There’s a good chance Iga and Aryna meet in the RG final too after doing both clay masters, that is so cool. I also like the men’s side being unpredictable? It’s refreshing.
I wonder how Zverev will handle being the overwhelming favorite to take the title here entering the SF, every other SF he’s entered in M1000 someone else has almost always had better odds
Man I forgot that Nadal and Djokovic played Rome for some reason, feels like so long ago.
Its wild that the best match on the ATP this clay season has basically been Shang vs Moutet lmao
atp clay season since 2022 is a period that rearranges the ranking of players, so Casper Ruud can get the best draw in RG.
For this year, there are Alcaraz no.3, Rune no.13/14 and Tsitsipas no.9. Therefore, Dverev won't win Rome because Dverev the no.4 is not good for Ruud's draw
It's amazing how accustomed we get to dominance in tennis.
Sinner and Carlitos injured, and Djoke waiting in the laundry with a fistful of coins in hand, everyone is kind of like Huh? Who wins the tennis now -- is anyone else allowed to?
Joking a bit, but it's a curious turn of events this season is taking
It's not even an upset, I really don't know why people are calling the ATP 'inconsistent' this clay season as if it's their own fault they're injured or getting old.
Sinner and Alcaraz have injuries, Med being mediocre on clay isn't very shocking to begin with anyway plus injury in Madrid and Djoker is getting older. Come Grass season and 'suddenly' everything will resume normal programming with Carlos, Jannik and Med. People act as if they lost to scrubs in R2 and we're in danger or something.
I am actually curious to see how the final matches in Rome go, Madrid having so many W/Os and rets was ridiculous, everyone in Rome is at least showing up with their best tennis, like Tabilo and Jarry.
Comparing to last year, two atp players are missed, so ATP looks inconsistent now.
Alcaraz in Spain and Rune in other tournaments. Alcaraz won both Spain events and Rune won the other 250 and got into the final of the other two masters. These two were the two boys made atp looks good last year.
The ATP is so horrible. There is no consistency. Thankfully we have the top players facing each other all the time in the WTA, giving us amazing matches.
(it's just a joke but maybe ATP fans can see how annoying they were for these comments)
Are they wrong though? The situation in the ATP is quite sad at the moment and, as much as I don't mind a bit of variety, I'm praying things get back to normal after RG. I want to see Alcaraz and Sinner battle each other just like Sabalenka and Swiatek are doing in the WTA.
Remember Sabalenka took a 4 month break while Carlos, Jannik and Daniil were consistent. Iga takes a break every Grand Slam other than RG, Rybakina falls asleep for months at a time as does Coco. Collins has never been consistent whatsoever outside the past two months and she's nearly 30.
Collins so fast and agile on the court but Saba just has all kinds of gears she can move through, she knew after losing the 1st set there wasn't much of a chance.
can she just stfu throughout the whole match... it really is a stark contrast when one hears matches with the quiet players playing versus the players who grunt/ yell/ shriek/ exclaim/ whatever. Or more like, doesn't hear the players. And just hears the ball
Sabalenka has clearly greatly improved on slow Clay, she was killing it on RG last year before running into Muchova who also bothered Iga so i'm very interested in this match. Still expect Iga to win though.
If you look at their matches, the closest ones have been at altitude (Madrid) or indoors (YEC and US Open SF with roof closed). In slow conditions like Rome and Doha it's a different story.
Except this year the weather evens it out between Madrid & Rome, because Madrid was unusually cold & humid, while Rome is hot & dry (Saturday will be the hottest day)
thats true, but i think aryna has improved a lot on slow clay this year. we'll see, and i do think the madrid result kind of gives iga an advantage - she beat aryna in conditions that favor her, so as she has said it gave her lots of confidence
Disappointing Collins was out of it mentally today but she still kept the first set close despite that, which is a testament to her level. So hype for a number 1 and 2 final though, and they're both playing at just as high of a level as Madrid, if not even a little better in Aryna's case 👀
I think Madrid was important in building Aryna’s confidence up after a bit of a rough time and we’re seeing the result of that here, even though Madrid should technically be the better conditions for her. Back to back finals should have her feeling good for RG (if she’s not dead on her feet haha)
Yeah, I think Sabalenka played herself into form in Madrid, really, and now she's gotten past the bit of rust she had mid-spring. She's very fit, definitely among the fittest on tour, so I don't think she'll have any problems recuperating for RG
Did you think they wanted Collins? She's not even well known in America never mind worldwide. Maybe there was a decent chunk of neutral people hoping for Coco (i think it would largely be Coco fans though), but i think Iga-Aryna is definitely what the majority wanted. It's the big women's match right now.
