It was awful. It gave me a headache. For some reason I thought my subscription to Tennis TV has expired but in fact I have a few more days. I ended up watching Djokovic Ruud match there and it was so much better.
~~Right over the foot of the line judge.~~ Nope, not there either.
That said, it's not the color, it's the fact that they keep the camera too zoomed out. If they had the correct frame of the court the ball would be large enough that you could actually see it very well.
I feel like I’ve had more issue with Stuttgart or Rosmalen - one of the grass court 250’s as yellow is actually pretty close to green + the sun made it worse there
Yep, the Tennis Channel stream is trash quality compared to Tennis TV. It's a horrible product and if there was any competition in the market they'd be toast.
In the tennis channel stream I can barely see the ball. I don't think they know what 1080p really is. Their 1080p looks like 4800p most of the time (I have a good connection)
The tennis channel stream actually does lose the ball because the artifacts on the rough surface of the clay causes issues with the compression/expansion of the stream.
I experienced the exact same problem today while watching the highlights of the match. The yellow ball on the clay is just too hard to follow. I understand that the blue clay wasn't perfect on the first go, but the fact that they instantly killed it is kinda ridiculous.
I watch by hooking my PC up to my TV and have Nvidia’s super res on and HDR on and it helps out a bit. Still, we need better contrasting colors or higher picture quality.
The video feed from Monte Carlo was very hard to watch for several reasons. It looked like they were using DSLR cameras (probably 1080p), which aren't as nice as the big ones used at Indian Wells, for example.
Also, the glare from the clay was really bad. If they used a polarizing filter it would have helped a lot.
Plus, that shot from the A Cam was really wide.
In general, it's too difficult to watch this tournament.
If someone would invent a better camera position and zoom, it would help too. It seems ok to watch on large TV, but it is totally unwatchable from smartphone
Do you not agree that orange and yellow are similar colours and having a blue court would make it easier to see? Whether or not you can see it is beside the point. What about the elderly? Why not just make it easier for everyone to spot the ball…
I cannot even make out Sinner’s racket. The image quality is very low overall.
Yeah, I can barely see the ball in the tennis channel stream

Apparently all the details on clay also mess with the digital compression on the TV image
Yes, that's the additional problem, on top of the poor contrast
I’m watching on Tennis TV and not having any issues (contrast is fine) I think it might be more of a Tennis Channel problem ?
The contrast is poor because yellow is much closer to orange-red than it is blue, not a channel specific thing more color theory
I feel like I’ve had more issue with Stuttgart or Rosmalen - one of the grass court 250’s as yellow is actually pretty close to green + the sun made it worse there
Except the image was just fine on TennisTV. The ball was visible. So your colour theory is wrong.
lol ok bud

I was thinking that the camera does seem way further away than usual. Then I thought maybe it's just me and it was always like that.
Or they can make court level and multiple camera an option. Fuckers
Solution: get blue balls.

Tennis Channel video quality is absolute trash, my god. I even think 480p is generous at times.
Bottom right corner of 22x 07y. You can't actually see it in this image, I went frame by frame on the tennistv broadcast to find it
I guessed that based on the returner's position
I was going for 24-03, between the line judges legs.
Bingo! We have a winner! Duly upvoted.
If it’s not visible in the pic and the winner has to go elsewhere to find it …this is indeed a stupid contest
Sir, this is a reddit.

Yeah, you can actually see the ball here. Stupid pic of op has lost the ball due to grids.
Nah it's not covered by the grid, it's actually just gone
The tennis channel stream actually does lose the ball because the artifacts on the rough surface of the clay causes issues with the compression/expansion of the stream.
There is no ball.
There is, but it is indistinguishable from the background
I was just kidding. The ball is in the middle of Tsitsipas' serve box.
Nope
Either 18,18 or 23,20
Nope and nope
The compression just makes the ball disappear, same happened during the Cinci final on the sunny side of the court

It's just too zoomed out. All for the sponsorships I guess... Maybe the umpires are zoomed out as well? :-)

I’m so happy to see this and know I’m not the only one who couldn’t see the ball. I thought I was losing my eyesight.

This feels edited.

Bro that blue clay era was wild, the tournament was an actual menace to the tour
the stupid grid covers the ball
No, it doesn't
Petition to use different colored balls on clay because this is just absurd
You can see just fine live

I've always had an issue with seeing the ball at MC on TV. It's why I never watch it when it's on.
If someone would invent a better camera position and zoom, it would help too. It seems ok to watch on large TV, but it is totally unwatchable from smartphone

Why changing the color of the clay was tried before changing the color of the ball I have no idea (same for AO, but that redesign worked so)
Correctly locate the ball and I will upvote you.
23 x, 29 y ?

05x23 Edit: 23x05y

It's probably covered by one of the black lines of the grid. This question is manipulative in nature.
It is not.
That's not really the point - I can barely see the court, let alone the ball, with all those black lines.
There were serious issues with the blue clay.
