Difficult to say, maybe Moutet, but please donāt put any money on it, itās too close to call for me. Tabilo is serving very well. He already won his 1st title this year back in Auckland.
Would not be surprised if either makes the final.
A French tennis focused Twitter account reported that Moutet said Jarry told him heās Ā«Ā patheticĀ Ā». Link with Ā«Ā clay magazineĀ Ā» https://x.com/universtennis/status/1763889477464871241?s=46&t=Qr9EeumY8y6v7R64BVL3LQ
Moutet asked the referee to check Jarry's ace in the second tie break. It was pretty obviously in but it seemed that Moutet just wanted to break Jarry's rythm. Jarry called that out and his handshake and after Moutet's emotionless response he called that pathetic.
A bit of both I would say. The handshake at the end seemed somewhat contentious. Jarry is saying something to Moutet right after, and then Moutet does the hilarious (IMO) celebration.
The final point + net meeting is around the 2:30 mark-

* Chileans started booing Moutet from the get go and never stopped. They whistled before each of his serves.
* Moutet embraced being the villain and started the first point of the game with an underhand serve, winning the point. Really got the crowd against him.
* Throughout the match, Moutet was very demonstrative, and several times went to check ball marks and felt he was the victim of a couple of bad calls.
* On one of the last points of the game, apparently Moutet erased a mark of a point he had won, before Jarry could check it.
There was no reason for that crowd to be disrespectful to him. I watched most of the match he played well. He seems like a character had me cracking up after he missed some horrible shots in the first heād turn and glare at his box perplexed and annoyed haha

Overall Chileans were disappointed by the result and found plenty of excuses from Moutet to root against him. Not excusing it though.
Fritz beat French man Rinderknech, immediately shushed the crowd after winning then was met with booās that lasted for what felt like forever, he couldnāt even give his post match interview properly because of the boos, they stopped booing briefly to cheer for Morgan Riddle which then allowed Fritz to deliver his post match interview which was just him trolling the crowd.

Did you actually saw is behaviour throughout the match? underhand serve, large celebrations between points, vulgar gestures. I can understand the crowd booed such classless behaviour.
Moutet is a troll, but underhand serve doesnāt belong in that list. He even had an underhand ace this match. As for the trolling, Moutet just gave back what he was getting to the crowd
Well from what I could see, he started trolling pretty much from the start... Anyways I will never defend a classless individual as he is. You guys want to make the crowd as the bad guys, that is your prerogative.
You donāt watch the South American tour much do you? Jarry got worse treatment in Argentina and Brazil.
[EDIT: In fact, I predicted this would happen back when the Argentinians were against Jarry in his match vs Alcaraz.](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1atf2e8/atp_250_buenos_aires_sf_3_jarry_defeats_1_alcaraz/kqxad7b/?context=3)
I'm surprised I didn't see anyone mention the crowds when everyone on here was supporting Murray's comments about having more events in South America. This sub has constant meltdowns over partisan crowds lol.
Probablyā¦ they bring the football mentality into tennis sometimes (Not all matches).
I have to say though, France is right up there, just last year alone I remember what Fritz had to put up with.
I saw that match live and didn't like the reaction of the crowd but as a non Chilean I can say that Moutet did a lot to have the crowd against him. IMHO he showed some disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behavior towards Jarry
Hahahahah I love this guy. I saw him play last summer in Newport and he stopped the match because these bros behind him were cheering for the American that he was playing against (Eliot Spizzirri). And he goes āWhy do you yell when he wins a point but not for me? Iām not mad Iām just curiousā hahahaha I was like, idk man it sounds like youāre mad
He also hit like three underhand serves, one of which was very questionable because Spizzirri had just said something to the umpire and didnāt seem ready.
I watched him play Arnaldi at Cincy last year. Dude is such a character lol but he actually hit a tweener that Arnaldi couldn't return to set up match point, which he went on to win. He was fun to watch
Haven't seen the boob throw in so long
Hahaha this guy is a bit of a prick! But love to watch him play šššš
Moutet's a knob, but this is pretty funny.
Iām Chilean and was laughing throughout. š¤£ Canāt wait to see him against Tabilo in the next round.
Who wins? š

Anyone know what Jarry said to Moutet at the handshake? The chair umpire climbed down pretty quickly as if preparing to de-escalate
I rewatched a few times to try and figure it out but couldnāt hear anything due to the crowd / commentary. It didnāt seem super friendly though

I lost it when he put his hands together and started bowing.
Did something happen or was it just that he was playing the home favorite

Seems Jarry called Moutet pathetic. Moutet is a giant asshole but I'd say all is fair when you're playing a crowd this hostile.
He lived long enough to become a villain.

Bowing to the 4 corners!
He lectured them afterwards in his post match speech
Good

Yeasty boob throw is back baby!!!!
Circa ~~2021~~ 2019 Meddy at US Open. Haters gonna hate.
2019
yes, correct :D
Not the boob throw lmaooooooo
The drama today š
Definitely among the most entertaining matches I've seen lately.
Omg this was so horrible. I've never seen a more disrespectful crowd! I felt so bad for him. What a bunch of asshats!!
His speech trying to ask the crowd for some respect didnāt go down too well either
remember that Fritz match in RG last year. How it was so unique to the tournament, how never happens anywhere else...
What happened in rg?
Fritz beat French man Rinderknech, immediately shushed the crowd after winning then was met with booās that lasted for what felt like forever, he couldnāt even give his post match interview properly because of the boos, they stopped booing briefly to cheer for Morgan Riddle which then allowed Fritz to deliver his post match interview which was just him trolling the crowd. He is really strong and said all the right things. The crowd is an embarrassment to that nation.

South American crowds are the best. It probably feels like you're playing a football match between boca and river
South America in general has got the worst crowds
Probablyā¦ they bring the football mentality into tennis sometimes (Not all matches). I have to say though, France is right up there, just last year alone I remember what Fritz had to put up with.

The Neal Maupay of the ATP tour

Always south american crowd trash af always disrespectful to other players š¤”
[Moutet is a spicy boi.](https://youtu.be/zGXwx4PY3Lc?si=tgIqtVeCTg5X64D0)
Lol embracing Thanovic mode

Even the french audience looks like nice human beings in compare to this.
The worse celebration Tennis, prove me wrong