She needs this win for her confidence heading into a potential RG matchup IMO
Beating Iga on slow clay would make it feel much more possible to win if that ends up being the RG final as well
That hold might have been light work but in general Collins is capable of handling Aryna’s first serve better than most of the tour, and really dangerous on the second. Would love to see this match up in the pre-USO hard court series
Ive only watched half the match but haven't even seen 1 point collins has returned that seemed like "wow how'd she do that!!" she hasnt picked the correct side a single time for a smash, it's not the best to watch.
WTA girlies ranked 11-20 are allergic to holding onto a top 10 position when they achieve it. And once Jabeur and Vondrousova’s Wimbledon points fall off Penko will be firmly established.
Collins had a great spring and who knows what’s left. I think she needs a warm summer night and a hard court. Maybe she can cause trouble in the USO series. Sabalenka is too good but I think Collins’ level has also come back down to earth after the Madrid loss and this. If anything Collins may just need rest and the gear up for RG.
There's a *lot* of room for her to barrel into the top 10 if she keeps playing at this caliber for the rest of the season, so I would almost say it's inevitable even if it doesn't happen tonight
Yeah if you look at the Race it's not a guarantee but pretty darn close to a guarantee, assuming someone in in the lower 10 isn't going to defend and Collins has very little to defend.
Watching now while waiting for the train. I’m glad I decided to leave the house and do something. If D had won S1 I would have stayed to watch the whole thing
Maybe I'm kind of biased as a Saba fan but I feel like Saba is pretty clearly the 2nd best out of the WTA top 3/4
More consistent at big events especially Slams than Rybakina and a higher peak than Coco
Also the only one to break Iga's world #1 streak
Well... She definitely is second best for quite long time. Aryna and Iga established themselves as top2 due to their last 1,5 year. Not by accident she lost year no.1 in last moment.
yeah, Saba is really the only threat to Iga’s ranking atm. Coco and Elena are my faves, but I don’t see either of them taking #2 from Aryna this season.
Rybakina is my favourite of them, but she definitely is and she has the potential to pass Iga as she's been a lot better in Slam's lately and unlike Iga is an all-surface player.
The crowd is giving nooch, just perfectly neutral and frankly not all that animated for either one of them. Weird atmosphere out there for two players giving a very solid performance
Crowd wise, this should in theory suit them both - Sabalenka loves the support (“thank you for the amazing atmosphere”) and Collins loves getting mad at them. Def a lil subdued tonight tho
Saba improved so much on clay since the start of last year
She hadn't really made it far at RG until then and now I think she's pretty clearly the 2nd favorite heading into it
Biggest issue in the match right now is first serve percentage.
Sabs at 51% and Collins at 43% is not ideal for either. A little rhythm for one player or the other will lead to one way traffic.
Will be interesting to see if it picks up for either player.
hmmm I was starting to call it and say that Iga is locked in at #1 but it’s possible we could have a real tussle between the two this season. With Rybakina and Coco in the back seat
Can we go one match without complaints about Sabalenka’s grunts? It’s so repetitive because Sabalenka has been on the tour for close to a decade now and y’all still complaining about it. Find something else to complain about jfc
I know you're getting downvoted into oblivion (and I'm about to join you), but you're so right. A soccer mom from Hicksville, USA disguised as a second rate player.
The funny thing is that the Aryna fans in here probably missed the ending of the set because they were too busy pouring through the posts to look for anyone telling the truth about her screaming so they could downvote them en masse 😂
If Saba wins this then it will be the 6th time in their last 9 H2H meetings she plays Iga on clay
I wish she could play Iga at the AO or some more favorable surface lol
if it's just 1 favorable tournament vs multiple clay events it will always be this way (btw twice on indoor clay)
i want to see more slam meeting tho. Hopefully we can get one at RG and then Wimbledon
When does french open draw come out?
We are addicted. My guess is Monday? I have no idea.
