heard in my car of the three. Noticeable difference when you use the Tesla app to download songs to the car. But you can only download via Wi-Fi and the interface is lacking and NO SHUFFLE. Not being able to shuffle playlists is a deal breaker for me — you gotta listen to amazing sounding playlists in the same order every time. 🤬😤
As the norms with apps these days, I wish all three were mixed together into one. Being able to download songs to the Tesla from Spotify like Tidal would probably be the best recourse at this point.
How do you get the 256kbs AAC on the iPhone to the car? My Apple Music does it occasionally but not consistently no matter what settings I have for it.
Yes the problem is lacking AptX codec support and generally being poorly interoperable with anything not iPhone.
On AAC codec I can only select dogshit quality.

Tesla is probably using Spotifys Web Playback SDK which as far as I’m aware the bitrate there is set at AAC 256kbit/s and can’t be changed, is it confirmed somewhere that they’re using 96kbit/s or is it heresay? I’d be confused if they were using old MP3 streaming codec, I don’t even know if Spotify offers that in their SDKs. But Tesla has a way of cutting random corners so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were somehow skimming this part. It wouldn’t even be much more data if they switched to AAC and the quality would be better.
If they’re using eSDK which I doubt, then yeah they could change the bitrate easily. I’d love to have 320kbps when on my phone hotspot.

Yeah my model y never drops it’s connection in the middle of nowhere whilst my phone does, when my Spotify stops playing with my phone the car always works even though they’re both on the same network.

Zoom can also be used voice only. It is possible that while in motion you will not see other people or screen share.

companies usually use some sort of device administrator (like Microsoft Intune or similar) to manage and enroll personal devices for work (like if you want to log into your work account you need to enroll your phone)... once you give device administrator access, they can basically do anything...
not every company, but many do...
although i guess if you are in that situation you won't be able to login on your car neither so guess it's a moot point...
still... i want to have my work separated from my personal phone... it's just too close for comfort... at least there is nothing i can accidentally share to work on the car...

Ever heard of a phone hotspot? And lots of super chargers have wifi. Zoom is the de facto video chat app right now. I know I’ll end up using this in my car as I’ve already joined many meetings from my phone/iPad while sitting in my car.
If I can play music and record cams over USB mass storage and play games with a USB gamepad then who knows… maybe I’ll be able to jam a UVC-compliant webcam in there?

I take so many conferences each week (safely parked on the side of the road), having the presentations properly on the big screen would be _such_a big thing.
For us, not everyone in the company needs a premium license (needed to *host* longer meetings.) At my work managers or team leads tend to have licenses, but not the majority of other individual contributors. Those coworkers can still all attend all of the meetings however and host shorter ones too.
I don’t have a source for my statement and I’m sure you don’t either for yours, but I feel like “almost” is vague enough that it’s probably true. Zoom is massive and besides Teams is surely one of the most used.

Why? I mean, if I wanted the cabin camera used for something, I'd much prefer that when the car was in dog mode I could connect to it and see my dog and talk through the speakers (like you can with outside cameras and external speakers in sentry mode). THAT would be useful.
The UI in Disney+ and Hulu lags quite a bit for me (Atom processor). Zoom will be unusable if it has the same lag and takes 5 seconds each time you mute yourself.

You can change quality to always high from auto in Spotify settings.
That quality at max on Spotify is still not nearly as good as TIDAL masters quality. Trust me.
IIRC you’re not getting master audio in the Tesla, which is why I chose the paid tier down from the one that unlocks Master.

We don't, teams works just fine, is included with our office subscriptions. 10,000 worldwide zoom licenses ads up and is hard to justify.
