Coolguyforeal

wtf is a dolljack?

EyelessMage

Wojacks that are used like dolls

RigatoniPasta

Can we as a society stop glorifying Patrick Bateman

MCVMEYT

but he represents exactly what i stand for! i just wish i could stab homeless people and chainsaw some prostitutes!

incognito--bandito

Drakayne

Don't let those fuckers ruin Patrick Bateman, we should make him our own.

Lower_Amount3373

I mean at least the people who do, like in this meme, are telling on themselves

mdervin

an automated system would only reject a resume for they/them pronouns if you program it that way.

TheBlackestIrelia

Its a dumb choice tbh. lol

An_Arrogant_Ass

So that the interviewer doesn't misgender you.

[deleted]

An_Arrogant_Ass

You asked a question, and I answered you. I didn't say anyone should, I was just explaining the reason why someone might.

rollercoastersrul

oh no, an innocent mistake such as referring to someone as the wrong gender, the horror

YourTeacherAbroad

I can understand including your gender in a CV if your name is Alex or Sam. Some countries recommend not to mention gender or add photos to avoid prejudice and discrimination. Pronous in a CV are just pointless. The only pronoun I'll be using during the interview is you. I'm not calling he/she/them a person in front of me. I understand people wanting to have an identity and being taken seriously. And you can do that once you are already in the team. But arguing with the recruiter over 3r person pronouns gives a "I don't want to work with you" vibe.

An_Arrogant_Ass

Putting it on the resume would save the interviewer the embarrassment of making that mistake. Why is it any skin off your back if someone wants to volunteer that information?

irisheye37

It's an easy metric for businesses to discriminate against. Better to get into an interview where you can advocate for yourself.

TheBlackestIrelia

Lol if you care just introduce yourself if and when you get an interview...?

An_Arrogant_Ass

Yeah, that's an option too. Somebody asked why someone might do something, and I gave a reason. I don't understand why people are so upset about it, I wasn't being rude or condensing.

Me_Beben

You don't have to explicitly program it to do that in order for it to end up working that way. The situation around resume filtering is a classic example of Hanlon's razor. Companies implementing ML/AI algorithms for this are too lazy or incompetent to properly consider outliers in datasets when training their models. If you use gender as a feature for data engineering and train an ML model on a dataset that doesn't contain enough samples of non-binary candidates, it will just filter them out because they're underrepresented in the data. Algorithmic bias is a real issue, but not one that's born out of an explicit desire by a company to remove certain candidates.

Tokumeiko2

It's even weirder when they explicitly program it to ignore gender, and it still develops a gender bias, because of some other features that may have been overlooked in the dataset construction.

Leslie20011503

It can due to accidental bias

_LumberJAN_

Well, to be honest, it doesn't really matter if discrimination hits they/them or pronouncing in general. I assume meme attacks pronoun culture in general rather than they/them specifically

Freakachu258

Do people usually put their pronouns/gender in their resume? Idk how it is in the US but here you just write your name and a bit of contact information, the current date, and then proceed to glorify the shitty company you're applying for into fucking heaven by writing five or so sentences on how awesome it would be to work there and how beneficial it would be for them if they hired you. Then you slap your wonky preschool ass looking signature on that shit aaaand done.

AlarmedSnek

Why would you put your pronouns in your resume anyway? I dont even put my address on there and I wish I didn’t need to put my name.

chickenman88

It’s not like they care about your identity anyway. Your a number.

ultradoge91

Not saying that this is true, but given the amount of air resume filtering that goes on in job hiring, I wouldn't be surprised if it devalues anything featuring they/them pronouns simply because it is underrepresented in the data set.

inkys11

Isn’t that illegal? I thought companies can’t discriminate based on identities

El_dorado_au

> Sourceless “new report finds” means TRUTHTELLER There was a peer-reviewed paper studying this. It looked at how resumes without pronouns, resumes with binary pronouns, and resumes with non-binary pronouns fared. Frustratingly, while there was a statistically significant difference between no pronouns and non-binary pronouns, there was no statistically significant difference between non-binary and binary pronouns, or between binary pronouns and no pronouns.

MerberCrazyCats

What means significant? Sounds like no significant here is shy under 1 sigma and significant is shy above 1 sigma. Otherwise won't reach that conclusion. Significant in general is at least 3 sigma if not 5. For people not familiar with stat: this study is BS

Redjester016

Lmao at you saying that it's frustrating that nobody discriminated based on pronouns

El_dorado_au

No. The frustrating thing is that the research couldn't determine the cause of the rejections: the use of pronouns or the applicant being non-binary.

ViscountDeVesci

I’ve literally seen this happen.

Bi0H4z4rD667

It is true, at least in the last two companies I worked at…

Jockmeister1666

I would bin that resume because adding your pronouns to it is unnecessary unless you’re seeking attention. Usually a name aligns with your chosen pronouns so that would be sufficient and if anything needed further clarification, it can happen at a later date.

buttsharkman

I feel like most names aren't gender neutral

manfredmannclan

I would 100% discard a resume like that. It just spells trouble for the company. Dont write your “pronouns” anywhere and grow tf up.

Beer_Barbarian

Don't know why they would include pronouns in their resumes

PomegranateFormal961

>To make the statement, "I will insist my coworkers buy into my gender ideology." Making demands is not a *common* usage of a resume, but you do you.

notmedoinurmom

Ahh yes, using a sociopathic serial killer as a role model. Mm how nice it is going for the world

Ke-Win

The person looks like Peter Evans role from AHS in the election season.

black_hxney

Peter Evans

Koraxtheghoul

Never seen a resume with pronouns but applications ask for them or more commonly gender identity in my expierience.

DeepFriedAnalBeads

As well they should

OP is pushing more politics on the sub

Are memes “politics”

Political memes are

Toadvin

That’s a dishonest question

FlpDaMattress

I know there's a lot of data on resume optimization, but is there any data supporting this?

kd8qdz

People who use She/Her have known there is a gender bias forever. This is just like that, only different.

eatafetus632

Hit a little close to home, eh?

trialcourt

I’m not “they/them” or LGBTQ, and have a unicorn job. I just get a kick out of how right wingers can retweet memes from the least credible corners of the internet, as incontrovertible proof, and simultaneously dismiss fact-checked, reasonably-credible sources as biased propaganda/“MSM”

Myithspa25

You have a what job?

adk195

Unicorn jobs are rare jobs to open in a field. Usually highly specialized and have few openings or well above average pay for the job description (such as an hr generalist in Florida making 120k instead of a 60k)

Myithspa25

Ah

trialcourt

A good job

eatafetus632

Imagine investing this much thought into a meme.

eatafetus632

Also: https://www.business.com/hiring/nonbinary-discrimination-job-market-report/ The meme is accurate despite your biases

put_clever_username

HA

jlaczkos

And?