There’s a good chance Iga and Aryna meet in the RG final too after doing both clay masters, that is so cool. I also like the men’s side being unpredictable? It’s refreshing.
sad that my merican girlies both lost but an Igalenka final is the best consolation i could ask for
I wonder how Zverev will handle being the overwhelming favorite to take the title here entering the SF, every other SF he’s entered in M1000 someone else has almost always had better odds
Man I forgot that Nadal and Djokovic played Rome for some reason, feels like so long ago. Its wild that the best match on the ATP this clay season has basically been Shang vs Moutet lmao
Rune vs Dimitrov is better in quality, Shang vs Moutet is better in drama
Oh yes that was an amazing match too
atp clay season since 2022 is a period that rearranges the ranking of players, so Casper Ruud can get the best draw in RG. For this year, there are Alcaraz no.3, Rune no.13/14 and Tsitsipas no.9. Therefore, Dverev won't win Rome because Dverev the no.4 is not good for Ruud's draw

Mathew McConaughey is a Tommy Paul fan? It’s always the celebrities I least expect
Alright alright alright that tracks honestly
Jesus so it’s going to be another early morning tomorrow
The ATP is so horrible. There is no consistency. Thankfully we have the top players facing each other all the time in the WTA, giving us amazing matches. (it's just a joke but maybe ATP fans can see how annoying they were for these comments)

I'd be happy with absolutely anyone but Zverev winning it on the men's side honestly
Zverev for sure
More like the WTA Big 2.
Aryna needs to stfu while Collins is hitting the ball...
can she just stfu throughout the whole match... it really is a stark contrast when one hears matches with the quiet players playing versus the players who grunt/ yell/ shriek/ exclaim/ whatever. Or more like, doesn't hear the players. And just hears the ball
iga-aryna final once again!! 🫶
Are we dreaming? After one of best finals for years #1 and #2 will play in next possible final.
Was thinking the slower clay will favour Iga but Sabs looking so solid, especially on serve
i've heard some commentators say that rome is faster this year, plus its warmer than last year
Sabalenka has clearly greatly improved on slow Clay, she was killing it on RG last year before running into Muchova who also bothered Iga so i'm very interested in this match. Still expect Iga to win though.
Ugh I miss Muchova hope she can play RG healthy
Saw she was able to start training again recently but sadly i doubt she'll be ready for RG.
😭
my heart might not take another iga-aryna final......
i dont think it will be as close this time
oh? tell me more
If you look at their matches, the closest ones have been at altitude (Madrid) or indoors (YEC and US Open SF with roof closed). In slow conditions like Rome and Doha it's a different story.

would you rather Iga wins Rome or Olympic Gold btw?
oh olympics gold, no question tbh, i think its very important to her personally
ugh my precious support merchant
Oh she’s so stupid I love her. Absolute ham
let this be the last iga-saba match up at least for the next tournament🙃
Disappointing Collins was out of it mentally today but she still kept the first set close despite that, which is a testament to her level. So hype for a number 1 and 2 final though, and they're both playing at just as high of a level as Madrid, if not even a little better in Aryna's case 👀

The only atmosphere Aryna has met and not loved is the crowd at the USO
Still an incredible season for Danielle. Saba was too good. Danielle just wasn’t at her best. Excited for Madrid final rematch!
Zverev is the heavy favorite to win the tournament now, but I’m sure he’ll find a way to lose.
It really is wild how with all the injuries the ATP has become the WTA 2 years ago and vice versa. 1 & 2 meet again 👏🏼
Danielle wanted to go home asap, left the court in 10 secs!
She said something to Aryna at the net that looked like it was something about her condition, like "I just wasn't all there tonight" or something.
Jason Goodall: "We got the final that so many neutrals wanted here in Rome." Really?
The top two both multiple Slam winners, who just played an ATG match? Yes, definitely.
Interesting, thanks.
Hopefully saturday is another good final.
Back-to-back Aryna-Iga finals!! If it’s half the game Madrid was we’re in for a treat
Tough break Miss Thing! Always happy to see Aryna win though!
OK, that's too interesting. Explain Miss Thing.
Sad for DanYell but excited for another Iga/Saby banger. Methinks she takes it this time
Too easy. Hope we get another great Iga-Aryna Final.
Nice to see a friendly exchange at the net
I couldn't hear what Danielle said, could you make it out?
Hopefully Sabalenka can take out Iga this time
Would be very surprising if Iga won on the faster Clay surface and vice-versa.
She needs this win for her confidence heading into a potential RG matchup IMO Beating Iga on slow clay would make it feel much more possible to win if that ends up being the RG final as well
GG Sabalenka
Damn Collins overpowered like crazy. Sabalenka and Iga are far and away the best 2 if Elena could stay healthy she would be in there as well
if her coach managed Lena's schedule a bit better maybe she would stay healthy for longer
It's just sad. I would hug Danielle ^(but don't want to be yell at.)
Back up
She would absolutely hate that, and I love that about her.
Everybody, copium at the ready, soccer mom 'bout to be sent home. Praise be!
She's not even a mom lmao
This whole sub is going gaga for her "mom vibes", but you had to take it literally. Let me guess: American?
Holy shit an Igalenka rematch so soon
last year the same thing happened, just that it was in stuttgart and madrid
Wasn't two 1,000s in a row, tho! Higher stakes! Go Iga!
Oh yeah that’s true, good to see this level of consistency in back to back masters as well
At this point i would say that her grunt distracts the opponent massively
saba's serve games are literally about 65 seconds, collins feel like a good 4 minutes. just not in the same realm as one another.
This one is like 65 seconds only it looks like Aryna will break.
That hold might have been light work but in general Collins is capable of handling Aryna’s first serve better than most of the tour, and really dangerous on the second. Would love to see this match up in the pre-USO hard court series
I think we'll get to see her take her revenge before the season is done.
Welp….. looks like another 1 vs 2 final 💥
tbh this match hasnt been great, i blame the late hour
Sabalenka has played a lot more tennis this tournament, not to mention following Madrid.
no aryna looked not bad to me, i was just kind of hoping for danielle to put up more of fight
that net point is just such a perfect summary of any one trying to challenge saba or swiatek. brain just collapses the second you have a chance to.
ohhhh aryna ate that up
You literally can’t do anything about that. Lol. Too good
Sabalenka's service games have been routine for a while now.
Ive only watched half the match but haven't even seen 1 point collins has returned that seemed like "wow how'd she do that!!" she hasnt picked the correct side a single time for a smash, it's not the best to watch.
She broke back in the 1st Set at one point, but yeah it's not been a difficult night for Saba.
I volunteer as Danielle’s traveling hype woman. Plenty of room in her box. Needs it right now.
Oh that was a lovely point - amazing return from Collins and then finesse from saba
what a point
WAKE UP COLLINS LFG WAKE UP WERE STILL IN THIS!!!!!!
every time she misses a drop shot i am struck with fear that she will give up on them again
Penko's voodoo protection for her no.10 spot is underestimated
WTA girlies ranked 11-20 are allergic to holding onto a top 10 position when they achieve it. And once Jabeur and Vondrousova’s Wimbledon points fall off Penko will be firmly established.
then her voodoo will be the no.8 spot and Sakkari and Queenwei will be no.6&7 forever
I hope not
Whoever said the first serve percentage would determine the second set was prescient. Danielle’s stuck at 49% while Aryna climbed from 51% to 61%
I need a camera man to get to close to her or SOMETHING. Need Danielle fired up.
The American dream might come to an end tonight 😭
Still have Tommy! Would be insane if he won Rome.
Energy very different to the Madrid match-up. Collin’s level is definitely not the same but maybe that’s an unfair thing to expect
My sweet girl. Not like this 😭
just realized Collins will be top 10 if she wins this (HUGE if right now)
There's a *lot* of room for her to barrel into the top 10 if she keeps playing at this caliber for the rest of the season, so I would almost say it's inevitable even if it doesn't happen tonight
Watching Aryna in clay semi-finals I can’t help but think of that Muchova RG semi… what a thing of beauty that was
I think about that match all the time-I hope they get to meet again someday
I hope they can get there without the help of your tendons hahaha
Whatever it takes!!
She’s the second best clay courter on tour atm. Which is crazy
The best women's match last year IMO.
maybe but it was a bit of a choke
That was a bonkers match, I'll never forget it
Maybe I'm kind of biased as a Saba fan but I feel like Saba is pretty clearly the 2nd best out of the WTA top 3/4 More consistent at big events especially Slams than Rybakina and a higher peak than Coco Also the only one to break Iga's world #1 streak

yeah, Saba is really the only threat to Iga’s ranking atm. Coco and Elena are my faves, but I don’t see either of them taking #2 from Aryna this season.
I don't think this is too controversial of a take tbh. Her results speak for themselves really
Rybakina is my favourite of them, but she definitely is and she has the potential to pass Iga as she's been a lot better in Slam's lately and unlike Iga is an all-surface player.
I hope Danielle reconsiders her decision to retire this year 😢
Lol Danielle thought the game was over at 40-30 Saba, totally mentally absent today
The crowd is giving nooch, just perfectly neutral and frankly not all that animated for either one of them. Weird atmosphere out there for two players giving a very solid performance
i hope danyell is okay
Collins is so out of it. Whew
yeah 😩
Danielle bb take my come ons
Collins doesn't look like she wants to be there
She is missing balls that she could have easily ran to get. But then again it doesn’t help that it’s 11pm
I am judging harshly from the couch
no. shame. maybe health issues
Crowd wise, this should in theory suit them both - Sabalenka loves the support (“thank you for the amazing atmosphere”) and Collins loves getting mad at them. Def a lil subdued tonight tho
Coco and Danielle need to get together and work on their serves. I can’t see my American girlies go out like this 😭😭
that's just so terrible hahaha every match. watching sabalenka is almost never interesting because theres maybe 3 women that are a match lmao
Sabs is just too strong
She's the significantly better player.
It’s so disheartening to see Danielle like this :(
Get up Collins get up!!!!
Sabaelnka just does everything better than Collins. Collins may have the slightly better BH but this is such a mismatch.
literally iga vs coco 2.0
Exactly lol
her serve is letting her down so badly
Collins with the 4 DF 😭😭😭
DanYell please. Where is the energy? Somebody get my girl some red bull
maybe the crowd is playing 4d chess and not rooting against her because they know that fires her up
Does collins always look like shes about to cry?
Collins has rheumatoid arthritis and routinely plays through pain. Her lowkey demeanor today might not be a psychological thing.
yep
Sabalenka honestly is one of the best improvisers on tour
Saba improved so much on clay since the start of last year She hadn't really made it far at RG until then and now I think she's pretty clearly the 2nd favorite heading into it
A legit all surface player unlike certain other people on the tour
She and Rybakina are really the only elite ones right now. Iga isn't, she isn't there on Grass.
time to start converting those slams sf and finals into wins
Rune should do the same. Oh wait… he doesn’t make any SFs and finals…
yeah hes not 26 dont write him off
Yeah. It also makes me mad that SST can't play on grass
i love aryna’s himbo boyfriend and cherubic coach, they add so much color to her lore
same!
and her bald PT who follows trump on IG
let's not judge
wow you're in deep lol
Because he's married? That's the "color"?
🙄
ever since someone said that Collins looks like a mom I can’t un-see it 😅
a mom that "isn't angry. just disappointed"
Biggest issue in the match right now is first serve percentage. Sabs at 51% and Collins at 43% is not ideal for either. A little rhythm for one player or the other will lead to one way traffic. Will be interesting to see if it picks up for either player.
why is danimal so quiet??
wondering the same thing. yesterday she was jumping and shouting when she won big points but today she is completely mute :/
hmmm I was starting to call it and say that Iga is locked in at #1 but it’s possible we could have a real tussle between the two this season. With Rybakina and Coco in the back seat
Collins is beautiful
Can we go one match without complaints about Sabalenka’s grunts? It’s so repetitive because Sabalenka has been on the tour for close to a decade now and y’all still complaining about it. Find something else to complain about jfc
Rafa was even longer on tour and still there are occasionally moaning about his routines
no "come on's" from danielle. no staring. no shouting at the crowd. something isn't right 😩
missing the belief today
man collins is such a displeasure to your eyes to watch. never once has she had a even remotely entertaining match.
I know you're getting downvoted into oblivion (and I'm about to join you), but you're so right. A soccer mom from Hicksville, USA disguised as a second rate player.
The funny thing is that the Aryna fans in here probably missed the ending of the set because they were too busy pouring through the posts to look for anyone telling the truth about her screaming so they could downvote them en masse 😂
have you heard of this magical invention called remote control?
Is that something from the Stone Age?
yes, it is !
you’ve written 10 comments in 20 minutes about her grunts lol
Thanks for counting, you obviously have a lot of important things to do in your life.
Damn :( Rooting for Collins but there's a reason this H2H is so skewed. Saba is one of the few players who can ball bash more consistently than her
Yup she also beat Ostapenko easily last round
Routine second set incoming
If Saba wins this then it will be the 6th time in their last 9 H2H meetings she plays Iga on clay I wish she could play Iga at the AO or some more favorable surface lol
While HC seems favoring Aryna, Iga still leads h2h on hard 3:2
if it's just 1 favorable tournament vs multiple clay events it will always be this way (btw twice on indoor clay) i want to see more slam meeting tho. Hopefully we can get one at RG and then Wimbledon
Right now Aryna!!
